I do not expect that to happen unless they ban smoking and you know that will not happen for a loooong time if ever here.
Too many people/businessess/govt make too much money off of it.
I mean our govt seems to be eager to put us at much higher virus risk just got get the money machine going.

True, like we’re going to be safe in April! I’m surprised Glantz hasn’t put in his crappy two cents about vaping and corona.

I figure he has but not too many listening to him now. He is kinda professionally disgraced.

One piece of good news! Enough vapers hated him, so he finally but the dust professionally. Yay!!
Not plumb bit the dust but he embarrassed other professionals who took his badly flawed "study" and ran with it. It got officially retracted later once it was shown that his conclusion and data was pretty bogus.

Opened an unemployment claim this morning.
Took me 12 hours, no joke, to get thru the online filing process. Michigans unemployment website is so bogged down with so many people trying to file a claim all at once.
Texas has been pretty bad also, but there's also a record number of people filing. It took us over 2 hours and multiple refreshes to get it accomplished.

watched interview video somewhere today,, the bill has implied some payment to the SS group as well as the govt assistance group,, but getting the money may come in the form of a check unless of course they are already digital with a bank account. i havent seen it in print yet.--maybe friday.

meantime,, once this is all done,, our politicians can go rest on holiday until April 20th. (----um,, going to leave that one alone!)

fwiw,, as i type,, bitcoin is $6247,, now would be the time to start adding cash to coinbase,, dont buy any crypto,, the next set of bankers about to get wiped out as they get liquidated in the stock market. $2500 bitcoin would not surprise me. (4 firms i passively heard blew out,, normally i would be all over it with each one,, but decided my time is better spent staying focused on the overall game as there will be too many to keep up with in this soap opera

now the wallstreeters are calling a bottom (which means we are about to make a new low soon),, yet they failed to call a top,, and at least 4 restaurants are now saying they cant pay their rents,, LULU (lululemons yoga clothes) had very good earnings,, but they simply told the truth,, they have no idea what to expect going forward. their american stores are closed,, online is all they have now,, and 3.5mil people getting laid off this week isnt a bullish support argument to pay $188 for a stock that wont be able to beat earning for the next several quarters. this is true for nearly every stock,, stocks are to be priced on what their growth models are not what you can talk a newbie into paying for the stock. (p/e models,, the price of the stock / earnings)

rumor is wallstreet is going to push the market wednesday with $160b,, or end up being the eggman again,, chasing falling knives. wednesday is April 1,, start of a new quarter,, so technically they can do nothing Monday and Tuesday as they have nothing to gain.

the dow is 21637,, my charts imply 23800 is possible,, use the upswing to your advantage of course.

dividend pumpers sure blew each other out chasing 2% while losing 20% of the stock price,, reits and energy divy' hit some pretty high rates,, i saw 1 energy co had a 52% divy for a day or so.. they will have to cut their divy or flat out cancel the divy

everyone and their dog is pumping 'warren buffet' buy this or that,, his oxy @$58 is now $11,, if he buys anything,, it more than likely will be to backstop an insurance company- he does very well on those risk models.. with the virus,, the health insurance companies are going to overran with sick people.

I say let the wealthy sell out and see if pro-socialist movements keep chanting 'the top 1/10th of 1%...'

With the wealthy gone, no more investments into business, who would foot the bill for college and medical care? The people needing it - that's who.

There is a reason we dont pay these "journalist" - they write these stories to get more eyes on the page so the page owner can sell ad space.

Shock & awe but never truth & facts

oh, but they do get paid. indirectly through the advertisers . and yes, shock and awe to gets "hits". truth matters not.

So today was let’s clean the house day... I don’t mind, I like clean.

So wife is busy in her bath taking a year to clean an area of... well a medium sized normal bath...

I finished my bath, my computer room, the hallways, the kitchen, the living room and den.

She comes out of her cave... omg why does everything smell like bleach?

LOL Pretty much spot on.

I have suffered with serious social anxiety disorder my entire life.
society is not kind to those like me.

I don’t judge you brother, the older I got, the
More I appreciated myself, I work with people in daily basis, but I’d rather be home alone!
That’s why I married my wife, she’s like me, we don’t wanna go anywhere, my sons are the same shit.....

Do you missed school? FUCK NO!

Nope it is seen as a weakness by many to pounce on or otherwise exploit.

Bullies can tell if something causes pain and they’ll jump on that. It was hard in my school, even though it was a small school (100 kids.)

It causes people to conform outwardly, imo.

Hmm I assume he is the singer with ELO?
Never was interested who was in a band just the band's music.

Jeff Lynne is one of the most underrated musical creative forces in the last 50 years, in my opinion. I guess most people who even know his name probably only know him as "the singer in ELO," but his involvement in contemporary music is much wider than that.

Everyone is interested in different things, I guess. Music is one of my things.

I like music just not interested in the details about who is in the band.

Those people have something the masses lack... Hope.

I wish more people had that.

I think that’s what I’m picking up generally, lack of hope. Not on VU and not everywhere online, but if I turn on the news...wham. Bad vibes. (Have you seen Platoon? :teehee: )

I don't watch the news for that reason.

Tired of hearing all the worst about this and that and seeing how this is happening and that is happening...

I keep my head up even through the fires of Hell. It can test your patience for sure. It can also have you questioning your sanity after awhile.

We all know that like other species on the planet, humans are social beings. We enjoy attention, affection, communication, etc... So this specific moment in time, truly tests the systems that make us whole.

I love my family, but I need to get away from them every now and then.

But again, I try to stay as positive as I can... And right now, at this very moment, that is harder than most people think.

I read today that unemployment is going to give everybody 600 extra dollars a week on top of their benefits already. must be nice to sit at home and get paid $1,000 a month for nothing. Sorry I know that sounds shitties just aggravating that I'm still working for my $900 every two weeks. But if I got laid off I can make around 3,200 a month at home and do nothing

That is the max payout, scale still applies afik. I do not think they will pay you more that you were making.

last time I got it about 10 years ago when my job was outsourced to India I got $300/week. And that was the maximum in KY at that time as I had been making $20/hour.
Actually that was the first time I had drawn unemployment in my life.

I know this is NC. Not sure about the rest of the country. Their benefits plus an extra $600 a week for up to 4 months. And extend the already existing clients another 13 weeks. Minimum draw is $188 a week. Max is $350. So even at the lowest amount plus the boosted $600 who wants to find a job.

I will say I'm thankful my wife and I are still working but damn I kinda wish if have gotten laid off too at those earnings.

Yet some groups, like tip workers, some gig and self-employed workers, and those who worked in certain states, won’t benefit to the same degree as others
The goal is to provide the average out-of-work American with 100% wage replacement.

I suspect that is UP to $600 not a flat $600 on top.
but I have been wrong before

$600 extra is what was said on the news the other day, and they specifically said that some people will make more on unemployment than they would while working.

Oh well I have no problems with that. It is an economic stimulus thing mostly anyway.
And those who actually make less than minimum wage ie waiters and such that depend on tips get fuck all for unemployment anyway normally.
In KY a laid off vape shop employee will do better AND qualify for Medicaid as well.

Ir must be the end of times.

Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne said he wouldn't close the doors of his Tampa, Florida, megachurch until the End Times begin. The police weren't willing to wait that long.

On Monday, Florida sheriff's deputies arrested the evangelical pastor, who has continued to host large church services despite public orders urging residents to stay home to help contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said Howard-Browne has been charged with two counts: unlawful assembly and a violation of health emergency rules. Both are second-degree misdemeanors, Chronister said at a press conference Monday.
