French company Ilixir has created an e-liquid that contains neither VG nor PG. The only solvent is a substance they call "vegetol". A little googling reveals that vegetol is really 1,3-propanediol, a close cousin of PG (1,2-propanediol). It seems to be used mostly as a food flavor enhancer, and in cosmetic products.
The Wikipedia page states that 1,3-propanediol is safe for inhaling. But then it says the same thing about PG and I know first hand it's not true. So I'll give "vegetol"-based juice a miss myself.
Still, it's genuinely novel, and not many things in the vaping world are. So if you want to try it out, apparently it's only available from French distributor VapoClope. Good opportunity to brush up on your Francais to place an order I guess
