Steve Buscemi is reportedly joining the cast of Wednesday's second season on Netflix.

The news come via a report from Variety today. Despite further details on the character being "kept under the wraps," Buscemi is reportedly set to play the new principal of Nevermore Academy, according to Variety.

Buscemi is a prolific actor, holding various notable roles across the big and small screen throughout his career. Though the actor is known for his cameos in several Adam Sandler films, including Big Daddy, Billy Madison, and Mr. Deeds, he's also had bigger roles such as Nucky Thompson in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire and Mr. Pink in Quentin Tarantino's 1992 film Reservoir Dogs.

Wednesday premiered on Netflix in November 2022 and quickly became a hit. With over 1 billion viewing hours, it became the second most-watched show on the platform. Roughly two months after its release, Netflix announced that it would return for a second season.

The show's success may have also prompted Netflix to create an additional series set in the same universe, as a report in late December by Bloomberg claimed that the streaming juggernaut is looking to make a spinoff series focused on Uncle Fester.

Though details on the second season, such as a release date, have yet to be revealed, we know that the forthcoming season will focus more on horror and less on romance. Additionally, actress Jenna Ortega, who plays the titular character, teased earlier this year that Wednesday's second season is "bigger," with each episode feeling "more like a movie."

In our review for the first season of Wednesday, my colleague Amelia Emberwing wrote: "Jenna Ortega shines as Wednesday in this exciting — albeit rocky from time to time — new addition to the Addams Family pantheon."
