What
@Squonk said, then head over to the recipe sub-forum and find a few recipes that sound good to you. Then just order those flavors + VG, PG, nic, and what ever you choose to measure with. I use the scale mentioned in the thread Squonk posted and mix directly in bottles. No vape dishes to wash. If you have some empty vendor glass bottles lying around just wash those out and you have bottles without having to buy any. This will save you on initial out of pocket expenses and if you find DIY is not for you it's not a major loss. Another thing to do when using someone else's recipes is just make 10 ml batches, that way if the taste doesn't match your palate no big deal to toss it down the drain or try experimenting on your own to fix it to your taste, you're only out $0.35 or so.
BTW if you choose recipes that use TFA flavors, ECX calls them Signature. And if you go with FlavourArt recipes, HIC has an excellent document on his site describing most FA flavors. You can get that here:

Above all, read, read, then read some more. There's lots of info here and lots of great folks ready to answer your questions.
Happy New Year!
ETA: Don't forget to get a juice calculator. I use ejuicemeup, there are lots around that are free. Just plug in your flavor, PG, VG, and nic percentages it will give you the required volume or weight needed for each part.
