We live in a tiny rural town. Once took our Subaru in for some repairs and the mechanic had never worked on one. After being in the shop for 3 months and spending nearly $800 we went and took it back. Apparently. He had replaces just about every component EXCEPT the faulty one. In his defense, I'm sure he would have got there eventually :p

Main reason why I do all my own mechanics work.
Well that and just being a cheap assed bastard :D
I used to, but I suffer from busted knuckle syndrome...

ETA: We've gotten rid of the Subarus (only 327000 miles... Sigh), and replaced 'em with Chevys so local folk can work on 'em when I can't.

Got marks all over my hands from rebuilding the HVAC system in my Blazer over the past week. Prolly only lost less than 1/4 cup of blood though :)
Full Dash removal and even removing a fender to get at stuff.
And epoxying stuff that a previous hack mechanic had broken....
Quality of work is another reason I do my own work.

And only under $500 including the tools and materials required. Vacuum pump, gauges, evaporator coil, heater core, compressor, etc.

I estimate dealer cost would have been over $2,000.

I used to. Built a running rolling drivable T bucket roadster and sold it before it was finished - 2 years of spare time. Done about everything except rebuilding a trans. But that was before all the electronics. Now I'm lucky enough to have a shop @ $30 pr hr labor and I can bring my own parts, so I usually diagnose it myself or find out what it needs before I give it to them.

Need some feedback on what's going on with my Wasp...the vacumme created is lifting the juice from the cotton right up the side of the cap and into my mouth.

Anyone else with this issue?

Have done auto trannies. However I have childhood friends with a shop that specializes in transmissions that I trust.
I do the filter and fluid on them though.
Will even do a torque converter and front/rear seal.

I do not do mechanics work as a hobby or because I like it though. Just because it needs doing and I can do it well and cheaper than paying someone else.

I use a drip tip. Any 510 drip tip works fine but I prefer the open bore ones with the funnel shape towards the top.
And maybe you are sucking too hard?

Yes. See it over here and see another RDA I might want, need both. The only thing I might like different from what 3F has listed is one with a SS cap. Not keen on the black coating or paint. Sure black is 'classic' color. I just don't like it for on top of a silver SS looking mod. And yes, I know the Coppervape is a hunk of aluminum.

No different than any other atty for the inhale...I put a drip tip on it but you can see the juice pulling up from the cotton running straight up the cap.

btw making an official complaint to the State Attorney Generals office next week about a CBD marketer that keeps calling me multiple times per day and will not stop. Filing a telephone harassment claim.

They telemarketing CBD? WTF - must be the low quality crap they can't unload otherwise

In all seriousness, and with no judgement implied, I am generally opposed to CBD in vaping. The vape industry has a hard enough climb ahead of it without packing on pseudo-drugs.

I use the hemp-based to vape and find it very useful - not a pseudo drug at all. It is a very useful, scientifically proven medicant

I get what you are saying on two fronts though, the vaping industry is indeed under siege, and there are some crap CBD products out there

Just got some pure crystals for my first DIY vapable CBD :)

I’m on my last bit of Cotton Bacon Prime. I ordered cheap Japanese cotton which tastes like shit and is now back in drawers for other miscellaneous use.

Is there any deal available on good cotton then please share.

Thanks in advance.

longer term members of this thread may be familiar with mum's health issues

she went to a party today, and discovered her clothes don't fit with her new cute little pot belly

a year ago she was a US size 4/UK size 8 with a belt, now a comfortable US 6/UK 10

:bliss:

I was not here for that, but glad to hear your mum is doing better.

My mother is 75 now, and I am trying to get her to drink more water to help with her health issues instead of only 3-4 cups of coffee :coffee2: in the morning and 2-3 glasses of red whine :vino: at night. Yes WHINE  and not wine.

She lives with me, so I am her caretaker and overseer. I drink 1-2 liters of water per day, in addition to anything else, and I am better for it, not just for vaping, but overall health too.

However, I do not enjoy having to pee so often :treadmill:, but c'est la vie.

...Everyone spending all their money on CBD?...

Wish I could. That stuff is expen$ive no matter where you get it from. Need lottery jackpot money in order to maintain a useful supply for myself.

I tried it once when a friend gave me some and all my aches and pains were gone, less anxiety, and slept so good like never before...but I plead the fifth for any info beyond that...

The stuff I tried was 500mg tincture for under the tongue. Worked well for me.

When I previously read about the bio-availability of CBD, they listed oral tincture as highest, then vape, then edibles.

If doing the edibles, it ends up costing about 3x the cost of the tincture in order to have the same efficacy.

I am still searching for a credible source of the hemp-based tincture, but so many online reviews seem like shill reports to me and I do not know which vendor to trust.

Thanks, tried that too. A few times. Dry smoke from combustion really kills me now.

