Obamacare is pretty much tax payer funded price support for insurance companies.

HC costs have been rising at double digit rates for decades.

Hmm... Are you one of those who can't handle bread products? If not, then wheat bran is one of the best high-fiber foods available, and since there are no seeds, it shouldn't irritate the diverticuli too much, but just keep things "moving along". :D I always buy the double fiber bread that Nature's Own makes; it's very tasty and does a good job! And always with high fiber... LOTS OF WATER!

Dairy products are a post-menopausal woman's best friend, for the calcium, and they'll also help you gain or retain weight, if you choose the full-fat versions. Unless of course you're lactose intolerant, but I think there are some milk products available for the lactose intolerant.

See, it's kinda like with vaping -- not everything is going to suit every body -- most of y'all prefer high VG, but it suffocates the shit outta me, so I have no choice but to use 85%-87% PG in my vape. This is really the major problem with all the "recommended guidelines" -- they can't possibly be applied perfectly to every person, because every body is different -- what I said about fats is perfectly true for most healthy people, but gallbladders like mine pitch a hairy shitfit about cholesterol, and all fats to some extent if I over-indulge -- I love the hell out of peanut butter, but the low-fat version of it is just too damn dry, and also contains added sugar... so I either avoid peanut butter, or eat it very sparingly. The real key to both good nutrition and reasonable weight is to find the correct diet for one's own body... and most folks just don't want to go to that much trouble, just like with vaping.

This attention to nutritional aspects of health is just one of the reasons my mom always called me a hypochondriac. She was very much of the "stick it in your piehole and enjoy" mentality... and now she's dead of diabetes complications, because she couldn't be bothered. Every female in my family over the age of 35 is either obese or working really hard to get that way... except for me, and my aunt -- she also takes care with her diet, though mostly because like me, she has a lot of digestive issues.

I probably could do a daily rant about nutrition in a blog... but much of what I may have to offer isn't going to apply to a lot of folks, so they'll dismiss EVERYTHING I say. Over at asshat-central, I started a thread at one point about dehydration, electrolyte problems, and why coconut water is a great thing for vapers... and was shot down immediately by those high-VG vapers who don't get the mouth dryness, so they assume that vaping ISN'T dehydrating -- even though VG and PG are BOTH hygroscopic in about equal measure; they don't get a dry mouth because VG also has emollient properties, so they think dehydration from vaping is a myth. Then there's the morons that just as soon as I mention electrolytes, start comparing me to that hyper-thyroid idiot Tripper. It's kinda like 19th century doctors' response to microbe theory -- they can't see it or perceive it, so to them, it simply doesn't exist. The guy who found out that childbed mortality decreased by FIFTY PERCENT just by the doctor's washing of hands prior to sticking them into the woman, died broke in a lunatic asylum. Just call me Cassandra. ;)

Meet the newest member of our family... Miss Annabel!

    Annabel.jpg

This lil beauty is just 3 months old; just fixed today, so we were able to bring her home. She's currently acclimating in my son's room, since she's really intended as his cat. Tuxie is bemused, terrified, befuddled... and really irked that the door to the son's room is currently closed to her. :giggle:

Because he had just snatched her up off the floor so I could take her pic... I don't think she was amused. :D She's a feisty one! I first thought her name should be "Scrappy" but my son insists that's a male name... it fits her, though. :D

Here's another new member of the family, though it currently lives on my desk as I get to know it better... say hello Moto! :giggle:

    helloMoto.jpg

Last week when my phone was trying to update apps, it informed me that I had to delete some as it didn't have enough room to update them all. Can't be having that, so I told the mate that I needed a new phone, this one with THREE GB's of RAM instead of a measly 2. This sucker FLIES! It's a Moto Z2 Play. 3GB RAM, 32GB internal ROM, plus my usual 64GB microSD chip.

OMG!!! She's beautiful!!! Since she's a tabby she should be pretty laid back. Both of my tabbies are. I'm so glad you decided to get a 2nd kitty.

If I disappear on y'all again it's because my iPad and phone have both started freezing up again. It’s taken me almost 10 minutes to get this posted. I’ll still be reading just not posting much.

