I have a few mods and atomizers that I mounted for high-power vaping, for shits and giggles. They really work great: the vape is dense, super-hot and flavorful... I really love it. Trouble is, after 10 tokes, I'm totally saturated and fed up with vaping for at least 30 minutes. It's just too much - and I don't even vape nic anymore.

It's like other, erhm, substances: you'd think the more you use, the better you feel. But there's a point at which your enjoyment plateaus, then goes down, then you get frustrated and dissatisfied.

So I constantly find myself going back to great atomizers of yesteryear, that produce fantastic flavor but much less vapor. I mean, still a respectable amount, but not enough to vape up a room in one minute. Sure the vape isn't as spectacular as the big boys', but I can happily vape those all day without ever getting fed up. In short, for me, less seems better.

Do any of you guys really use crazy atomizers and builds for all day vaping? Is there something I should know to avoid getting tired of them so fast?

I’m in the same boat as you. I didn’t have crazy builds but, I did buy Clapton’s & build my own coils (have the coil jig) & vape at high wattages. I use to go through 30ml in two-three days. Now after two years of that I’m back to mtl vaping. I vape a diy nic salts at a high nic level in a small pocketable device. Although I did just get a digiflavor siren 2. I just got tired of buying coils when I know I can build my own & save a ton of money. Now if the post office would just deliver my Tesla 40w mod today I’d be good to go.

And everyone acts like I'm some kind of retard to vape 2 ohm coils at 9.5w. With high-PG. :giggle:

Now, if the atty makers would just get the fuck OFF the cloud beasts and start making good MtL RDAs again.

Personally it don't matter to me if you puff on a cigalike, ego, tank..........whatever. It's what you like that keeps you vaping. Remember; it's about smoking........or not.......or some of the time. I can't vape huge clouds much, but I do have tanks with holes so big it's a waste for a over 60 years old, 40 year smoker. But they're neat to play with sometimes. Won't buy any 200 watt mods, but a 60 watt preheat is neat for a single coil, flavor chasing build. To each his own.

I picks up my Billet Box with an A-tank and Atlantis-style coil. 30 to 40 watts fills the bill for me; all, day, long.

I stay under 30w with my Nanos and loving it. Doubt I'll ever go back to mtl, too frustrating for me.

Extremes. We all gravitate towards them, even when it comes to vaping. Big clouds? I don't believe it's about quitting smoking. That would be about blowing big clouds and gaining attention. When smoking, nobody tried to impress others with the size of their clouds. They were more interested in getting their fix and getting back inside out of the rain. I like moderate clouds and restricted direct lung simply because it is the most satisfying. To me. To each his own. If you need to quit smoking, you'll find what works for you. If you need someone to call the fire department, that works too.

I loved skydiving. But just getting out the door was enough. I didn't need to join up with 237 others to get my adrenaline. But I was always a little jealous.

Well, I despise vape videos of most kinds, so checking it on youtube is a total nonstarter. However i've looked at it, and considered it, but I dunno; I'm kinda over tanks in general, and I can't figure out this "GTA" business; supposedly it's a 'genesis-tyle tank atty", but to me, a genny is one that uses mesh, not a coil, but then I'm told that you don't have to use mesh, you can use a coil, so why the fuck call it a GTA in the first place? Seems to me it doesn't really know what it wants to be, and therefore, might be what other attys are which try to be too many things to too many vapers: not any damn good for any of 'em. I'll eagerly await word of how it actually vapes, before I give it more than consideration. Which might or might not mean watching a video, hint hint to those reviewers who still remember how to put words together into sentences and paragraphs that make sense.

My son bought a Berserker recently, and the tight-draw on that is excellent... but it has a tendency to leak, so I'm not very excited about giving it a lengthy trial. I'm mostly not in favor of o-rings on their own, to make a good seal; it needs to be threads backed up with o-rings, particularly for the bottom parts of the atty, like my Achilles, or the old Kayfun Lite Plus tanks.

    LMAO
Well take it from someone that just got the siren 2, it’s good! Sorry you don’t like vape videos, I understand, some of these guys on YouTube can be annoying. I find I’m a little more informed after I read up on whatever product I’m searching for, then watch a video. Now I’ve been down the rabbit hole, I got tired of carrying around batts, chargers & extra bottles of juice. I just upped my nic level (nic salts) and upped the ohms. As far as the siren 2 goes. The deck is raised off the floor of the tank (hope that makes sense) and when you wick the coil the cotton hangs down into the tank. With a simple 9(or so) wrap coil dropped into this well designed deck, two flat head grub screws secure the coil. All good
It would be a little easier to explain if I had a video lol. Plus the $10-$20 I spend on pre-built coils for my breeze (that won’t last a month) will go towards 25 ft of coil wire that I can wrap myself & that’ll last me prob more than a year. No high wattage or low ohms means I can prob stretch a coil two weeks or so.

