True. Although most cops could not afford them; where, gangs could.
I may not remember the time frame, but I know that today in most major cities the cops are outgunned against many gangs. In alot of situations it's like bringing a knife to a gunfight. A few years back, a buddy of mine was on patrol with his sidearm and was shot 5 times, leaving him a quad. ( He was damned lucky the headshot didn't take him out) he didn't have a chance against a 19 year old with full automatic. That's just one instance I know of first hand. Leaving the police underpowered in major cities is rather irresponsible in my opinion.

But in any case when fully auto weapons open up bad things happen.
Why I think that anyone involved in a crime involving a fully auto weapon should get death or at best life with no parole.

And I see no reason a sportsman needs a Barett .50.
My state still does not have a law on the books requiring forfeiture of weapons for people involuntarily committed under the Baker Act.
And to be so committed a judge has to decide that they are a risk to themselves or others....
But they can keep their guns for when they get out. And go off their meds again....
