IGN's worst-reviewed movies of 2021 is an unfortunate list because nobody sets out to make a bad movie (as far as we know), but sometimes a project just doesn't come together.

So let's have a look at the films released (both theatrically and streaming) so far this year that were scored the worst of the worst by IGN's critics. IGN rates its movies on a scale of 0-10. The "worst-reviewed" movies listed here all scored 5.0 or below. The IGN review scale labels any film scored 5.0 as "mediocre," 4.0 as "bad," 3.0 as "awful" and 2.0 as "painful."

With that, here's the latest attempt at a Saw film that even Chris Rock couldn't save, a sci-fi misstep starring Chris Pratt, an animated retelling of one of the greatest zombie films of all time, and more -- all listed in score order. And when you're done here, be sure to check out the Best Reviewed Movies of 2021 as well.

There’s Someone Inside Your House

Grade: 3

Read our Review: “There's Someone Inside Your House tries to make you think it's got a catchy, viable gimmick when in reality it's empty and unsatisfying. As soon as it starts to lay down tracks, and head in a certain direction, it derails and scraps the story for something drastically different or confusingly contradictory. In the end, despite the title, it's just a masked someone killing teenagers for reasons and those reasons are terribly dumb.” - Matt Fowler

The Tomorrow War

Grade: 3

Read our Review: “The Tomorrow War is astonishingly bad. It’s got a confusing plot, an emotionally shallow hero arc, and monsters more messy than menacing. Then, caked in made-for-TV level visual effects razzle-dazzle, slicked in a sickly low-contrast palette, this movie is downright ugly. Sure, it’s got big and loud action, but nothing to rattle you to your core. I’d say it miscasts Chris Pratt, but he’s an executive producer on the project so he did this to himself. Still, much blame can be laid at the feet of director Chris McKay. It’s astonishing that the helmer of The LEGO Batman Movie followed that vibrant, funny, and wildly entertaining offering with an action movie that is such an inane eyesore. And yet that turn still makes more sense than the plot of The Tomorrow War.” - Kristy Puchko

Spiral: From the Book of Saw

Grade: 3

Read our Review: “A sequel that hopes to court Saw fans and mainstream audiences alike, Spiral: From the Book of Saw is likely to alienate them both. It’s a hollow imitation of the series, unable to meet its most basic visual and narrative expectations. It’s also a bad film in general, which tries to tell a socially relevant story that it can’t seem to handle.” - Siddhant Adlakha

Night of the Animated Dead

Grade: 2

Read our Review: “This dreary retread doesn't have anything new to offer horror fans. It could've been better if the animation was better, but this feels like low level rotoscoping at best. Sadly, a stellar voice cast can't bring this flick back from the dead. Just watch the original, it's free! “ - Rosie Knight

Dashcam

Grade: 2

Read our Review: “As follow-up to the fiercely frightening Host, Dashcam is a major failure. Co-writer/director Rob Savage squanders his rising star reputation by rolling out a second pandemic-set screen life horror movie, but this one is not just unoriginal, it’s sloppy, soulless, and sickening. Like its controversial protagonist, Dashcam takes wild swings to shock us. Any attempted statement about this moment in prolonged pandemic panic is lost among the spewing of buzz words, cussing, poop jokes, and vomit. His anti-hero/star Annie Hardy callously mocks fears over COVID-19 throughout, and it’s unclear whether he’s satirizing or platforming the American anti-vaxxers that she resembles. The real-world pandemic is just a horrid hook for a mediocre monster too tame to horrify on its own. Simply put, Savage ghoulishly uses his polarizing protagonist as a smokescreen to obscure that he has nothing new to offer. Dashcam crashes and burns all the same.” - Kristy Puchko

Kate

Grade: 2

Read our Review: “Kate attempts to create an original femme fatale by making her moribund with little time to find the man responsible for her death. Unfortunately, the story falls flat with tiresome tropes and faltering action scenes. At times, there are a few characters that are more interesting than the protagonist, but they are never really explored beyond their cameo or until the final act. The film really wants us to care about the title character, but fails to make us do so.“ - Laura Sirikul

The Protégé

Grade: 2

Read our Review: “The Protégé sucks the fun and excitement out of its action-thriller premise, and it turns its gorgeous, incredible actors into charisma black holes. Everyone involved not only deserves better, but has done better versions of what they do here. The right ingredients, assembled in disastrous order.” - Siddhant Adlakha

Cosmic Sin

Grade: 2

Read our Review: “Cosmic Sin is an excruciating watch, top to bottom, featuring an absolute mess of camera work, scenes where actors don't interact with one another, and bottom barrel sci-fi leftovers. In the end, you might be left feeling sad more than anything else, and not because of anything the film is intentionally trying to make you experience.” - Matt Fowler