She was caged with another tabby at the shelter, which I think was her sister; really too bad we couldn't take both, but I'm already afraid that a 2nd cat might challenge my allergy... but the other one was also a tabby, but much more subtly colored, like a russian blue with very subtle tabby stripes. But when I saw that lil silver face, I knew she was the one. I actually wanted to name her Athena; instead of "gray-eyed Athena," she would be "gray-furred Athena". :D The spawn countered that with Artemis, goddess of the hunt, always a good choice for a cat, but the mate thought he meant "Artemus", like on the old Wild Wild West. The mate said, how about Tabitha, and call her Tabby... the spawn said we already have one "generically" named cat, we don't need 2. :giggle: So then the spawn said "Anna", short for Diana, which is the roman version of Artemis, but I said it was too close to Andria, too confusing... so then I thought back to my mom, drunk, quoting Poe, and the "beautiful, beautiful Annabel Lee." That seemed to go over well with everyone. And we'll call her Belle, I suspect. The spawn said "Bella", but I know him, he'd be calling her "Bella Swan," so I said no fucking way are we naming this beautiful kitty after a girl who looks constantly pissed off. :D

Tuxie isn't sure what to think about any of this, but is still peeved to be shut out of the spawn's room. :giggle:

This Moto was the only one that was a substantial step up from my ZTE, which didn't cost a goddamn fortune; it'll be $10/mo for the phone, for 2 yrs, and the plan is $35/mo for 2GB (Verizon), which is better than my metroPCS $30/mo for 1GB. Though I have never even come close to the 1GB mark, it's nice to know it's there if my AT&T internet goes somewhere again, so I can do the hotspot thing and not worry about how much data I'm using.

Tomorrow I have to contact metroPCS to find out my acct number, so the phone number can be ported to the new phone... and I'm not looking forward to that, talking to them on the phone is like treading water in quicksand.

The retail price of my phone was about 800 bucks, I got it for 475 with my business account at Verizon.

This phone really is a big step up for me; the regular price is $408, which is $17/mo for 2 yrs, but they're running a promotion on it right now, which knocks $168 off the price, making it $10/mo for 24 months -- very hard to beat. I end up paying about $9-$10 more a month than I am now, but that's not a problem, so I figure it's entirely worth it. And it really is FAST! I run Nova launcher so I can customize the user experience completely, and just now I was doing a screen cap of the Kindle opening screen, so I can create my own icon for that app -- and on my old phone, that image stays on the screen for quite a few seconds, while Kindle loads -- with this one, I had to do it twice, it loads Kindle so fast, I wasn't prepared to do the screen cap that quickly! :D

I went into the spawn's room a while ago, to check on the lil gal, since he has a class this morning. She apparently adopted me as her mama on the spot, I could barely get out the door again! :giggle: She's got a hellacious purr, for such a lil sprite. I picked her up, to try and start her socialization -- Tuxie has never been socialized properly, due to her first few months as a feral stray, but Annabel seems to be taking right to it -- I picked her up and held her close to me, and she was just purring up a STORM! Her lil belly seems to be healing very well, and to judge from her activity level, I don't think she has much pain from it.

Then, after making my tea (I finally escaped from kidly's room by putting the kitty on the other side of the bed, where she apparently found something interesting!), I played with my new toy.. er, phone, some more. Awesome speaker! That was the only really bad downside to that $99 ZTE, the speaker was CRAP, you could barely hear it when on full volume. No such problem with this one. :)

Have you allowed Tuxie any interaction with her yet? We allowed my other cats a little interaction with Luna from day 1 with supervison. Now, the other tuxedos take turns grooming and playing with her but Bella and Onyx still, and probably always will, hiss at her. Luna just moves on. We can't allow Luna any interaction with Nala the dog. She's still too small plus Nala looks at her as a chew toy.

Well, they "met" when we first brought the new kitty in, still in the cat carrier; Tuxie shrank away, terrified as per usual (Fraidy cat to the MAX!). Seeing her fear, the new kitty started growling at her! A quarter her size! :giggle:

The spawn just got home, and he's letting her check out the living room while Tuxie is in the garage on her usual perch. Just had to yell NO! at the new baby when she started into my room -- the one room in the house totally off-limits to cats. Not that it does much good; I bring their hairs in, on my clothes. But it's good for cats to know their boundaries. :D Since she IS so new and so young, I just pushed my door to; I don't think she's strong enough yet to push it open.

