Ive built my first unregulated 14500 powered box mod and want to move up another step and build one with a simple ego style chip and button..Just seems like it would be a fun thing to do for someone new to box building.
I'll be using a simple double AA battery box as i did my first one as well as some gold plated sealed 510 connectors..Heres a pic of my first ever attempt at building a box mod.
This vv board i will be using come from a Fasttech X10 device which housed an 18650 battery but uses the standard ego vv feature of different voltage based on the color of the led from how many times you pressed the button, to reach your desired voltage setting..So heres a look at the device ill be using the chip from.. I paid 10 dollars from fasttech, however i dont see them being offered anymore but i will assume most any vv ego chip and button can be used if you can get it out without destroying it..Much to my surprise the 510 on this device simply unscrewed...The VV output options if im not mistaken are 3.4v 3.8v and 4.2v
Here it is taken apart to get at the chip...I guess no surprise the wiring was color coded opposite of what we know in the U.S as standard...the hot wire from the battery is black on this device and the red is negative to the 510 connector...the green is the positive output into the 510 connector.
Here is the chip removed with the black wire just set in place to where it would go...although i will be changing this to opposite how it is now with color coding.
Backside of VV chip
Im going to try and use a thicker wire for the connections in say the size wire you might find on my first box mod which are the standard wires that come with your average AA box.
So thats it for now and ill add more as my time allows with the simple ego VV chip 14500 mini box build.
