Caffeine in E-Juice: Is it safe?

I stumbled upon another vendor this afternoon that offers a caffeine shot in your juice for an additional fee. This is the third time in one week that I've seen a vendor offering caffeine spiked e-juice. This seems to be a new thing and is slightly concerning to me. Although we've had centuries of experience absorbing nicotine through our lungs, inhaling caffeine seems like it is something completely new. I wonder, if any, what the ill health affects of it could be. I also wonder if this is something that is going to be readily accepted by the vaping community or something on the fringes like certain juices that claim to have medicinal properties are. Also, since there aren't any clear regulations yet, what's to stop vendors from spiking their juice with a little caffeine just to get you more addicted to it so that you buy your juice from them? And what's next? Adding aspirin? Seems to me if we start adding all sorts of other stuff other than nicotine, then e-cigs start looking less and less like cigarette cessation devices and more and more dubious, especially to those who would want to legislate to over regulate it or even ban its manufacturing by mom and pop operations.

Any thoughts?

I really don't know how safe it would be or not be,,,i don't understand why anyone would want caffeine in their juice because nicotine is a stimulant already if im not mistaken.

You bring up a bunch of good points and things to think on, @vaperature

some are sensitive to caffeine, and can tell.. my neighbor is a good example. he doesn't drink coffee, but managed to get ahold of a caffeinated juice. he lived to tell about it, and asked if i could make some like it. well.. i have to admit, it makes me leary.. in some ways, it shouldnt be noticable.. in others, how do you know if the amounts are safe? i know a caffeinated vape probably wouldn't do me any good at all, since i love coffee & tea so much.. but for those that dont.. too much can make you sit and nod like you are sleeping, and yet your brain flies around at mock speed.. i dont know why people want to mimic signs of adhd.. it's a terrible thing to have.. on the other hand, caffeine has helped to slow down too.. just depends on the person.

i can see, maybe later down the road, if the medical community could really use these as a safe way to dispense drugs.. but i haven't really searched for that info.. or nothing has stood out.

I have heard the caffeine in juice is a farce. That it burns up (hence not absorbable) in the coils.

I haven't done any research on it.
But I tend to think it may be more of a marketing ploy than anything else.
imo

the descriptions my neighbor gave me convinced me it isn't a farce..
i don't think it was anything other than caffeine..

i haven't played with it.. but i do have the powdered form..
thing is.. i drink caffeinated drinks.. how in the heck will i be able to mix something like this and know when enough is?
or if it's too little amount??

this is why i haven't played with it yet..

Awhile ago, I received a bottle of White Tea E-Liquid.

I decided to try some right as I was getting ready for bed and within about 15 minutes I felt myself starting to wake up.

The next day I contacted the manufacturer and I was told that it was a NET E-Liquid that was made from actual tea leaves and did have caffeine in it.

I saw that yesterday. Octopus ejuice or some shit like that. They had "extra kick" and you could add caffeine for extra money.
If you can't get wired on the nic you might as well hang your vape gear up and start doing the hard shit.

I really would like to see some definite answers one way or the other. I hear yes and no that caffeine works in ejuice. I have no desire to use that type of juice as I would rather drink coffee.
But I like knowing what's true and what is bunk.

This is one of the things about e-juice being unregulated that concerns me. Juice makers are playing with fire in order to come up with some new marketing gimmick. I'd like to think that behind the scenes there is some real R&D going on. That there may even be a chemist or dietitian on staff. But reality leads me to believe that it's more along the lines of, "Hey Bubba Ray, I gots me an ideer. Let's put caffeine in our juice!"

I'm not a chemist or a dietitian, but I would assume that caffeine...like nicotine...is far more potent when vaporized, and would hit the blood stream faster than if ingested via normal means, like in a drink.

the market will work it out, we dont need regulations to tell us when we are doing something stupid.. just science and common sense

ive also heard that the caffeine dies at the coil but i dont know, would rather see some studies on supplementing ejuice with things like caffeine, melatonin, vitamins etc. i think adding essential vitamins to eliquid would be awesome so long as we can get some basic studies on it, that would be a big kick in the balls to big tobacco

I *think* the caffeinated juice is really gear more toward the younger crowd. The same type that guzzle Monster and Red Bull all day.

I am not one of them. I don't think most people really want it. Not that there isn't a niche......

There is a bar in my area that vaporizes alcohol. I don't know why you would or why they do. It doesn't sound the best to me. Drinking already kills my brain cells. No need to French inhale straight to the target. As for the caffeine, don't know about safe or not, but if it gave a real pep, I may keep some around for the days my monster or cup of coffee will not work. Inhaling it has to be stronger than digesting it.

If a dietitian told me medical shit outside of food and how it effects health they would get a hearty "shut the fuck up".
Other than a chemist telling me how caffeine breaks down.. it leaves it there.
A biochemist explaining how the body breaks it down from those chemicals is another story and even that without further testing form multiple sources is getting disregarded if told it is safe.

All it will take is a mislabel and someone on a drug like Zyban or another drug where caffeine is a contraindication causing a massive heart stroke or death and that company is going to get it's business anus gaped like in bad porn.

@Iamme That is done with ultrasonic it is more of an aerosol not actual vapor.

Let me preface this post with the following disclaimer...............

I just finished a big Christmas Dinner which included much wine.

During the exchange of gifts and while I was cooking the feast, I was drinking hard cider.

Like I have said in an earlier post, I have noticed that whatever caffeine was present in a NET tea E-Liquid did indeed wake my sorry ass up when I had no idea that any caffeine was present. I only found that out the next day when I asked the vendor about it.

If we are going to add stuff to our E-Liquid, screw the caffeine, vitamins and the like and really get down to business.

Let's add this stuff to our daily vape........

Viagra, Cialis, Levitra.

I say it't time for all of us male vapers everywhere to stand up and show the public at large we are serious about our commitment to vaping!

Did I remember to tell you that I have been drinking?

Viagra Vape lol. I've heard of people making coffee flavor for diy out of actual coffee. For sure that would have caffeine in it.

I have two favorite premium juice-makers, Cotto's Revenge and High Voltage Vaporz. High Voltage Vaporz offers both caffeine or melatonin in their juices. I have tried both, and don't really notice any kick or subsequent "drowsy" effect from the caffeine or the melatonin. Then again, I am a huge consumer of caffeinated products (mostly energy drinks) and also take medicine at night to help me sleep, so I am probably not the best judge of the effects of either of these added ingredients. What I do know, is that High Voltage Vaporz makes the most delicious flavored juices on the planet. My absolute favorite is their Short Circuit: Melon Cream with Berries (Energy Infused). It is offered with caffeine however you can choose to have either the caffeine or melatonin added (or omitted) to any of their flavors. I am in love with this juice, however, the caffeine option is just not that attractive to me; it's the flavor baby. I do keep a Nautilus mini filled with their Lights Out (Melatonin infused) Raspberry Chai flavor for when it gets close to bedtime. Again, I don't know if the added melatonin works or not. (nicotine is offered in the standard levels of 0 3 6 12 18mg)

thing is, i drink a ton of coffee and tea thru out my day..
not sure if i even could tell a difference if i had caffine in my vape..

i kinda lean to why put it in when a nice cuppa will do??

as far as melatonin, gee that word got picked up in red.. I cant spell.. :p
viagra or anything else.. naw..

then i think, well if it works for some that like that stuff in theirs..

then i bounce again.. why do it??

just wondering.. too early in the morning for serious thoughts.. :)

Hey Smoky, how about adding something intelligent to the conversation, instead of wise-ass comments that nobody cares about. Thanks.
I started this thread actually and I care about what Smoky has to say, so why don't you speak for yourself.

i have been playing with it, with a few different approaches..

one with my irish coffee..

one with a fruit mix..

i can taste it if used heavier than 2%

at 2% i do get a tingle on my tongue.. but not much else..

i am a regular coffee drinker..

caffeine and nicotine are totally different ;)

forgot one bit..

mixed the powdered for with all vg, then a different one with half vg half everclear..
used 1/4tsp..

both are about the same, one has a "kick" to it that causes the tongue tingles..

and yes, I am back ;)

So after using it, can you surmise that caffeine is actually giving the kick? Or is it just a "taste" but nothing else?

mixing with and without, it is the caffeine..
and its more noticeable to me using the everclear.. without, i get nothing more than a fuzzy taste..

did one without nic and one with, i got the same results still..

its interesting.. I did pass it out at a few b&m's but a few, most liked it..

So it would be safe to say that it would be safe to say caffeine would have zero effect in juice.