After I went in and petted and held her this morning, I went out and petted Tuxie, to start getting her used to annabel's scent. We also bought another bottle of the pheromone spray, since there's very little left in the original bottle. It seemed to help Tuxie a lot, accepting our son's presence, so hopefully it will help her chill out about the newest family member.

Well, dammit, the new baby apparently has a post-op infection. She pooped and barfed on kidly's bed, and now is just extremely subdued, just lies in her box. :( Kidly's taking her to a vet this afternoon. Tuxie had the same, but it was because she licked out her stitches; these appear to be super-glued to keep the kitty from doing just that, so I dunno why infection has set in. Poor lil baby. :(

She came out of her box and out of his room a bit earlier, checking out the house a bit; still subdued, but maybe feeling slightly better than earlier. They're gone to the vet now, which gives Tuxie the chance to come in from the garage and grab some crunchy nibbles, water, and use her box. We're keeping her in, mainly because the fucking weather is just psychotic this week, and also so she doesn't just run off. She's a weird cat in every way, so we don't want her getting the idea that just because there's a new kitty in the house, we don't want her -- we love her!

They just got home from the vet, who said that although she does have a slight fever, maybe a mild post-op infection, they think most of her distress is due to post-vaccination syndrome; she's only 3 months old, and on the same day, had the spaying and every freaking vaccine they could think of. So they gave her some shots: benadryl, and a steroid, and a mild antibiotic for us to give her. She's now resting in her towel-padded cardboard box in kidly's room. They said she should be a bit more lively tomorrow, and continue improving over the next week. Right now it's probably the benadryl making her sleepy. She's so little, it wouldn't take much to knock her out completely.

And it only cost $67 for all this, a big relief.

There will be no climbing on ANYTHING in the kitchen, a firm rule along with no access to my room. She'll be bellowed at till she learns the rules, same as Tuxie was. ;)

Tuxie hasn't been a knocker-offer, hopefully Annabel won't be either.

Anyway, I went in to check on her earlier, we all have been, from time to time, and she seems to be feeling a bit better; she came out of her box and gave me a few headbutts, loud purring and meow-squeaking all the while, and she even ate a bit of her crunchy food that the shelter sent home with her, some Science Diet kitten food. The soft food we bought was what seemed to disagree with her, which is weird; it was the 'spensive kind -- "Er mah gerd, furncy furst!" :giggle:

I dont know about cat food but science diet is some of the best dog food on the market. My vet told me to feed that and Rascal been eating it his whole life and is as healthy as can be. He had his check up last week and the lil shit scared the vet lol but vet always says he is in great shape. The cat food might also be that good. Just dont go down the can cat food route. Once you even try that there is no going back.

And as for kitty only will go where allowed.........yeah, I hear ya :giggle:

All of mine love it but with 6 of them there's no way in hell am I going that route. Nope! Mine get the dry stuff and can either eat it or starve. So far, eating it has been the idea since the bowls are empty every morning. The kitten gets kitten food in her room but will nibble at the big cats food.

@AndriaD I'm glad Miss Belle is going to be ok!

Tuxie gets: 1) Friskies dry food in her bowl in my husband's room, for her to nibble at will thru the day; 2) either minced up lunch meat (chicken usually, the good deli kind from kroger, which is actually for my husband's lunches but he's got this enormous soft spot for pleading eyes) or one of those Meow Mix little plastic cups, for dinner; and 3) "breakfast", which is at midnight (my husband got tired of being batted in the face at 2-3am), which is half a can of Friskies canned food, about an even split between the regular and the indoor-cat variety with the green lids -- she really likes some of those, and they seem to help with hairball control, since they have "greens". But she's a full-grown mature cat who gets a fair bit of exercise since she goes outdoors most days during the daylight hours unless it's raining (or really cold, in the winter). I call her my fat cat, but she isn't really, just full-grown and well-fed, with a lot of hair!

We bought a couple cans of Fancy Feast for kittens, and a couple of those metal pouches of something called "Bisques", maybe also Fancy Feast, also for kittens. It was the canned FF for kittens that disagreed with her, but it may not have been the food, but just her general malaise, that caused the gastric distress. We'll wait a few days and try her with it again after she's feeling better.

