Would a hobo v3 work with the original kanger dripbox

I am trying to find a good replacement rda for the kanger dripbox I just got. Would the hobo, velocity or zorro be the best choice?.

Thanks!

I ended up getting: http://www.angelcigs.com/fire-bird-style-rda-rebuildable-dripping-atomizer-silver.html

and http://www.angelcigs.com/hobo-v3-st...da-tiffany-blue-extra-bottom-feeding-pin.html

This is due to the fact that every other bottom feeding rda on angelcigs ships from China. No bueno. The US warehouse is less than 40 miles from where I live so I reliably get stuff from angelcigs in 2 business days. I simply don't know of a site where I can order and get stuff in less time.

Wish me luck !

As long as you build the coils to .25 or .28 to get the max wattage out of the box.

Ohms Law, to get 60 watts (max of the device), at 4 volts, .26 is the coil resistance you need. You can build lower, but the mod will only put out 60 watts max and it goes down as the battery goes down. It's a non adjustable fixed wattage mod, or a protected mech in a way with an amp and watt limitation. You will get 60 watts no matter how low you build. Below .26 just drains the battery faster. If you build higher, you won't get 60 watts, but you will increase the run time of the battery charge.

Thanks - I did not know (hadn't researched it) that it was a fixed wattage mod

Yep, you can put in a .18 build, but will only get 60 watts max. 60 watts with a .18 build is a very cold vape. If you did it in a mech Squonker, at 4.1 volts it's 93.3 watts, about right for fairly tasty and gnarly clouds with a good BF dripper.

Glad I asked and thanks for clarifying that :)

I have a 0.7 build on it and it is giving me excellent run time! I'm impressed with this thing.

Ok so good news and bad news - the Firebird didn't work. The Hobo v3 works beautifully!

I was checking out the firebird, ty for this info. The Hobo v3 is my next rda to try, first I still need to decide to go with velocity or velocityV2 for my kangertech 60w dripbox. choices choices

ahh I also had a question, why do so many people hate the RDA the kangertech 60w dripbox came with anyway?

Hate might be over stating it. It works, just not very well. The air slots are too high and airflow kind of goes above the coils. If you raise the coils they get very close to the plastic cap. I didn't melt the cap, but I kept getting (imagining maybe) a plastic taste when using it.

For me its the constant splashes of hot juice all over my face. That shit hurts and there doesn't seem to be a way to keep that rda from spitting.

**Edit... that sounds really pornographic....hahahah eff it - I am not going to change it LMAO

Usually that is more coil type/material and wattage related than rda design. But with the airflow slots too high it might induce popping. You could try different coils, perhaps higher resistance. That's of course if you even care to try and make that thing work. :p

edit - I was going to ask and forgot. What was the problem with the Firebird?

This is a totally new perspective on the RDA. I'll never see it the same way again.

rofl,
have u rebuilt coils for it yet? I don't usually get the splash back, only once in a great while and was wondering if the splash back was caused by building a different resistance level of coil.

I was using the stock coils. I have watched a few reviews on youtube and others have experienced the splash back. PBusardo reeeeallly didn't like that part of the experience:

@AlbyKortoona I am not really sure why the Firebird didn't work.... I *think* it may be that either the stem where it screws in to the mod is too short or there isn't enough metal around the squonking hole. I am going to mess with it a bit today and see what I can do to try to fix it. I figure I have nothing to lose by trying as I don't have another squonker and the Firebird doesn't come with a regular pin and one with a hole like the Hobo does. I will report back :D

Would appreciate that. Was going to get one, but will put that on hold until I hear your report. :)

I'm curious about this too.

I really like how the Firebird looks.

My latest happy find...
Pancake - comes with BF pin installed, comes with Ultem drip tip, with regular drip tip adapter, and with full ultem extra cap (which has WAY too much airflow for moi). This thing kicked a NarDa clone off one of my squonkers...

3F has them too - not sure where they ship from...
(I'm never in a hurry, lol)

Well y'all I tried to fix up the Firebird and I have to say - it didn't work for me. I didn't try to put a hole down the middle of a pin, instead I took my dremel and cut a side channel into it. I may have cut too much of the plastic material around the original hole in the Firebird. See the problem with the Firebird is that it doesn't come with a pin in the bottom of it, rather some plastic shielding material around what appears to be a brass tube type thing that has a very tiny lip. I felt that the Firebird didn't work for one of two reasons - either it was too short for the dripbox or that the tiny amount of brass didn't make enough of a connection. That led me to bore it out and attempt the fix I described above. I really really wanted it to work as I love the design of the Firebird and it appears to be something that wouldn't have much if any spit back. I haz a sad :/

That sucks.

Guess you can't fiddle with the dripbox 510 much?

Most squonkers you can adjust the 510 at least a little, some quite a bit

@JuicyLucy - you know what, I didn't even think about trying that - doh! I should have remembered that, I will check that out! Nice reminder. much appreciated :)

@JuicyLucy you are a genius!!!!!
! I altered my approach but that wouldn't have worked without your reminder that one can fiddle with a 510 connector......

So what I did was this:

I pulled apart a couple of old kanger mini pro tank coils - the firing pin on these are hollow. I believe I mentioned I went a bit nuts drilling out the center in the Firebird ? Well I took one of the firing pins and placed the rubber shielding from 2 of the kangertech coils around the hollow firing pin for insulation. I then screwed this all into the bottom of the Firebird...at first it didn't fire but then i grabbed the 510 connector on the dripbox with my ceramic tweezers being careful to loosen that 510 connector just a smidge.....and Voila. It fires!!!!!!!!!! I have glowing coils.

I have to leave for work now so I can't wick my coil and test out the squonking just yet but I will do that when I come home tonight!

Hope this works out for you though :)
