The treasure hunter's tools have become the hunted. A fedora worn by Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom sold for a hefty sum on Tuesday during a Prop Store Auction in Los Angeles. The winning bid for the iconic piece of costuming was $300,000.

The final total landed well above the estimate for the item's winning bid. The auction house predicted that the fedora would net somewhere between $150,000-$200,000. The winning bidder was not identified.

"Created by Herbert Johnson Hat Company, who also did the hats for Raiders of the Lost Ark, the fedora was a slight update on the original film’s version," reads the auction's description for the fedora. "Costume designer Anthony Powell and assistant costume designer Joanna Johnston worked closely with Herbert Johnson on the update that incorporated a more tapered crown than the prior film... The fedora is in excellent condition, showing light wear with some signs of age, and comes stored in a plastic hat box."

This isn't the first time that Harrison Ford's previous costumes have netted high totals. In 2018, Prop Store auctioned the jacket worn by the actor for his role as Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back for an expected final bid around £1 million. That auction also included the likes of Indiana Jones' bullwhip, Tyler Durden's robe from Fight Club, and Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

While the Temple of Doom fedora earned $300k, that total is still dwarfed by the winning bid for Harrison Ford's Raiders of the Lost Ark fedora. The hat from the first Indiana Jones movie earned $500k at auction in 2015, per The Hollywood Reporter.

In other Indiana Jones news, the series' fifth entry is currently filming in the UK. A leaked photo from set recently gave fans a glimpse at Harrison Ford back in costume. Additionally, a new 4K box set featuring restorations of the series' first four entries hit retail earlier this month.