Tuxie's pretty good about it, though she does occasionally sneak in and take a lap around my room if I'm not careful. :giggle: As far as the kitchen counters or tables, that's totally non-negotiable, and she got knocked off the counter a time or two and screamed at in stereo sufficiently to teach her to NEVER try that again. :D She's a very good girl. The new one... I dunno, she's feisty, but hopefully some stereo screaming will have a similar effect on her. :D

Some cats have owners and they are cool with that. Other cats have slaves. With the look on that little girls face in the pic you shared, I find it hard to believe anyone will own that cat. Give her six months and all yall will be wrapped around her lil clawed finger and as far as she is concerned, her slaves :giggle:

I think that look on her face was because she was still half out of it from her surgery! And maybe in pain, too. She was active, walking around, but she walked like she was drunk! They were giving her an opiate pain med.

She's very subdued today, just lying in her box. I'm still a bit worried about the lil mite.

I'm glad to hear you little kitten is doing better. The weather our way seems to be pretty wacky as well. Ah, but that's how she goes. :)

Had a chuckle last Sunday. We had gone up for supper at her mom and dad's. Her mom told me that "old Man White" was raising Hell to Sam & Rusty, our / their neighbors that let him live in a camper on their land, that the dogs were just too loud for him to sleep at night.

Told her mom, "well tell him he can go on in the pen there and get them to shut up, if he can find 'em." Her mom laughed. Me, wife, her mom all kind of figured he was hearing the coyotes baying around his camper. They're not our concern any more. Her dad just laughed about him 'hearing dogs' too.

He said he could go tell Tim & Julie up the way to keep their sheep dogs quiet. Said Julie would probably run him off the property with a gun, Tim would just chuckle at him. Of course, they're so dag blame to do they need to spend money on new vehicles every year or two so as to get the taxes right, nothing for them to hire a lawyer.

That's life a going on as she does. Got upstairs and down dusted, vacuumed today and dishes done. Yay. Reckon now, I'll figure out something to do even if it is wrong.

Our new baby seems to be making some progress. She got a little more active yesterday, and I'm glad to find that she seems to like me; she comes right to me when I walk into the room, and last night was content to rest on my knees for a while. She's getting better at jumping *up* and has claimed the top of kidly's wicker hamper as her favorite resting spot. So, she seems to be getting over her vaccination-and-surgery trauma, and our desires for a lap-kitty seem to be going along swimmingly. :)

We haven't tried anymore cat-on-cat interactions since Thursday night, when they had a hissing contest and the little one went completely nuts and jumped right out of my arms -- fortunately I was right beside a table, so she didn't have far to go. She seems to be kind of a psycho-kitty, with jumping and flexing right out of your grasp, anytime she gets upset; I noticed it with that last hissing contest, and kidly noticed it when he took her to the vet and she got that shot of steroids -- which do hurt, I know very well. He says she does the same thing when he has to give her the antibiotic, which, mercifully, she gets the last dose of, today. :)

We're thinking that maybe she's so brave, hissing at the much bigger cat, just because someone is holding her, or she was in the carrier, the first time -- next, we'll try just letting them "meet" at the same level, on the floor, neither restrained or confined, and see if she's so brave then. Tuxie seems very complacent and calm about the whole matter, thankfully, but she's nobody's fool; if the little one takes a swipe at her, she'll swipe right back -- hence waiting till the little one is in better health.

Glad to hear the new kitty is progressing well.
    lap kittys are GOOD!

Entered a Phil Busardo contest and here is the response I got. I think he needs to update his auto response...

Thanks for entering and GOOD LUCK!!

Thank you so much for the support through the year and for watching the videos. It means a lot to me.

2017 is going to be a tough year for vaping. I urge you to support vaping in any way that you can. Follow advocacy groups, listen to their calls to action, avoid drama, and do what you can to help get the predicate date changed.

Together we need to convert more smokers and show them the healthier alternative that is vaping.

From my family to yours... we wish you the Happiest Of Holidays, Happy New Year, and, of course... MERRY CHRISTMAS!

    Vape Happy Everyone!

The air purifiers are helping! Have one in my room and one in the living room. I'm also done with the WTA. Feeling better. :stars:
