I'm getting very muted flavor with my kayfun lite 2019. I'm using 26g 316l wire spaced coil injunction with temperature control 50/50 blacknote ejuice.
I cant seem to get good favor out of this tank 2.5mm I.D coil tried 3mm I.D multiple differnt wick thicknesses just cant seem to get it. Any help would be appreciated. [IMG]

Is that the 24mm or the 22mm? I run 2mm ID coils in both my 24mm clone and 22mm authentic. You'll get more airflow around your coil that way. I also go with contact coils but I don't think that should matter too much.

Can you post pics of your build?

Dig the sandstorm, one of my favorite mods. The build I enjoy in my 2019 is 32X2/38 ss fused clapton 2.5 mm 6 wraps around 1 ohm. I agree with R3aljim Shady, would like to see the build/wick, 2mm may be worth a shot, also because of less cotton. Too much cotton can definitely mute flavor.

Forgot to mention that I use Ni80, 29g, 9 wraps, 2mm ID, no spacing. Comes out to between 1.3 and 1.4 ohms usually.

Yep, looks like too much cotton. You're blocking your airflow... your coil also be 1-2mm above the airflow hole but I don't think coil height is the issue here.

Try either thing out the tails you have there a bit or build a 2mm coil, IMO. Let us know how it goes for you! Good luck!

It's the 24mm version I might pick up the 22mm if I can get the flavor right I live the size of the tank and durability I seem to go thru a lot of glass tanks. I originally bought the 24mm for my SX mini SL-CLASS. But just pickup the Jac japor theirs a little overhang but not to bad since the JAC is the 23mm version.

I could be imagining things but I think my 24mm, which sits on my Squid Detonator, has more airflow than my 22mm. Have you fine tuned your airflow yet? That may help on the flavor front as well.

Normally I'd say the resistance is too low for the airflow, but since you're using TC it doesn't really matter. I'd give it a go in straight wattage to see if that has any effect.

I don't usually vape TC, but it could be affecting your flavor too.

I really enjoy the sandstorm mod. It took a minute to get used to. I thought my yihi was was easyer but it was what I was used to using for so long but I do like using the escibe software.
I tried out the 2mm I.D coil build with less cotton. A little better but my natilus 2 has so much better flavor with the same eliquid. 50/50 blacknote. I tryed out a 70/30 it was defenetly better with the thicker liquid would of thought the thinner would wick better having better flavor but I'm having no luck it's frustrating as hell I want to like this tank . I'm going to have to go get some thinner wire and try that out.

Are you sure it's not you're TC settings? Did you try it in straight power mode?

I did try straight power mode. Did yet another build 2mm ID .95 ohms not spaced. It's getting better but somethings got to be off. Wire, cotton, I have my natilus 2 with .7 coil same juice and it has such better flavor. Now I'm new to the RTA world but it seems with the research iv done I'm expecting same or better flavor from the kayfun. Watched as many reviews and builds I could find and did a lot of different resistance builds spaced and not spaced now 2mm 2.5 3mm all different wick densitys and played with coil height. I get no flooding or spitback good vapor production but very little flavor. Compared to the natilus 2 tank. I'm tired buying pre built coils for the natilus and like building the coils I like to tinker with my stuff. Am I expecting to much from this tank?

Honestly I'm at a loss here. My rebuildables always have better flavor than stock coils.

Are you vaping it MTL? Typically I build my MTL RTAs above 1 ohm. It very well could be that your builds are requiring too much power to produce flavor due to the lower resistance? This is just a guess, mind you.

Yes im am vaping it MTL. I appreaciate any input as I'm kind of stumped also thanks for all your help as its giving me more to try and think about I'm going to pick up some ni and kenthal wire tomarrow and some smaller guages and try that. I use a ni 200 for temp control in my natilus and the standard coil and their great. But like I said I won't buy another coil I'm tired of them. Plus I just ordered a Prime from dicode usa so I'll have that to keep trying on. I just better by 100f spoils of wire and 10 lbs of cotton with all the coils I'm building LOL .

Maybe worth a shot, do you happen to have any Kanthol? I have, am currently using, and in love with 4 2019's. I have three 24 mm and one 22 mm. All with the extensions. I don't notice a flavor loss between 24mm and 22mm. I have built them with 316 ss (26g and 28g), and fould I like them way better with kanthol. Not really sure why, but definitely do. I agree with some of the above comments, I like my mtl close to or just above 1 ohm.
I build them with 28g kanthol, 7 1/2 wraps, 2.5mm id, or 26g kanthol, 8 1/2 wraps, 2.5mm id. Comes off with fantastic flavor, although reading this I might give 2 mm a try just to see. I do not "pack" the wick in, but fairly snug I would say. I do think the tails as well, although I would say only a little. Much less than many atty's. What pg/vg juice are you using? Hope this helps and you get it figured out, I love the damn things....

No I going to pick up some kenthal tomarrow to try it out. And some differnt cotton. I'm using 50/50 blacknote ejuice. Which is great in my natilus 2 tank. Not so much with my builds on the 2019.

Just read that, sorry. Yeah, maybe that will help. I have a Nautilus 2, and these blow it out of the water, IMO. Maybe try thinning wicks a bit as well, really does help

If I thin the tails anymore it wants to flood the tank. The center of my cotton is saturated with liquid if I pull it out which iv done way too many times trying to fiqure this out.

OK, I have thinned to the point of flooding as well, so maybe that's not it. Sorry, really wish I could help more.

Thanks guys for all the help. I ended up purchasing some kenthal and 28g ss316. But the real change was from changing my cotton that was the game changer also thinning out my cotton more I took a minute but deffently worth it again thanks for all the help !!

I used a kayfun for years. 28g contact coils worked best. Also, the coil should only be as wide as the airflow hole. Maybe just a hair wider, but not much. Fairly dense cotton in the coil with the tails thinned out some. The last pic posted looks pretty close to what the build should look like. The wick tails look like a little much though. Good luck. Oh, and about 2.5mm was a good inner diameter for the coil.

I switched to EKO-WOOL 3mm mineral wick and 26 ga Kanthol. Larger capillary chanels. Lasts longer too...

26g is too thick for the kayfuns small chamber. 28g is ideal.