Itchy throat made a red-faced coughing fit, and was in bad shape from the coughing fit.

I know there are dry-xxxx vape devices that do convection and tried that, was much better for me, but I'll refrain from discussing further so as not to run afoul of the VU rules.

I have an authentic Ultem version and love it.
2 weeks ago I received a clone from Fasttech as they were only $20 at the time and if I dropped it, no problem.
There is a noticeable difference in quality.

As for the clone, The firing button does not make connection at times because the metal part of the switch does not
protrude far enough from the plastic ring to make good contact with the battery.
I had to unscrew the ring out of the switch and sanded about 1mm off it allowing the metal to protrude.

The 510 pin adjusts, but it turns way too easy. When screwing on your RSA, the pin will start turning when the 510 from the atty makes contact.
It will lose contact after a while, so I removed the pin and squeezed the threading on it with pliers so the threads have more resistance.

As for the aesthetics, The squonk bottle door does not fit as precise as the authentic. It has the same magnets but the tolerances are not precise.
It does not fall off when using it though.
The squonk bottle in mine seems to be the same silicone one as the authentic model, but may also be cloned for all I know.
The brass finish on the clone is not smooth as the original. It has a "Cast" look to it but they clear coated it so it feels smooth.

After I corrected said problems, it works as well as the authentic now. Plus I intentionally dropped it on my garage floor from 8ft. No damage at all except for a scrape on the clearcoat. The squonk door even stayed on! If you don't mind a little tinkering with it, Well worth $20 IMO.

Not a professional reviewer, but I hope this helps.
Could not think of any Jai Haze drama to add either!

I usually do my own work unless I don't feel like messing with it being I work 7 days most weeks. I've got a close friend who works for Volvo so I just pay him half what a shop charges. Works for him, works for me. Lol

No worries.

The CBD section of VU is all crickets as of late, so maybe folks are all just phased and happy now with their anxiety and pains reduced and happy sleep time, instead of whatever malfeasance was occupying them previously...

I didn't even know that section existed on Vu. There are other remedies as well that are natural. Not sure how much can be talked about so I don't. Lol

Just talked to a co-worker a few minutes ago.
He got a white resin version in the mail yesterday.
He said his bottle is silicone but it looks like a 6ml instead of the 8ml like mine.
I guess they use what ever is laying on the floor at the time!

Puffs I use to clean my dogs ears

Has a weird taste to me...

Shameless phonetic rhyme...

CB is all I need for me.

I've got cb some Drago Egyptian cotton and some cheap pads. To me the pads are more absorbant than any of them. Not much of a flavor after the first few pulls. The Drago is so hard to work with. A learning curve is Def needed. I feel I use the pads more often than anything else lately for ease of use.

Seconded. I bought a bag of Puff and I freaking love it...

Me too. That big bag of Puffs cotton I bought like 18 months ago, and have used barely 1/4 of it now.

I also have 3 packs of the Native Wicks Platinum Blend that I picked up on clearance when Nuclear Vapes was closing the retail shop (web shop still going strong though). I like the Native Wicks too.

I dont taste anything but juice with either of them and they both wick just fine for me in any device.

If anyone hates the small flat head grub screws of the wasp, I picked up a bag of Allen head screws from FT that are a perfect replacement, definitely worth tossing a bag in with your next order for the price
https://www.fasttech.com/p/3981606
I actually prefer the slotted screws of the Wasp Nano, and detest the hex grub screws that are so often used as they ALWAYS strip on me, no matter the device nor the allen driver used.

I'd take a slotted, phillips or even a Robertson square drive any day over a tiny hex drive screw...

But, I got nothing against if folks love hex grub screws..go for it. :)

I dislike flat the most mainly because you can’t first put them on the driver to hold them while installed, I constantly drop them lol. And the flats in the wasp aren’t cut very deep. The rest aren’t too bad, if they are a good quality screw. These Allen are pretty good, feels like the deck would strip before they would if over tightened.

Phillips aren’t too bad if the screw heads are cut good and deep, but always seem to round out eventually on me especially if the correct size driver isn’t used because of laziness.

I actually switch out screws for grubs: it means 2 tri-tools rather than 2 tritools and 4 screwdrivers, (allowing for sizes).

However, I do wish we had a nice site with really, really good grubs. Hardened steel? Ti like TVP claims a source of?

Hell, I don't even know how anyone ascertains what funky metric sizes they need - other than asking around - there must be a cute little tool I am unaware of, (and can't afford).

heh.. TIme for someone with CLUE to start a new, Official LIST thread on screw sizes for everything ;-)

Ahh finding a proper fitting phillips screwdriver is a challenge and for some screws impossible.
I have no issue with the slotted screws in the wasp. However I have had some of those hex setscrews in my FT basket for a couple of weeks.
Might pull the trigger on them and my 4th Merlin RTA today.
Along with a few more of those nice drip tips...
