NICE JOB!

Not much room for a bottle in that box for a BF is there?
No, there is not in this design.
but....... I am thinking if it was wide enough for a 26650 battery then the electronics bay might just be wide enough for the chip, and a bottle ;)

+1 for BF!
Just curious, do you plan on making any minis?
Small hands and all, I like my boxes smaller. ;)

Next on the design board is a 26650 BF. Difficult to keep that in a mini profile although I will try to keep it as small as possible. After that I am always open to suggestions.

Maybe put some finished products on the website and and a price range so preorders can be made.

I would love to put finished product up but still building them currently.
I will not do pre-orders.
I will only sell products that are available for immediate shipment.
Just the way I roll.
The main reason for this is the great variation in grain pattern.
Every one will be unique and I want people to be able to see and choose which one fits their own style.

Examples of variation within one wood type (quilted)

First 30 hand fit and finish sanded.
Cleaned with mineral spirits before applying the first of a four coat finish.

FYI: new website under construction.
I had an issue with default merchant account not being 'vape friendly'
So found a new merchant account that was and now have to rebuild new site
Expected release is still end of Sept.

Yes.
$325 each.
They are truly handcrafted. Every one will not only be unique in appearance but also dimensionally.
Every sliding door is hand fit to a specific box. Every one was hand finish sanded and will be hand finished, and assembled.
Every one was soldered by yours truly, and upgraded to 16 gauge wiring.
Every one of the chips was tested after soldering was complete and will be tested twice more after installation.
I am ensuring that I turn out a product that lives up to the standards that I expect in one I would use myself.
I have scrapped at least 15 boxes already in this first batch that didn't meet my standards, and I will continue to do so.

Someone asked me how the brand would look.......
Will be branded and serialed on the interior only.
I decided the wood is too pretty to cover with a logo on the exterior.

$325 is bloody reasonable for this level of workmanship and the quality of the controller. I would also like to apply for the shop dog job.

Looking very nice. Couple questions. Are you going to be selling these as complete packages only or are you selling the enclosure kits as well? Also any options for a lower profile fire switch?

Complete mods only at this time with retractable charging cable, users guide, care instructions, and wax for finish within a foam lined box.
Options for different fire switches will not be available due mainly to the fact that I would need to purchase, and stock them as well as change the cnc code to create the correct size cut out, and countersink for a different fire switch.
The current fire switch is countersunk into the wood and only protrudes 5mm at rest, and 3mm depressed on this design.
perhaps it looks like more in the pictures due to the size of the box. The box dimensions are 1.125" deep X 2.25" wide X 3.5" tall before finish sanding.

You should be proud as a new baby's daddy :) they are smashing. Only wish I had the ability and tools to make one as nice as you have. I am curious why you didn't invert the battery sled to minimize the wire length and space used in the electronics area?

There is actually 2 black (-) leads. One comes from the bottom left side of the board and the other from the 510 connection. There would be at least one long wire regardless of which way the battery case was placed.
Although I rewired every chip for reverse battery protection I felt most people are used to the + on the top so decided that would be best in my design.
The new software for the sx350 includes the ability to flip the screen (even an auto mode that uses the gravity sensor to automatically flip depending on how it's held) but turning the whole chip over puts the negitive lead coming from the board in the way of the up/down buttons as well as the screen much lower on the side so decided against that as well.
I put a lot of thought into this design and it is currently in its 14th revision which is the one I am finally satisfied with :)
Sometimes it's tough being OCD :p

Yea I'm familiar with the board layout, that's why I was curious on the tray orientation. It will work either way I just did mine with negative on top and have a central lug on the 510 to connect the pcb negative and then about a 1" negative from the sled and a 1" positive to the pcb on the bottom from the sled. Only have one 3" negative from the pcb to the 510 lug running up inside the electronic area which in my case is almost a necessity running dual 18650 in a enclosure 3.5 x 2.3 x .88. And I'm not selling them but I know which way they go in my device so I'm not wasting time putting them in backwards :) But in your case your probably right with most people wanting to put the + up top and wondering why it didn't work if you had inverted it.

Would you rather see a logo, and serial number on the outside or the inside of the box?
Been debating this one.
The wood is so beautiful that some may feel that a cnc cut relief logo and serial on the outside detracts from the beauty of the mod
. Others may like to have the serial, and logo on the outside and feel that it looks pretty cool.
I would like to hear what you think.

If this thread needs to be moved or I am doing anything 'taboo' by seeking input from the community please let me know, and I will correct anything that needs to be done a different way. Thank you.

I'm still @ the beginning of the thread, so this may have been covered. You could put the serial number on a small metal plate & inset it into the wood of the Box. Like what Glock does with their Pistols, inset the serial number into the Plastic Frame.

Good idea actually except for ideas on retention (metal to wood is difficult without a mechanical connection).
The final decision was branded logo and punched serials on the interior electronics bay cover.
Glocks actually use bent tabs to hold the metal serial number plate into the frame (don't ask how I know but I can tell you that I am the only 'nicoroshi' I know of on the web, and I have a lot of hobbies).
