Hi All, Anthony Vapes back here with my review of Vapefly Core RTA. Please see bottom for disclaimers and links. Note this is marked as a sample version.

Introduction:
The Vapefly Core RTA is the latest RTA from in my opinion very underrated vape manufacturer vapefly. I’ve reviewed a lot of their stuff over the past year or so and for the most part they have been pretty impressive. Products like the fantasy, fantasy mini, nicolas, horus, galaxies MTL RTA and RDA were all really good. The only product they made that i wasn't happy with that i can think of is the wormhole RDA. So overall good track record. It’s designed in collaboration with the german 103 team which apparently is a group of popular reviewers in germany. The Vapefly Core RTA is a 25mm base (listed at 25.2mm to be exact) dual coil DTL RTA with a 2 post deck and 4ml max capacity with the bubble tank. It’s available in 4 colors Black, SS, Rainbow and Gold. Looking around online i see it in the 30-40 USD Price range mostly off china sites however myvpro has them for 29 USD in the USA so good price point.

Initial Impressions
When I first got this RTA it seemed right up my alley. A dual coil DTL RTA from a company with a stellar track record so i was pretty excited to try it out. I like that it comes with a bubble glass but was a little disappointed that it was only 4ml and the standard glass is 2ml but being it’s designed from a place that has TPD laws in effect i understand.

Build Deck and Wicking (pics above)
Let’s talk about the build deck now. It’s a basic 2 post deck so nothing fancy or different but it uses a dual clamp system with 1 screw per clamp and plenty of room to fit large coil leads in. Still a deck where you have to install both coils at the same time and it isn’t staggered in 2018 sems way behind the curve in my opinion. I’m not a fan of decks like that as better ones already exist. What i did like about it however and what sets it apart from decks like this like the warrior RDA and creed RTA is that the clamps will rise when you unscrew the screws so they naturally lift up and you don’t have to deal with clamps that move or fall out of place or drop down due to gravity and all so they get some extra points there from other similar decks. Still that was a bit disappointing since your coil leads have to share post holes and be installed at the same time. Not the easiest deck to build on out there and feels a bit outdated. The clamps come from the top the down so flat wire leads won’t be bent which is nice and they use good quality flat head grub screws. I prefer hex but flathead is ok too so no complaints there. Overall not a fan of the deck personally and not the easiest to build on but still a little better than some similar ones.

Wicking on this one is super easy. It wicks pretty well so you don’t need to go super thin on your wicks. Just make sure not to overstuff them and drop them right in the cutouts made for them and leave a little bit of room. Really simple and easy to wick. Just don’t overstuff it or you’ll get vapor lock.

Performance
Performance wise, I used it as a dual coil RTA only it does have a blocker in the pics and specs to do single coil but my sample didn’t come with one and i’m not a fan of doing that anyway so nothing lost there. I ran 4 builds in it. 3 fancy builds 2 at 3mm ID and 1 at 3.5mm ID and one simple round build at 3mm ID. It’s DTL for sure and pretty airy. Performance was pretty good but not excellent from this RTA. It was just ok with the round build, really best with fancy builds but that rings true of most DTL atomizers. It’s best with 3-3.5mm ID fancy builds for sure and with those builds it’s above average for a dual coiler. Not the best I’ve had. But should crack my top 5 in a year of limited good options. It does beat out the creed I reviewed about a week ago and pretty similar to the crius dual but below the lotus and mage v2 for sure. Overall with a large fancy build it’s a good RTA but not an excellent one performance wise.

Overall Impressions, Details, and Extras
It’s a bottom airflow RTA with 2 large air holes equally spaced apart that you can adjust from the outside. The AFC is nice and smooth and on a stopper. It’s easily adjustable on or off mod and has come design for grip. Very well done. The air is nice and smooth, no whistle on any setting and pretty quiet but not as quiet as some others i’ve had.

The top fill is your standard screw off top cap.It works great as there is lots of metal with some cutouts for grip to spin it off easily and the threading is excellent. The fill holes are large and can be filled with any type of bottle and you can just pour it in from a glass bottle. There is a good amount of accessories that come with it, It comes with a standard 810 clear PMMA drip tip and a metal 510 tip adapter. Would have been nice to have a 2nd 810 or a 510 tip included as well though. The drip tip fits nice. Not too snug but not too loose and you can use any of your own tips 810 and 510. It comes with 2 tanks as well, a standard 2ml tank and a bubble 4ml tank. The Core RTA also includes plenty of extra o-rings, 3 spare post screws, 2 spare clamps, and a screwdriver tool. No coils or cotton came in mine but not a big deal but would have been nice not that i personally use them anyway.

The quality on the Vapefly Core RTA is excellent. As usual their products are great quality especially at the price point. All the threading is really nice and smooth, there is texture everywhere it should be. Easy to take apart and you can remove the deck with an almost full tank which is nice, I’d say about 80% full or less and you can rebuild without dumping the tank. The coloring is hard to judge since i just have the plain Silver one but it’s a nice shiny silver. It’s a 25mm diameter RTA with nothing that bulges unless you use the bubble glass and even then it’s pretty slight, so it shouldn’t overhang most mods. The 2 ml capacity is very small for a dual coil RTA but the 4ml included bubble glass makes it an average capacity capacity. There is no JFC and it doesn't need one. I had no leaking or flooding issues and it handled chain vaping really good as well. Branding is nice and simple. Just a circuit like design on the chamber visible through the glass and the word “core” engraved into the AFC on each side.

Pros:
  • Excellent Build Quality
  • Standard 810 Drip Tip and a 510 adapter included
  • good quality flat head grub post screws
  • large fill holes
  • Excellent threading
  • Bubble glass included
  • plenty of spare o-rings and 3 spare post screws and 2 spare clamps
  • nice smooth AFC
  • no whistle on any setting
  • Simple screw off top fill design
  • great texture everywhere it’s needed
  • easy to wick
  • Flavor is above average
  • 4 color options
Cons:
  • The build deck is outdated and not builder friendly
  • including a set of coils and some cotton would have been nice
  • capacity is a bit on the small side even with the bubble glass for a dual coil RTA
  • a second drip tip would have been nice
Conclusion
So with all that said, do I recommend this RTA?I don’t like to do a hard yes or no, this one i’m going to lean a little towards the yes. It’s fitting i was working on this one and the creed RTA at the same time since they are similar and for me the core edges out the creed with slightly better flavor and a slightly better build deck but still suffers from most of the drawbacks that the creed had minus the air insert gimmick. So a little lean towards the yes seems fitting to me. I added this to my sheet of recs linked down below.

This is Anthony Vapes just keeping it honest, hopefully you all can say the same and i’ll catch you on my next review.