I also heard that the siren 2 is like a better designed berserker. 24mm & 22mm so it won’t look goofy on a mod or a side by side mod. I’m waiting on my vape mail so I can throw this siren 2 into a side by side. I’m aiming for super stealthy, something I can throw in my pocket & not have my pants fall down. And I’ll be able to rebuild coils and save some money.

Yeah, that coil mounting is something I definitely hate about it -- those kinds of coil fasteners are the biggest pain in the ass EVER... well, second only to hex-nuts. I prefer the Kayfun style, easy peasy to wrap the wire around a screw and fasten down; the Berserker has that, also the original Lemo... and my beloved Achilles. In fact the Achilles is nearly identical to the Kayfun mounting, but with slightly more room and larger screws, since it's got the 22mm wide chamber of the RDA, rather than the bitty little chamber of the kayfun. But trying to get 2 wires thru 2 holes at the same time... geez, I can't play tennis, badminton, or baseball, what makes them think anyone could be coordinated enough to fasten a coil that way?

Personally, I am another low wattage vaper at around 17.5 to 23 watts depending on the E-Liquid I am using.

I am also first and foremost a Flavor Chaser.

For me, the production of vapor is a kind of diagnostic tool that tells me the condition of my coils.

I could care less about blowing huge clouds.

And I am kind of against huge clouds outside of your own home or cloud blowing competition.

IMHO, huge clouds make us look like idiots to the non-vaping population that still outnumbers us and negates the positive view we need from them if we are ever to get vaping perceived as something positive.

I agree. I was kinda worried about that. Then I watched a video, still uneasy about it. Got it in & see I can just use my eyeglass screwdriver. Now that I think about it, I can use that screwdriver to wind the coil right? It’s 2mm isn’t it?

Kinda agree here - or wish full-time cloud chuckers would use a little discretion about how much and where

For example: Awhile back I was vaping at the smoking area of the Anchorage airport, where there is only one shelter for smokers/vapers to use to keep out of what are sometimes extreme elements

Two ramp workers for one of the regional airlines went in there and fogged the whole thing up within seconds of entering the shelter

Impressive cloudage but...if I was a smoker and ignorant about vaping, it would have been terrifying and not an appealing place to be. Didn't make me want to get in there either, truthfully

This exactly! I start breaking in a new coil/wick at 9.2w... I know what sort of vapor will come from my atty at that setting; when I'm getting what looks to be the right amount of vapor, and the taste of cotton has declined so as to be nearly unnoticeable, i know it's ok to turn up the wattage a couple tenths of a watt; rest there a while, make sure I'm seeing the right amount of vapor, till again, the flavor is seeming a bit weak but not cottony, and again go up a couple tenths of a watt. I rarely ever go over 9.8w; I don't need to! Usually 9.6w is ideal.

My batteries last for days; 56ml of ejuice lasts for 10 days; I haven't had a smoke in over 3 yrs -- what more could possibly be expected or desired from a vape?

I have to have the lung hit dtl provides. What I don't need is wattage. I'm generally okay with cloud chasers as long as they aren't rude about it. I remember blowing a few smoke rings back in the day. Don't see a difference, vape cloud, tobacco cloud; both have the potential to be obnoxious.

When I first gave up smoking i gravitated towards massive clouds to satisfy the smoking urge for a good while...after that went (around the time the tfv12 was first released) I was happy with flavour chasing although I find myself somewhere in the middle for the most part, will have to see how it goes after I go completely nic free

Much like you Giraut I do it now and again for shits n giggles but spins me out if I cain it too long, made up 10 RDAs recently for a flavour comparison between them all. I got to 6 by which point I was off my nut had to sit down for a good hour before I finished up

Vapes tend to make much bigger clouds than cigs do.

I back off vaping in my room when the little thunderbolts start up in the air.

To each their own. Do what you enjoy as long as it keeps you off the cigs. I progressed like most from pen type vapes to VV/VW mods with Nautilus tank running higher ohms with less vapor. I felt unsatisfied with my vaping experience until I got my first sub ohm rig and the obsession started from there. New mods, new tanks, then to rebuildables and DIY. I am at the point now that I enjoy quality mods and almost exclusively use DNA mods. I don't vape at really high wattage, usually 35-50 watts and build to get the best results at that wattage. I have tried higher powered mods with low subohm builds that can go through a 30 ml bottle of juice in no time but they are not for me. You just have to go with what works for you and I vape what works for me. I am not going to 2nd guess anyone for their vaping preference and just think that we are all different. I vape for a completely different reason than most smoking-cessation folks and have on occasion been told that I should have never started vaping and treated like an outcast. I just say to those folks until they have walked a mile in my shoes then they can't understand why I vape. Like I said, we are all different with different tastes and I just vape what works for me.

I used the "reasonable wattage" rigs and went back to Stinkies pretty fast. The only way to quit for me was to jump in all the way! Currently vaping TFV12 always over 100 Watts 3 milligrams of Nic. It is what I like to do.

