I know alot of merlin users use high percent of vg.

I can report 70 pg is 100% leak proof in merlin if setup right

I'm vaping 85-90% PG with no leaking. It is sensitive to how much cotton I put in the cups and how deep, and at 90 PG I find I need what I consider a lot of wick in there but not to the bottom. When it's right I can run this build from 30 watts up to 60.

i hope the rush for bases has slowed down I have a leaky stainless base
At the first I believed it to be sweating but its just to much juice for that
its coming out the bottom around the rim

I have exactly the same problem. I have a couple more showing up tomorrow. If they do not sweat, I am going to ask for a new base.

I've had the merlin for about a week now. Overall I'd rate it ok.

So far I've had some issues with it. The threading isn't great. The juice flow control seems to spin way too freely. The airflow and juice flow are difficult to separate, and it's not easy spinning one or the other, or also taking the tank off of a mod or taking it apart. The flavor is good, not great.

I do like the build deck and the wicking has been pretty good so far. I have the black one and love the way it looks. I also like that it seems designed for single coil builds.

This will be my 'at work' tank and I'm happy with it in that role. I would not be happy with this tank at home.

Threading isn't great? I have to respectfully disagree. I own a ton of tanks and this has to be one of the best machined tanks I own if not the best.

I have 3 purchased separately from STS and eggity and FT. All 3 are wonderful, perform great and are equal in finish and threading to any of my other RTAs that cost way more than this one. Flavor is on par with my Phenomenons, Any of the Taifuns, and Flash-e-Vapors.

Flavour in all 3 of mine are outstanding, as for the treading I have had no issues at all, the juice control in mine not lose at all in fact it is quite firm, the airfow control maybe a little bit loose than some of tanks I own but does not turn by itself and stays where I have put it.
As for the lack of flavour It may or may not be down to your wicking. But I'm sure if you're not keen on it there will be plenty of people who will take it of your hands.

I've wanted to try a vertical build with external wicking on this puppy since I first saw how it was designed. I've been vaping a horizontal coil in my first Merlin for a week now. 24 gK, non-contact, 4mm, 7/6 wraps at 0.8 ohms.

This morning I put an identical coil in my second Merlin.

My first go at wicking it:

I ended up snipping away a bit of the cotton in spots after juicing it up, but not much.

Running it at 34 watts now and have had no issues after a tank of juice. Performance is great overall. Don't know yet if I prefer this build, I'm going to vape them both for a while and see how it goes over time.

I sent him an email this morning as well.
I'm curious, is it sweating between the afc ring and the slotted ring or between the slotted ring and the tank base?

It appears to be between the afc and the base. There is no juice on the base other than on the bottom. Nothing coming out of the air holes at all. I love this atty but it has been driving me crazy. Wicked it about 5 times. It is not flooding as there is no gurgling at all. Seems to vape very smoothly other than the juice on the bottom. I thought originally that it was condensation but there is too much of it.

Edit: He is going to send me a new base at the end of the week. Great service from STS.

Sounds like the press fit gasket is not seated properly. No way to fix that. STS is good people :)

No he's not here because a response wasn't made to his post so no alert was generated or a response like @asshaze wasn't made so no alert was sent to him. That's ok bro, let him stay out. Like he's saying we were saying/bashing him so he had to come in and rage. But when we responded we were told to NOT respond or we're going to the mud pit, we can't resound, real fair

Finally got my merlin in today from ft. Excited to slap a build in it and let it rip. What do you guys think about the notch coil that's included??View attachment 54074
I know some people hate them but I like them. Their great for someone like me who is new to RTA's. I've been running a dual Notch coil setup in my Boreas for 3 weeks now and I still get great flavor and clouds.

Got mine today from the IG black Merlin giveaway. Fit and finish are perfect. Gave it a quick cleaning and loaded the notch coil in it on my lunch break at work. Not a fan of the notch. I'll put a different build in it later this evening.

Hey Roxy;
I got to page #24 of this thread and decided, what the Hell, so I ordered (1) from STS just 5 min. ago, a "Black" one. I think it will work out for me with the restrictor plug screwed in. I'll run it on my "Black" Presa 100 TC and use it for my "Sitting in my Rocker/Recliner watching TV and Relaxing and thinking about nothing, just Vaping" setup.

Back to page #24 to try to catch up with the rest of ya. Ya'll in this thread are Great, Thank You for All the knowledge on this Merlin, It has helped me a Huge amount in making my decision, and a special "Thank You" to anavidfan and Roxy for taking the time.

I almost forgot,,,, Hello , This is my first post, I'm a Noob. ;)

I'm expecting better things from this Merlin than I got from my Aromamizer V1. That RTA was just plain Too airy, no matter what I did to try and compensate for all the air. I even ran my coil in between the posts and fashioned a (1) hole air adjustment band but not satisfied with the out come of either. Now I'll try Mr. Merlin, it should work better for me. So far the Taifun V2 (clone), Lemo V1, and the Erlk (clone) are the only RTA's that work just right for me.

I watched you're build video Boden, on page #25. http://vapingunderground.com/threads/the-merlin-rta-by-augvape-and-roxy.234109/page-25#post-1171375 and will use you're measurements on the wicking.

You are just as fastidious as I am with building, we even make the same mistake of putting in the Cotton/Rayon before we burn the coil, frustrates the Hell out of me when I do that. My calipers are of the old Stainless Steel Dial persuasion, yours are Digital. I have a self healing cutting pad and round cutting blade (originally used by seamstress's for cutting out clothing patterns) along with metric rulers taped to the top and bottom of the pad to measure my KGD and cut about 6 KGD pads to put them in a zip lock bag for future use.

That was a Very informative video you made. Thank You for the time and effort in putting it together and on this thread, it will be very helpful.

Does this build help the airflow any it's kind of restrictive but not too bad just wondering if this made it a little smoother?

You are most welcome. I just mounted the coil and then took a piece of wire and used it to find the distance from the edge of the coil to the bottom of the well on a curve.
