Got the wicking right this time and am very very favorably impressed. Your cotton has to be pretty tight with this tank.

Very true. My first wicking was a little loose, and it leaked a tiny bit while laying on it's side. Since the rewick, not a single problem

It's not like it's HARD to wick, but it needs to be tighter than you might at first intuitively think,

First time I wicked it, it flooded. Set it aside for a week. Rewicked it last night and every time I fill it with juice, it floods bad. I tipped it upside down at work today and a ton of juice came pouring out. Then after that I get dry hits.

Back to the reload for now.

It is a bit finicky with it's wicking ,but if I can get it, I know you can get it. I haven't had any issue with dry hits at all, though I did have some gurgly spitback at first.

The chimney kinda squishes my wick flat, causing it to choke right at the edge of the coil

Yeah the inside of the tails are dry and if I was vaping it, it would be dry on the edge of the coils too.

I'm not immediately seeing the difference between my build and yours. I don't get it.

As far as I can see your build has a thicker elbow of cotton on each side of the coils which allows for better juice flow to the coils. Looking good!

A little. The first hit after sitting for a while is good but after that it's dry

If I had to guess I'd say you are fighting vapor lock, which is a bitch. I went through this with my Zeus single coil and OBS engine nano rtas. The wicking for top airflow rtas is fickle.

What helped me was after I pulled the cotton through the coil I would gently pull the ends of each side of the cotton with my thumb and index finger to thin them out which helped with juice flow and still allowed air bubbles to escape to the top of the tank. Then I would cut the tails to length and tuck them into the wicking channels. It takes some practice to find the sweet spot between flooding and dry hitting but worth it when you find that spot.

Oh yeah, another thing I do is never fill the tank all the way on a fresh build. I fill about 3/4 of the way to help fight the vapor lock until the cotton has broken in.

    Hope this helps brother!

    Awesome, hope it helps.

I do those things with every rta now and never get dry hits or leaks. The most I get is mild flooding for the first refill or two but it's just a fine mist for the first few hits and then it's good.

I have to clean my armomamizer plus and put a fresh build in it tonight or tomorrow because I'm changing juices. If you like I can post pics. :)

Yes, I also learned that along the way. In fact I go with more like a half tank until I see how it's going to behave.

I certainly am not claiming any exalted expertise here, but I can only say that this is my second wicking in this tank and it's running great. I get bubbles almost the size of a pencil eraser with every pull and no leaking at all. For the record ,there's a sizable contingent of new Zeus X owners over at Reddit who are having flooding and spitback challenges as well. I must have just stumbled over the right way to do it. Or A right way.

I would say whatever you're doing it's working for you. Seriously dude, next time you rewick you should post pics of how you do it. I think it would be a tremendous help for those that are struggling.

The thing about it is at the time I just chalked it up to wicking a new rta. They always seem to take a few shots to get right (except the Lotus). At least for me. All I really did was not thin the tails out as much the second time. Next time I'll get some pics.

One thing that occurred to me with @Mykreign was maybe his coil legs are a little longer. With as tight as it is inside that internal airflow cap, maybe his coils are just high enough to squeeze the cotton, but not high enough to short the coils. I cut my legs at 3.5mm on the coil tool.

It's too late for me to get any decent pictures, but my coils are about as close as they can be to the posts without shorting, maybe a mm higher, but cotton pretty stuffed in there. I trimmed the underside of my cotton where the could end, and after the bend, it seems to wick nicely. I don't really chain vape, so I can't speak on dry hits as reliably, but I've got no qualms with the entire setup now

My wicks are down in the ports too. Not WAY down, but securely in. I don't go for this trend I see with reviewers about barely getting your cotton on top of the ports for these raised kind of decks.

My guess is that changing your wicking did not fix your issue. I bought 2 Zeus x’s. One of them wicks and vapes very well, the other floods no matter what. I’ve changed every oring, tried both types of glass, no difference...there’s something structurally wrong with it. I can literally empty the tank simply by turning it upside down. There’s no vacuum pressure. One thing to double check is that your fill ports are aligned with the top of the tank; I.e. the female part that the cap screws on to. I believe my issue is with that piece, which seems to be press fitted onto the outer chimney and can turn so that it’s out of alignment. While messsing with my defective Zeus, that top just popped off so I’m wondering if that is where the vacuum is failing. If your issue is different and already resolved just ignore this.

I am a big fan of the Zues line, I just got my Zues X two days ago and, imo, it's hands down the best one! I loved it so much I ordered another one already!

I'm tired of messing with it. Havent got it to wick right one time yet.

I think my coils are too big. I only use one type of coil and I don't want to spend money experimenting with other coils.

Yeah my bad. I was just scrolling back through the thread and remembered you're having a problem wicking it.

The only thing I can think of is to remove one wrap from each coil so the coils aren't as wide. Hopefully that would help prevent the juice flow from getting cut off when you put the cap on.

I didn't think about it, but I'm using 2.5 mm coils. This might help some people out. They're a bit wider with the extra wrap, but not as tall, and was easier to wick in my opinion.

So, I rewicked last night, and my first attempt ended up in leaking, but I'm pretty sure I had a spec of dirt or something between the glass and deck. It leaked out the bottom. After further inspection I realized there was no o ring there, so that channel has to be completely clean to hold a seal. Also, I noticed that the channel that the wicks go into in the deck are a lot deeper than anything I've seen before. I realized that this might be the problem many might be having. The tails have to be near twice as long to fill them than I'm used to. You can't see the juice flow holes from the glass, and that had intrigued me looking at it on how the juice flows. I hadn't really inspected the tank until now because I was in kind of a hurry the first time I wicked it. Just figured it might help some that were having troubles with the leaking. Check the groove that the glass sits in, and stuff your cotton deeper than you'd think. The X really is my most flavorful tank at the moment.

Just an update on my Zeus x issues.
I figured out the issue and fixed it. The top of the tank (Not the cap but the part that connects to the chimney) is press fitted into the chimney and mine was not pressed in flush. If you have problems maintaining a vacuum in your Zeus x, try the following: Break your Zeus down and first make sure the top is at the correct orientation and the juice ports are lined up then put the top part and connected chimney on a hard surface and press down hard i mean really lean your weight on the chimney and you should feel the top pop into place on the chimney. Make sure you’re applying pressure evenly as you don’t want it crooked. Completely fixed my issue.
