    Hey,

I have been vaping for 2 years. It took me 2 days to quit a 27 year cigarette habit. For me vaping was the best smoking cessation technique ever.

My girlfriend is trying to quit smoking and wants to try vaping. She uses my old eleaf ijust2 a bit but, wants to get serious about quitting. In an effort to make it easier for her I think I should get her a better device. I found starting out with a variable wattage device helpful to get used to vaping.

I guess what we are looking for is something basic and reasonably priced, variable output, with a top fill tank, that has descent juice capacity. Easy to work, easy to fill, and holds 4mls or do of juice

When I start shopping for vape stuff the choices are kinda overwhelming if you are not in the know.

    Any advice? Thank you.

    Heya,

since you use an ijust2, I assume Dtl vaping rather than Mtl?

Would you prefer an internal battery or an external?

How much power output do you want? There's the Vaporesso Revenger kit, but I think that would be way too much for the beginning. Maybe something along the lines of a Cleito or Melo 3?

What exactly do you want "better" than the ijust 2?

Pico with supertank mini would be good and reliable. Wouldn't be expensive either.
I thought the cleito had great flavour but mine had a tendacy to leak!

Not a bad decision, the Melo 3 has a pretty good flavor/clouds balance and works well with almost any liquid flavor-wise :)
Especially for the price in a kit.

I must say I liked the Cleito a bit more flavor wise, but the kit price makes up for that.

I especially liked fruity and tobacco-flavored liquids in the Melo.

The melo 3 ain't half bad and the coils last a good while so not a bad idea to go for that kit to be fair.
Or the vaporesso swag kit if your gonna go down that route. The NRG se tank it comes with isn't 4ml your after though!

The Vaporesso Tarot Nano mod along with the Veco Plus tank comes to mind (surprise surprise, I own both :D)

The mod itself is relatively petite, has a decent built in battery, and variable wattage. The Veco Plus tank has 4mL capacity, is top fill, and takes EUC coils, which are dirt cheap, saving money in the long haul.

That's great to hear. I just started vaping with a box a few days ago so I don't have much to contribute. However I got the Aspire Cleito 120 watt tank and it's constantly leaking the entire tank of juice if I don't keep it upright all the time, kind of a pain. All of the different options can definitely be overwhelming at first, I just bought a box I found online that I like the design of and wasn't too expensive. It didn't come with the tank like I was expecting tho

I started vaping and quit smoking at the same day about a month ago.im smoking for around 15yrs. Im a 2 packs a day smoker from the last 6yrs im 30 now. I dont know a lot about vaping but my 1st box mod was a xomo laser gt 255s with a 3500mah lipo batts. and a geekvape zeus dual coil rta. I enjoyed using the zeus rta mainly because it does not leak and can blow a decent cloud given im using .21ohms dual coil. But i would not suggest a built in battery in xomo laser because it didnt even last a day for me. So i decided to keep it and switched to a MODEFINED DRACO 200W with a variable wattage from 5w to 200w im using it around 40-50w.unlike the xomo laser it only has a minimum of 50w to 100w to 150w. People on my area called it gears. Got a golisi 4slots inteligent charger and 2 pairs or samsung 25r 18650 batteries. Haven't even smoked cigarttes since the day i started vaping. [IMG][IMG]

Thanks guys. I have had good luck with eleaf products. I went with the 75w pico tc. I got myself one too. I have been wanting to try a temp control device. It is really confusing buying this stuff online if you really don't know what you are doing. If there was a really good vape shop around I wouldn't mind paying them the extra 30 or 40% they charge over online dealers. It is nice to be able to look at things in person, ask questions, and get advice. But, if your prices are high and the service is mediocre I'm going to buy online.

Thank you everyone for your help.

I love my Pico or I should say Pico family I own now. The are not getting much love at the moment. When you are ready to try temp control look into Arctic Fox firmware for your Pico.
It will make a world of difference.

New here so forgive me if I'm breaking etiquette and should start a new thread, but I just got the Tarot Nano kit and the first time I filled the tank it worked like a champ day 1, but by the next morning the coil chamber was completely flooded. I could pour juice out through the drip tip. Have you ever had that problem with your Veco? I'm trying to figure out if I got a defective tank or if it's a design flaw or what. I'm bummed because the vape was "just right" for me. Not overwhelming like a full sized tank, but more than I get from a pod system.

