Dual battery mods

Hi bit of a newbie question here, I'm thinking if buying a dual 18650 box mod from a Modder friend and am wondering what the benefits are over single battery. It's not in series so it's not going to be double voltage and I presume it therefore doesn't double the mah. So what is the point in dual box mods that aren't in series? Also he us putting a MOSFET in there and I know this is to take the heat off the switch, I'm just wondering why the dual batteries are so popular? Please help lol

Dual parallel is double mAh, ~40% Amp increase. Dual series is double voltage, same mAh and Amp as single cell.

Check your math. 2 cells rated 30 amps will do 60 amps.
The benfit to this, is that there will be less voltage sag under load with low ohm coils.
