Started the Lawn work early this morning with some bush trimming. Got done by lunchtime so had a bite to eat before going to fix a problem with some roll up garage doors for a buddy. What bitch working in a 2 car garage with this heat and humidity up on a ladder. Got er done and her was very happy and appreciative. Now have to take a shower and maybe go do some Computer work before dinner. Long freaking Friday~!
Still raining here. flooding in low lying areas. Some areas atround me have gotten 6+ inches of rain in the past couple of days and a couple more days of rain to go they say. Maybe order pontoons for my riding mower?
Autumn leaves Seedlings of chard and rocket (arugula I think in the States) Last summer's sage Parsely and oregano still strong Yep. Will grow slow in winter. But have good flavour. Except for the sage, which I should rip out.
My Parsley is able to survive being buried under 18 inches of snow and still be able to pick and use for cooking once the snow melts. One amazingly robust herb. Have a nice crop growing this year~!
Mowed for last 2 days.. Still have my mowing to go. Sometimes I would like to have time for other projects...
I Haven't used my Oregano yet but it is doing pretty well although I thought it should grow tall. The Basil I have been using since I planted it~!
Where are you living now? That doesn't look Tropical but I guess you Alaskans think no snow for a month is in the tropics~! LOL
Last year I had almost 4 foot basil plants. That was until a heat wave killed it off and I was glad I had a freezer full~!
This is my Herb Garden this year with a couple of Tomato Plants in there because I ran out of room and Dad asked for some outside the kitchen. Parsley on the left, Oregano in between the Basil. Nothing better than walking outside for fresh Herbs when cooking.
The Big Island - as we aren't there full time yet, we have a guy come weed wack once a month - he sent that pic yesterday
I absolutely love Hawaii, only been to Oahu though. I can't imagine everything involved to contemplate a move like that.
You sell everything you don't need, stuff the rest in a shipping container and buy one way tickets and say Aloha
I can't imagine going from the Climate in Alaska to the Climate in Hawaii. So freaking radically different I hope they can adjust or acclimate~!
This is one of those things where I fail to find the correct words. Everything I come up with sounds crass or insensitive.
Me as well. I'm left to feel though it is better to not care, or at least not present that on the forums. It seems that's the general "attitude" evinced by some. Who am I to break status quo? As far as that goes, suppose if I don't care I may as well not post anything. I don't comprehend it nor do I want to accept this attitude. It seems though for the best. Find if I do care then folks find ways to exploit that and cause pain. Not why I care. My reasoning for caring isn't important though, on with the great party.
Then those are some sorry, sad excuses for human motherfuckers. I imagine the who situation sucks. A close family member couldn't have kids biologically. She and her husband are in a position to adopt. Not everyone is in that position. I imagine were I in that same position I would have a range of emotions, but since I am not and I don't know you I won't presume to know how you may or may not feel nor question the manner in which you deal with it.
It's not all regarding that. Yes that weighs in and yes in this case it did somewhat more than usual. I care about other stuff as well, sort of a general caring about people and yes people beyond immediate family. That's my nature. I have to curb that though, or so is suggested.
On the schedule for today is to trim the bushes from the side and around the front. Need the 8 foot ladder and my 8 foot trimmer for today. Made an extension out of wood not a store bought device.
Need to mow down in my garden area. Mowed a path down there a few days ago. Head high thistles and knee high grass and weeds... Plan on having a nice garden next year. Too many things going on this year.
The teenager gets a yard work reprieve as it's storming today and next two days show 90 percent chance of thunderstorms.
DRAT just posted a mowing post in the Daily Mixing thread. Need to open eyes and brainz more. Thought it said Daily Mowing thread... LOL Senior moment? Probably
Anyway supposed to be looking at around a foot of rain here by next Weekend. In a little over 1 week.
Don't love that though - especially if you are in an area that can't absorb that kind of moisture pretty damn quickly
Not bad around the house. I live on a ridge but still soggy and a bit of water ran in under a basement door during a Frog Drowner rain. But the grass has not been dry enough to mow for a while. Lots of low lying flooding around here though. Creeks up in roads and such.
I said screw the rain and did the lawns anyway. The Landscapers work it in so I can too. Had to put down the Scott's Step 2 and the Disease EX because I see the Brown Spot and the Powdery Mildew starting. Normally that is late July/August but with all the rain early this year needs early treatment. I can see it will require another application this year.
Hahaha Mr J about to mow, circa 1968 - he said right after this was taken he hit a turtle while mowing and got seriously freaked out, lmao
