That was pretty good, BC. But, as a country girl by heart, I go to the originals.
Here is the movie version for those that haven't seen it...starring George Cloony and a man's voice that was in the movie.

Here is Alison Krauss and Union Station who actually recorded the song.
Alison and 2 other women sang a brief song in the movie while the guys were having their sins washed away:

Okay. I have a thing for Janet Jackson's singing and choreography. This was MJ's favorite song of his sister.
This is a very powerful song. Especially in today's political climate more than ever. Listen to the words - or find the lyrics. SO worth it.
(I just found my intro for my YT channel. If anyone claims it, I'll hunt you down, have you strip your clothes and push you into the 'gator pond.)

Not country just by heart here and am well aware of who recorded what in the movie. This one by the Stanleys would come closer to being the original. Man of Constant Sorrow is an old bluegrass song that has been around forever. All the music in O Brother was new versions of old songs.

I was in the mood for some southern rock and Blackberry Smoke fit the bill.

Wow. Wow that you know your stuff, Buch.
I love Bluegrass as well. Thank you. That was amazing.

@Countrypami I had no clue bluegrass went back that far. I loved it. I wish I knew of a way to research. But I will. It was a pure pleasure.

I live 55 miles from Mountain View, Arkansas the Folk Music Capital of the World. My in laws live there and it is where my wife was living when we met. Bluegrass is a very big deal there. They have several festivals a year, as well as groups that get together daily and nightly and play on the town square. Below is a video of my father in law and some local boys playing Uncle Pen a few year back. This video is actually taken in my in laws store and the music was being played below our livingroom at the time. The music doesn't start until about halfway through but worth waiting for.

That was amazing, Buch. Gave me chills. I've been a singer since the early 90's and have some Bluegrass CDs that I play often and sing to.
Your FIL looks great for his age - very much in shape. Are those your nephews? And they were playing right beneath your living room?
What a story. Yep. Music's in your blood. That's for sure. I couldn't help it. I watched the Cobb Brothers next video.
If I could, I would live out in the sticks surrounded by Bluegrass as you are. Thank you, Buch. For brightening my day. :blowkiss:

Voted the best song ever. Give it 3 minuteseses before it kicks in.
Trust me. You'll groove to it, or triple your money back.

White bird
In a golden cage
On a winter's day
In the rain

White bird
In a golden cage
Alone

The leaves blow
Across the long, black road
To the darkened skies
In it's rage

But the white bird
Just sits in her cage
Unknown

White bird must fly
Or she will die

White bird
Dreams of the aspen trees
With their dying leaves
Turning gold

But the white bird
Just sits in her cage
Growing old

White bird must fly
Or she will die
White bird must fly
Or she will die

The sunsets come
The sunsets go
The clouds roll by
And the earth turns old
And the young bird's eyes
Do always glow

She must fly
She must fly
She must fly

White bird
In a golden cage
On a winter's day
In the rain

White bird
In a golden cage
Alone

White bird must fly
Or she will die
White bird must fly
Or she will die
White bird must fly
Or she will die

Drop your musique.

Hot summer day (Hot summer day)
Carry me along
Oh, hot summer day (Hot summer day)
Please carry me along
Hot summer day
Carry me along
To its end
Where I begin

Long summer dream (Long summer dream)
Sliding round my mind
Those long summer dreams (Long summer dream)
Are leaving me behind
Hot summer day
Carry me along
To its end
Where I begin

Circling like a river
Over brightly colored stones
Breaking up my soul
And taking part of me home
Leaving the other half
To tumble all alone
Love, love, where did you go?

Hot summer day (Hot summer day)
Carry me along
To its end where I begin
Those long summer dreams (Long summer dream)
Still spinning round my mind
And they end where they begin

And I want to grab that river
And stop the love that's dying
Because I know that somewhere
Deep inside my soul you're still lying
Waiting to awaken
And shake that river's flow
Love, love, where did you go?

They told me that the sun turned green
I said I didn't know
And they told me that the moon turned blue
I said it didn't show
And they told me that I looked a fool
And I said I'd let that go
But when they told me that our love was dead
I had to turn and go

Oh love
Love
Love
Love
Love
Where did you go?

Hot summer day (Hot summer day)
Carry me along
To its end
Where I begin
Long summer dreams (Long summer dream)
Sliding round my mind
And they end
Where they begin

Circling like a river
Over brightly colored stones
Breaking up my soul
And taking part of me home
Leaving the other half
To tumble all alone
Love, love, where did you go?

I am gross and perverted
Im obsessed n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little had changed
I am the tool of the government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you

I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think Im delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin out
From your tv set

You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't got for help...no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

That's right, folks..
Don't touch that dial

Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin along on your livinroom floor

I am the slime from your video
Cant stop the slime, people, lookit me go

Uh-Oh. It's a drummer, a bass player, and a Hammond/Piano/Moog player.
Huh?

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man
You win some, lose some, all the same to me

The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is the Ace of Spades
The Ace of Spades

Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil
Going with the flow, it's all a game to me

Seven or eleven, snake eyes watching you
Double up or quit, double stake or split, the Ace of Spades
The Ace of Spades

You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools
But that's the way I like it baby
I don't wanna live for ever
And don't forget the joker!

Pushing up the ante, I know you gotta see me
Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again

I see it in your eyes, take one look and die
The only thing you see, you know it's gonna be the Ace of Spades
The Ace of Spades
