"According to the suit:

Holdener, who is in his 30s, bought a MXJO battery from the shop in early 2016. It powered e-cigarettes, which are used to inhale nicotine vapor as an alternative to traditional smoking.

He had the battery in his right front pocket July 27, 2016, when he was walking between a work shop on his property and his house.

As he bent over to pick something up, the battery suddenly shot flames and set him ablaze."

Look, another dipshit walking around with a live loose battery in his pocket.

If this guy decided to stick his tongue in an electrical socket would he expect to be able to sue the electric company, the contractor that built the house, the electrician who installed the electrical socket, etc... because there is no warnings on electrical sockets that say "Keep tongue away from socket"?

This would get laughed out of court and so should a guy who sticks a live loose battery in his pocket and walks around with it. - 5150

“When he looked down at his right thigh, he was in disbelief — his right thigh was charred black. Flaps of skin hung down from his upper thigh and calf.”

Local emergency room physicians sent Holdener to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was treated for the second-degree burns and discharged a few days later. He still has scarring.
These descriptions are at odds with each other. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burn#Signs_and_symptoms

Why do I think the hospital knows how to properly classify a burn injury? Assuming they do, the description in the first sentence of the quote is hyperbole.

Wow, the pain.... First, the article says he looks down and his leg is charred black, with flesh hanging from the area.then says he is healing from second degree burns. Most sunburns are second degree, so should we black out the sun because some idoit didnt use sunscreen and burned up? Being safe is a part of everyday life. Maybe the battery manufacturer should sue him for not using a case. Bet $ that he had change in his pocket too. Maybe he forgot about that because it got lost in the folds of flesh. :)
