Recommend a build please

alright folks. I’m new to wrapping my own Clapton’s. I did some 26 core with 40 wrap fused Clapton’s in kanthal and wasn’t thrilled with them. I’m building in a Bonza RDA and Hive RTA if it matters.

Looking for something that ramps fast and hits like a truck.

I’m thinking 26 core 36 wrap NI80 or NI90?

I see a lot of discussions on wire type and different style builds vs others but not a ton on exactly what fused Clapton build produced the best performance. Thanks!

28 gauge 316l SS twisted. Ramp up is fast and hits like a truck. Simplify things, the multiple wired exotic coils look good but you can get just as good performance from single wire coils. Good wicking on a good rda can match anything an exotic build can do.

I must respectfully disagree with Rooster on this one. A round single wire coil doesn't perform like an Alien coil for example. It's a matter of surface area. Simple science. Plus 40 gauge on a fused Clapton can and often does mute flavors. Try a 36 over 26 or 28 Nichrome 80 coil and see how that goes. As a coil builder with my own coil building business, I've experimented a lot with different types of coils and 40 gauge wrapping is really hit or miss. On a fused Clapton, it's a miss.

By the way, if you're interested in quick ramp up time and hard hitting, it's kind of a balancing act. 36 over 26 will hit hard but ramp a little slower than say 36 over 28. But even though the 36 over 28 ramps faster, it won't hit quite as hard as 36 over 26. Make sense?

Thanks man. Makes absolute sense. Honestly slow ramp doesn’t bother me, BUT I’m trying to get more usable battery life. I work offshore and keeping batteries charged and swapping them out constantly is a pain. I don’t know if it’s correct or not but in my mind a faster coil has to receive power for a shorter time to deliver the hit and therefore will be easier on my batteries?

I would go 36 over 28 for battery life.

I'm trying my hand at a 2×28/38 fused clapton. Will that work out ok? Now I'm questioning if I should have gone with 36g wrap. @VAPEROXX
