Hi yawl I haz a q for u if I may regarding a flat ( fused maybe ) clapton type wire .
I think I've got the hang of building basic coils of varying diameter using the above wire type , however I have noticed that if I want a higher resistance it takes up a lot of space per wrap amount being 0.8 wide ( tis ni80), and what I'm wondering is ....is it possible to wrap on the edge of the wire, as opposed to the flat , as I would get more than double the wraps in the same space kinda thing . I do accept it could be very awkward to do( maybe impossible with my current skill levels ) but if it is manageable would there be any downsides, or possible weirdness in regards to resistance and heat build up ?

I don't think you can do that with flat wire. You would have to get the outside of the wire to grow or the inside of the wire to shrink.
