Do you get a pepper taste from vanilla?

Vanilla custard (tfa) for sure, tastes, and even smells like pepper to me, so I am wondering if others with like taste receptors have suggestions on vanilla custards that dont affect them in this way?

Vanilla bean, vanilla swirl and VBIC, Do not have this affect on me, but I have seen it attributed to vanilla, and not custard online.

TIA

I know a lot of people get pepper from TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

My VBIC is FW, no pepper from that, or TFA vanilla swirl, but everything i mix with tfa vanilla custard is awful.

I don't like custard at all, but it is my understanding that Capella is the preferred brand for DIY custards

I use TFA vanilla custard all the time and I do not taste or smell pepper in it...Mr. Meringue tastes like pepper to me.

It's an ingredient TFA uses in some (or all?) of their vanilla flavorings. I am not a pepper taster though. Some people taste it some people don't. It's a shame too because TFA Vanilla Custard tastes better for me than Capellas V1. Avoid FW it tases like nelutmeg. But Capellas is very rich, overly rich for my tastes.

The pepper TFA situation reminds me of strawberry blindness. There's a whole bunch of people who can't taste strawberry flavors by certain brands. I've run into flavprs that taste like nothing so it's not limited to strawberry.

I would much rather work around this issue, than be blind to strawberry for sure

I've been slowly building a collection of FA flavors, haven't tried that one yet though.
Everyone swears by Liquid Barn Vanilla Ice Cream. Personally, I don't find it better than TFA's version, I really love the buttery deliciousness I get from TFA VBIC. For custard, my go to custard is CAP VCV1 and I actually like OOO Vanilla Custard Cheesecake as well.
