If you have trouble coiling Ribbon as it twists/turns and the coil goes wonky...try .3 Ribbon, it may be hard to work with at first since your not used to it but literally requires almost no tension il and never do the turning crap...added resistance is also nice as it gives you more options for builds are usable.

Yeah, that's what I also found. That stapled helix coil in my 2nd pic uses 32g Ni80 twisted for the frames, 8ply .3×.1 Ni80 ribbon, and 40g Ni80 for the wrap wire, whereas that wonky staple coil in my 1st pic uses 8ply .4×.1 Ni80 ribbon and 40g Ni80.

Apologies for no pics atm, but did something I thought was a little neat this morn. Made up some 28 awg single strand Clapton wound with 32 awg both wire material was NiChrome 80. Then, I got a bit silly. Put two of these bits of line together and wrapped them fused together with 32 awg again. It looks eh, okay and I got a nice 0.35 Ω coil wrapping 3.5 mm ID. :) Might have my witch snap a few pics later. I'm no good using a phone camera. I can do it but well my pics on it look crappy.

Just a minor note. I use vice grip pliers, a swivel that i hook into a desk drawer. Been having my wire snap using just the pliers to crimp and hold to twist it. Plastic coated paper clips help. I can "tie off" the wire to them and crimp the paper clip instead of the wire, which helps avoid getting near half done then, losing tension because the wire snaps.

Excuse me for interrupting the coil porn.

Sounds cool! Maybe like a groove fuse or stagger fuse. When you get a chance you should post pics so we can see! :D

Will do, posting a pic or two. Last night wife come in totally drained. She had three days off in midweek & then, back right at it a full day. I kind of respectfully neglected asking her to shoot a couple pics. That's one of things us inconsiderate bastards of husbands do. :) ;) :p Yep, we totally feel empathy for a spouse who has just pulled a crap day and then go all Donald Trump anyway. *chuckles* Not, at least not the Trump bit.

Yeah, I kind of thought it might be considered a staggered fused or something. At the time i was just piddling and thought, "hm, this is too thin. I know, I'll double it up. Hinky, it looks like it might work." So I did and it does. :) if i forget capitalizing i's forgive my decade in a N*x type of computing, hackers are lazy if the truth is told. ooops, did i type that out loud?

Also i need :coffee: & am to go foolin round with firewood today after 9 AM, splitting with a hydraulic press I think. Then, who knows what else her dad will put me to doing.

Updating: Got two pics this morn. They are rough, I did them instead of the wife.

I don't use the torch because it's going to expand. Rather, I use the torch because if I don't, it looks like shit with or without colors:

View attachment 121735

But a while ago I posted a pic of a coil that I made without torch also so as you can see, torch isn't always needed to prevent the ribbon twisting:

That’s a really Nice staple helix!

Here's a thing. Not done yet. About 1/2 way down a 5 inch stick and another 5 inch stick to do. Having to hand wrap the the ribbon on cause I have to adjust the crimps as I go. My wrist is killing me. This might be a few days of little bits here and there to finish it. I'll post the coil when it's done.

Havent been on in awhile but I bought the new drop dead rda today and put a build in it with a couple 5 core aliens and it's just amazing ! I love the deck the flavor and makes no noise at full open on the airflow ! I am in love with this baby and plan on setting it up on squonk mode shortly. Cant beat that juice capacity ! I was so stoked on trying it out I forgot to take pics before I had already vaped on it . Lol
And was looking at the usuals ( u no who u are ) work and everyone has really stepped it up even from the last time I posted! Keep up the good work and keep vaping ! Cheers !

Some staggered fused Clapton action. Decided I want to try get a triple core one of these in MTL form ;) these are the highest gauges I've used for this type of build too so off to a good start. 3*29g ni80/38g/38g ss316l. Ohms at .19 ID 3.5.
4 core is yet to be installed but is 5mm ID.

That's awesome ..but damn you, I was just feeling fine when you go and show razorbacking, something I Still have yet to do!!! :cuss2: :teehee:
OH you don't get to play martyr when you just did a 52g alien. I tried with 46 the other day. It was retched lmao. Honestly though with your wire xp razorbacks should be something you shouldn't have to put to much time into to nail down. Grab a couple of legos to run the ribbon between and your off to the races. Once you feel how it works it's just a matter of a steady hand, which I don't have. So, if I can do it you can!!

Legos...! Crap, hadnt heard of that method. Been dreading potentially wrecking my only ceramic tweezers doing it that way, and trying to figure out some other ceramic holder contraption thing for it...

Thanks, man

Oh yah ... i couldn't imagine doing it any other way. Here's my razorback setup. A lot of people use plastic baggies to hold their spools when they can't. But My desk drawer works amazingly well :D

Thank you! Cost me a pretty penny. Had to pull back on some other stuff out of the budget for it.

Yah I've been meaning to do another, less intricate, binary since my enigma didn't pan out.

Sssssooooo ... I couldn't help but look at my staggered razorback and think ... "I betchyah I could decore that!" ....
These aren't enough for a coil cause it was experimentation. But I WILL be making a coil tomorrow.
