Pistachio Ice Cream

I think I got lucky with this one, it only took 2 tries. I'm so glad I was finally able to get a hold of some Marzipan. It really blends in well with the Pistachio and creams. The real ice cream calls for almond extract, so I used FA Almond in my first batch along with 1% Pistachio. The 1% Pistachio was too much and I felt Marzipan would help with some sweetness while giving a mellower almond back note. This is tasting great with only a one day steep.
Pistachio(FA) .5%
Vienna Cream(FA) 1.75%
Fresh Cream(FA) 1%
Marzipan(FA) .5%
(2mg-30PG/70)
I really love Pistachio Ice Cream, but haven't seen it in the stores.

Edit: My favorite version
I like this version much better after a 10 day steep. CAPs VBIC needs a long steep to really get that melted ice cream thing going on and the FA Pistachio to really mellow into it.
Pistachio(FA) .5%
VBIC(CAP) 5%
Sweet Cream(CAP) 1%
Marzipan(FA) .5%
Vanilla Classic(FA) .5%

Yum .... Pistachio ice cream is one of my favorites. That pistachio is super strong and really makes itself noticed in a recipe. Looking forward to trying this one. Might be good with a touch of the new yogurt in there too.

Just mixed this up. Really nice Squonk. I've since added a tad of coconut and vanilla bourbon to it too as I have a sweet tooth tonight.
Love a good gelati mix.

Much appreciated Squonk. Keep em coming!

I'm glad you like it. I was thinking coconut myself. How much did you add? I was thinking .25% to "butter up" the flavor of the nuts.

I added roughly 0.5 of coconut and vanilla. Works pretty well

Yea the original recipe was tasty, and they might not be an improvement, I'm just a vanilla coconut fiend. Add them to most things :D

This is to die for!

Spiced nut salad-

1/3 cup (55g) sultanas
1/3 cup (80ml) Marsala
1 green apple
1 cup green grapes, halved
1 bunch rocket leaves

Soak the sultanas in the Marsala for 10 minutes & drain.

For the nuts you will need
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp coriander seeds
1/4 tsp allspice
3 whole cloves
the seeds from 2 cardamom pods
half a cup of pistachios
half a cup of cashews
1 tablespoon olive oil

Grind the spices together in a mortar and pestle.

In a dry frying pan, toast the nuts over medium-low heat for 2 minutes (keep an eye on them as nuts burn easily)
Then add the spices and fry for 30 seconds. (don't have the pan too hot.)
Add the olive oil and stir for 3 or 4 minutes until the nuts begin to glisten
(this stops them from going soggy in the salad) Drain on a paper towel. Just before serving,
cut the apple into matchsticks and toss with the nuts, grapes, rocket and sultanas.
Drizzle some oil over the top and sprinkle with sea salt. Yum.

We might be able to adapt something out of this to vape. If we just drop all of the sweet and spicy flavours, maybe we could make an olive oil, salt and rocket mix

OH CRAP! Now I need more cooking ingredients. I can't win. But damn that sounds great!

I'm going to give that a try in a tester(now that I have one seasoned)at .25%, but I'm going to make a bigger bottle as originally posted. I was using the real Pistachio Ice Cream recipe as a guide and none that I found used Vanilla, but, even still, I went with Vienna cream.

I noticed this too, only cause I was thinking of using Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.
But alas, I don't have any Pistachio anyway.
And another one goes on the list:).

Caps VBIC is always out of stock at ECX. I might have to grab some from BCV. I've been wanting to try it since it came out. I'm hoping it has a good creamy feel, not custard like, creamy. I really like the 2 to 1 ratio of FA Vienna and fresh creams(from the mind of HIC), but want a better mouth feel.

Alas, no pistachio here either.....wish I'd been thinking of this with my last two orders, maybe I would've ended up with a pistachio instead of two coconut candys.....:(

I should have sent you a few mls. A 10ml bottle will last me forever.

Damn this sounds good! I'm going to make a 4 hour round trip drive to Detroit this morning when I get off work to pick up some of those flavorings I don't have.

I mixed up another version yesterday using CAPs VBIC and a minor tweak or 2. I'll post it if it turns out good. CAPs VBIC takes a good 5 days to really come through.

I have that on my list of flavors to get so let me know how it turns out. I just started doing this last week so I'm still trying to wrap my head around percentages well enough to be able to really experiment with some kind of a clue. Probably put a good six hours into reading posts on here and other sites just to come up with a list of flavors to expand my cupboard.

So my dumbass thought I already had Vienna Cream and didn't get it when I was at the store. I was able to get VBIC from FW and used that instead with the percentages you have for VC in here. Not lookin too good as of now. I think I'm going to have to try a different cream substitute along with the VBIC. Any recommendations?

I haven't used FW VBIC, but I would imagine you would need to bump up the %.

Most definitely bump it up. I have that one, and it pales in comparison to Caps and TFA. I'd go so far as to say nearly double the amount of the latter two.

I'm just trying my newest version using CAPs VBIC and it's extremely smooth and creamy. The VBIC really smooths out the FA Pistachio. I'm actually tempted to up the Pistachio to .75%, but the way it is now, it's very enjoyable. The addition of .5% FA Vanilla Classic works like it was made for CAPs VBIC. Here's what I did.
Pistachio(FA) .5%
VBIC(CAP) 5%
Sweet Cream(CAP) 1%
Marzipan(FA) .5%
Vanilla Classic(FA) .5%

:eek:What? Wait, hold the presses. Teresa doesn't have Pistachio? It's a strong one and will last a loooong time. That's why I like adding a touch of Marzipan to it. In my original posted mix it was way up front at .5%. With my latest version you almost have to search for it.

From what I've experienced so far you are on the money with that assumption. I'm getting a slight pistachio flavor and not much else right now. Going to mix up some more tomorrow and bump it up by 1 1/2 to 2% and see what happens.
