PG-less and VG-less juice

French company Ilixir has created an e-liquid that contains neither VG nor PG. The only solvent is a substance they call "vegetol". A little googling reveals that vegetol is really 1,3-propanediol, a close cousin of PG (1,2-propanediol). It seems to be used mostly as a food flavor enhancer, and in cosmetic products.

The Wikipedia page states that 1,3-propanediol is safe for inhaling. But then it says the same thing about PG and I know first hand it's not true. So I'll give "vegetol"-based juice a miss myself.

Still, it's genuinely novel, and not many things in the vaping world are. So if you want to try it out, apparently it's only available from French distributor VapoClope. Good opportunity to brush up on your Francais to place an order I guess :)

Another substitute is glycerin of palm. The juice made over at Guilty Pleasures Organics uses it.

It is AND it's probably a lot less pure than the USP glycerin most of us use. More natural is not always better.

I have no idea if the glycerin of palm is better or worse. I just remember reading about the woman at Guilty Pleasures and all her organic stuff.

I could definitely be wrong, but this is what it seems like to me....
VG is an extraction. PG is a concoction.
VG is extracted from plants. PG is concocted from plants or petroleum.
I'll stick with the plant extraction. PG gives me a headache anyway.

Hmm no: there's VG that tastes of VG, and bad quality, tainted VG that tastes off. But the taste of pure VG is pure VG and nothing else.

actually.. the humeco vg from good ol' wallly world makes flavors muted..

would that be considered "off"?? :D