That's abnormal in my experience. I've never had a drip/leak from my Veco Plus tank in the 4-5 months I've had it, and I fill it to the brim and carry it around in my pocket regularly. Assuming it's not a defective tank, only thing I can think of is that you got some juice where it didn't belong when filling it up.

If that is the Veco tank on top of that thing, they do that if you leave the airflow open. Its a gravity thing and the way those coils are packed.

For now, blow down through the airflow and clear it. Then close the airflow and draw the tank back into a vacuum. When you are done vaping for the night, close the airflow and in the morning take a couple of puffs with the airflow closed before opening it up. You should not have this problem any longer.

I closed the airflow off last night and this morning the tank was a wee bit flooded, but nothing like it was the day before. And I cleared it easily thanks to your advice. It's vaping like a champ again. Thank you so much! I'm still relatively new to vaping and trying to find my 'sweet spot'. Pod systems are "too small" and most sub-ohm tanks are "too big" but this little Veco tank is just right. Great flavor and it doesn't produce clouds that fill the house (I live with a non-vaper).

What VG/PG ratio is the juice being used, most say it on the side of the bottle? There sounds like something is still a bit off. You should not realistically be having any leaking with the airflow closed (or ultimately open for that matter).

Indeed. I flipped my Veco Plus tank over this morning before my first vape of the day to check for leakage, and nada. That's with the airflow 2/3 open all night, tank mostly full, and 70/30 vg/pg juice.

It's Juice Dimensions' Milk Tron. 70 VG

I can't see any way for the juice to get from the tank to the coil except through the cotton (well, I guess ceramic in this case. 1st coil was cotton, this one is ceramic), but next time it is empty I'll double check to see if there's an o-ring at the bottom that might be leaking, or something?

I am no expert on the ceramic coils by any stretch and my wife jumped ship on that tank some time ago. Let me see if I still have it and some coils and will play with it. She had issues with hers because her juice was super thin and it would basically weep all of the liquid out after a period of time. Your issue sounds like something else.

Wow, that is very kind, but don't inconvenience yourself on my account. It's definitely usable the way it is and I have you to thank for that. I mean if you just love a tank mystery then I'd be interested to hear what you discover but please only do it if you're genuinely curious about what is going on.

If I have the tank still and some coils it would be worth it Pete. You are more likely to stay at vaping if your experience is a good one. I will check this afternoon when I get done working.

Oh I've already gone overboard on devices, I'm not backing out now! :) I have an Aspire Breeze 2, a couple of mods, a couple of sub-ohm tanks and just got my first rebuildable (a Berserker RDA). Vaping is really appealing to my inner gadget nerd! Maybe a bit too much!! Though this Veco is still giving me the best flavor and a perfect intensity of vape for me.

So not to beat a dead horse, but day 3... last night the juice level was pretty low when I went to bed. This morning, no flooding at all. So maybe the trick is to not fill the tank all the way, or maybe the coil just needed to 'break in' to hold back the liquid when the device sits. This morning I had a delicious, trouble free vape. What a way to start the day!

Edit: Spoke too soon. Filled the tank, grabbed it for a vape a few hours later... totally flooded. Maybe I'm over-filling it? Will continue to experiment.

So my adventure continues. Last night I took the tank apart and really examined it. The only way I can see for juice to flow from the tank to the inside of the coil is through the 'cotton' (which of course is what it is supposed to do) or by getting through the seal at the bottom of the tank. If it is flowing through the cotton too quickly and flooding the tank, I'm not sure what I can do to fix it so I turned my attention to the bottom of the tank. This is the only user-servicable O-ring at the bottom of the tank:
    upload_2018-8-16_10-48-16.png

See how it is kind of 'textured'? I wondered if it is supposed to be like that. I pulled it out and it is taller than most O-rings. It's more an O-cylinder. And the part you can't see is perfectly smooth and round. So on a whim I turned it over and so this 'textured' part goes into the gap between the two walls, and the smooth section is exposed. I just thought maybe, somehow, it got installed wrong at the factory (sadly they don't give you an extra one of these with the tank, though they do supply extras of the other o-rings).

So we'll see how that goes. Last night the tank was almost empty and this morning, no flooding, but it seems to only happen when the tank is full. If this doesn't work I'll just treat the tank as a semi-dripper and only put in a little juice at a time, I guess.
