Thanks. Yes I used a key ring fob to keep them flat as I wrapped them. Been reading in this forum on how to do it. You guys and gals are great to get tips from. And the pics that get posted here are great.

Got my death trap 30mm in the mail today from @raymo2u . He hooked me up with a beautiful monster coil. It’s the first time I’ve ever had a coil that someone else made, it feels wierd lol. But wow I’ve never seen high gauge wire and advanced builds in person, it’s tiny! Do you use magnification, have sharp vision, and/or play by feel and angle? That goes for you to @Pegleg Meg ! That wire is tiny..

Not sure. I’m guessing nichrome, 46 wrapped ribbon stack in the middle, pitchfork with 42 and 40 on the outsides, but I’ve never had a coil with these gauges in person so maybe @raymo2u can clue us in

Thats only 42g stagger and Fuse but the Staple inside is 46g, hope you enjoy it! I dont use magnification (gives me headaches)....and I have astigmatism. You just get used to the size with experience and learn how it behaves when using it and it makes it easy after a while, 36g now feels very thick but I still remember when I first got 40g and it blew my mind people actually work with that...

I have a pair of staples at 0.085 that I have to "machine gun" on a fully charged unregulated mod, if I put it on a VW mod I like between 60-70 watts for a full long puff (I think its around 2.8 v)

With an RDA like the golem I could fit wider ribbon stacks and 5 wraps, though, and that could handle a full battery I think

Just noticed the slipping ribbons looking back at the pic. Alien wrap was a little too big for the stack I think, to loose. I knew it was wrapping around the jig funny hah now I know why

4 is pretty big, but it’s for a single coil build. I haven’t vaped it so not sure but probably wicks good.

Guys, I'm having what I think is an issue with Quad core Aliens. I'm doing 28g x4 in 36g all NI80...I can't consistently get the cores to stay totally parallel or to have the hump on only one side. The two inner cores stagger and leave the finished wire with humps on both sides so no matter which side I wrap I get the rounded look instead of the flat. I've tried binding it with ribbon like I do Framed Staples, I've tried my wire holders and with both only sometimes I get them to stay parallel, though they don't collapse on me. I've "perfect" stretched and under stretched to near no stretch and it's the same. I'd say 1 in every 10 coils come out nice and flat. My question is am I doing something wrong or is this the way quad cores usually come out?
Basically I want the cores looking like this: OOOO or OooO but I get OoOo.

If you bind and hot glue both ends of the 4x28, pull the stick tight/straight after glueing, keep your ribbon slider less than an inch in front of your alien wrapping, and fully stretch your decore, it should stay flat

I leave about an inch of extra stick past the binding/hot glue on the swivel end to loop around the swivel

Be sure to use toothless pliers after binding the ends and while setting up the ribbon slider to flatten the bindings

I hope that helps, I'm making a 5x30/36 alien later, I could take pictures

You got any 26 or 28 or 30g, and some 36g or higher? It's a pretty easy build, just twist and clapton

I dont think I've ever actually tried to twist and then Clapton lol I've always just made a fused Clapton and then twisted that. I wonder if theres much difference between the two?? not really a fan of twisted coils, but I'm quite curious now.

It's a good vape - only difference between fused and twisted for sure is higher resistance, twisted might hold more juice I dunno

Yeah, I got one, the BF version, it's super except for only 2 things

Gets hot fast with 20+ amp current
Paint is coming off

I still use it all the time, I just quit using really low ohm coils in it at 70 watts

The 2 battery version may not have that heat problem, but I would look it up
