Can vapes save the world from smoking?

Let's be realistic: No method of quitting, and no substitute works for everyone. There are still smokers in Sweden, where snus has been prevalent for decades, and there are still smokers in the UK, where vaping is encouraged rather than fought against. Vaping has a higher success rate than most other methods, but it's nowhere near 100%. The "95% more successful than method X is terribly misleading, because the success rate of X is very low, and ouble a small percentage is still a relatively small percentage.

What's strikes me a promising in the long term is the fact that many young people are choosing vaping over smoking from the get-go. My daughter is about to start her senior year at PSU. She tells me that essentially nobody in her age cohort smokes, but plenty of them vape (she does neither herself).
