The boy told police that he approached a woman and offered to give her about $40 to buy him e-cigarettes, with the understanding she could keep the change, said San Rafael police Cpl. Ronda Reese.
The woman agreed to the deal, but when she emerged from the gas station market, she did not have the nicotine vaporizing product, the boy reported. When he asked for his money back, the woman allegedly lifted her shirt slightly to reveal a handgun in her waistband.
The woman left and the boy called police, identifying the gun as a Colt 1911 pistol.
