Hi LadyRed! I too am in search of good clove kretek. And as I have yet to order and mix for the first time I'll see how it goes. I know Jimi d has a recipe on reddit I think using INW FLAVORS. I am not willing to spend lots of $ on tabacco flavors as I now hate the taste. I am an excellent cook however. I am thinking of buying the INW flavors of Garcia tab abs as in Jimi's recipe & FA clove. RATHER than horehound I am going to add anise, then perhaps a bit of vanilla & maple if it needs sweetening. I read kretek was made w 70% tabacco 30% clove and the paper was sprayed with sugar, maple, & licorice. I also red kretek contained anise somewhere and that numbing agent that dentists use that starts w an e. As I haven't yet ordered would welcome your suggestions. THANKS! These are just my thoughts as I am a newbie.

I believe you are referring to Euganol, which is one of the main chemicals found in oil of clove. It is my understanding that most clove flavorings also contain mostly euganol. I've been curious as to whether euganol is safe for inhalation long term. Again, it could be that in quantities used in e-liquid, it is mostly or completely harmless, but it is listed as hepatotoxic (harmful to the liver) and can cause rapid heartbeat. NOT TO ALARM ANYONE- again, this could be very high doses we are talking about here and we know clove oil has been used in clove cigarettes for years on end "safely". Just something else to look into for those who are research minded.

I'm just guessing, but FA Clove probably contains some eugenol (it makes cloves taste like cloves). I did find one study if anyone is curious: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF00293627# Sorry again, didn't mean to derail your nice recipe thread here! Also found out- the LD50 for Eugenol is something like 3000mg/kg- meaning a 100 lb person would have to consume over 136 grams of pure euganol for a lethal effect! The small amount you would get from even vaping straight clove oil would be negligible, probably nothing to worry about!

You should assume FA Clove definitely DOES use eugenol. That's the compound that tastes like clove. In fact, actual clove oil consists of about 80% eugenol. There are ways to produce eugenol synthetically (which still produces precisely the same compound), but it's easier and cheaper to use actual clove oil. It's in most cinnamon flavors, too.

If you want to verify, you could open a support ticket with FA here: http://flavourartexpress.biz/index.php?dispatch=pages.view&page_id=260 and just ask if they will list which of their e-cig flavorings contain eugenol.

O smoky I am sure I would but I didn't want to start out w so many flavors. This is going to b my first order and I'm having major issues w coils only lasting a day in my nautilus. I spend more vaping right now than when I smoked. Guess it gotta find a reliable vender for coils and batteries online. No luck locally

Thanks smoky i use a glassomizer tank. My guess is the clone spinner 2 is a dud and bad coils. U ever order from rock bottom vapor. Heard from two people in here they were amazing. I just want a battery and coils that work. In the past 3 months I've averaged 3 coils a week. On my 4th crapy battery. And tanks all good

All I use are mechs with drippers..
I wrap a coil for the dripper and don't have to worry on much of anything except my cotton..
i change out my cotton bout every other day.. coils are a month to 2 months..

I only use the 2 links i popped up, besides fasttech..

Gotcha. I assumed as much. Thanks for your help. I was looking at the k1 @ rock bottom $7.25 $ bvc 5 pk $8.95. Vamo V6 $36.95 or V5 kit $45. I spoke w a few who ordered and said they did good w coils there. Also has an 1100 ego clone 4 $11. Idk. I have a protank mini 3. Great taste & nautilus is ok to me. I read on site not to use new kangertech sub ohm coils on ego batteries today. No wonder I went thru 1 a day. I wonder if same is true for new nautilus bvc coils? Hmmm maybe tanks and coils would work w vamo. The one who ordered k1 said it was great on ego battery? Thoughts on which way to go ?