Still enjoying my Berserker, I just bottom fill it and no problems with leaking at all.
Also just got the kayfun prime, which can really tighten the airflow on, was $120 though, but clones already popping up.
Will try the Siren V2 when the 24mm is in stock.

Seems a lot more MTL tanks coming out all of a sudden, think they are seeing a market for them again, which is great for us MTL vapors :)

How do you bottom-fill the Berserker? Because it's when I remove the topcap to refill that it begins to leak, just as a kayfun and many other tanks will do.

Just take off mod unscrew deck and fill between chimney and glass, not as easy and quick as top filling, but the vape makes it worth it for me, also you can get more juice in when bottom filling, so there is that as a plus for bottom filling it.

Ok cool. My son's had some coffee/tobacco stuff in it, so I'll boil it clean and put one of my own builds in it tomorrow -- that would be AWESOME if i could use it, its tight draw is truly amazing, and flavor seems ok too, though it's hard to know for sure, since usually about the time it got broken in, i'd refill and it would start leaking so I'd say fuck this and grab my Achilles. :giggle:

I only ever went up to 50 - 60 watts for all day vaping. I took around 3 second drags. With my current 17 - 23 watt adv setups I can hit the 10 second shutoff and almost always do 6 - 8 seconds. Both worked for me, but I also prefer a lower power vape now.

Come to think of it, that's a very good use of high-power vaping: if I couldn't vape inside and I had to go out with the smokers, I'd take a few super-hot drags so I wouldn't want to vape for quite some time after going back inside.

I'm lucky because I'm a chain-vaper and I can vape in my office at work (well, I can't legally, but I found a trick that works). But I'm thinking of changing job in a few weeks, and I just didn't think about my vaping habits. If I find myself unable to vape in my new office, I suppose I can go out and cloud-chase my head off for a few minutes every once in a while, instead of taking nice low-power drags all day long.

Attempting to lower my nicotine level was the main reason I started experimenting with larger clouds, builds, etc. For me personally I would want to double or triple my juice nicotine concentration if I went back to MTL. Once getting used to direct lung hits, it would probably be challenging to go back.........or maybe not.

What's the point of lowering your nic level if it means you compensate by vaping more liquid at higher power?

I don't see how inhaling more PG, VG, and flavorings deeper into one's lungs to get the same amount of nic can possibly be a good thing.

Not saying more VG in the lungs is a good thing. But in my case, it's kind of like a natural consequence.

Added: My flavoring level went down along with nic level. Usually do 2-3% flavoring MAX.

I'm somewhere in the middle, like letitia9 the full bodied lung hits are more satisfying. I dropped down to 3mg nic because higher on a lot of flavors or in rda's was rough on the throat. On single coil rta's I'm usually between 35-40w, on dual coil rda's I'm usually around 60-75w depending what coils are in there. Some people like hard fast inhales, I still vape similar to how I smoked which is slower more relaxed. Generally 4s draws give or take on rta's. A bit less on rda's because the airflow is more open.

I still don't come close to hitting 100w much less 200+. Even with lower resistance builds that come out around .11 to .12. Maybe it's because they're stainless and heat up faster vs kanthal. 75-80w at .12 is plenty warm for me, 100+ would burn my face.

On the bit about gennies, I thought the mesh was the wick and the coil wrapped around the mesh. I guess they call them genisis tank atomizers because they're a tank with juice wicked from the bottom to the top. Similar to clearomizers with top coils. Compared to a tank that wicks from the bottom of the juice reservoir. Like an rdta except instead of using a slip fit rda cap it's contained within a sealed tank.

YOU DO know that just because your mid does 200 watts you don't have to run it at 200 watts.....

My motorcycle does at least 2x the highest speed limit in the country. Doesn't mean I have to ride that fast.....

Me I vape at 15 watts ADV... although the build on my mech is running about 120..... it's possible to do both higher power and an enjoyable vape.

My thoughts on the massive vapor thing and people saying how great the flavor is.

Kinda like eating a Hersheys kiss vs an entire Hersheys bar in one mouthful.
Does not taste any better just more of the same taste.

    Bigger is better?

    Super Size my vape?

I did the high wattage thing for a while and it just got to be too much. Burning through nearly 30mls of juice a day seemed pretty pointless, considering my main motivation for quitting cigs was saving money. I keep it pretty simple these days; single coil RDA's, RTA's and my Kanger subtank mini at no more than 40 watts.

I also have a few step ups sitting around set up for high power vaping and like you, it gets to be too much after a little use.

This exactly -- and thus the beauty and glory that is Achilles: I was able to lower my nic and wattage, and get the same quality vape -- or actually, even better! Over about a year's time, I reduced from 10mg to 3mg, using even less wattage than with my old Kayfuns, and going thru LESS ejuice -- so now, rather than 10ml of 10mg per day -- 100mg of nic in a day's time -- I use 5ml of 3mg -- 15mg over a day's time.

Is there any wonder I blather incessantly about the Achilles?????????? (or that I naysay the idiot idea that "nicotine is soooooo addictive" -- HOGWASH!)
