I have to say one of the pleasures of vaping has been being able to "cheat" the goverment out of tax money. Why is there no date on this article? It mentions "last October". Well the tax in question went into effect in October of 2016.
There's no doubt this tax folded some of the weaker hands in the state. However, the two vape shops closest to my place in PA seem to be doing fine. Both make their own juice and a 40% tax on the wholesale cost of e-liquid ingredients is not a big problem; the margins on house juice remain quite healthy, if not obscene. Of course if/when the FDA shuts down the ability to make juice in-house, then things might get difficult for them.
As for people not being able to find coils, that's just laziness. The Internet has been a thing for more than 20 years now. Or get an RBA, a spool of wire, and a bag of cotton or rayon and watch some Youtube videos.
PA is my home state. They've never gotten a penny in that tax from me and they never will.
