So quick question I have enough cash to order maybe five flavors. I already have vanilla classic, fresh cream, caramel, strawberry, bilberry, Vienna cream, tiramisu, cookie, mandarin, marshmallow, vanilla bourbon, and joy (didn't enJOY mixed with strawberry as per recipes, how the hell to use it idk). What 5 flavours should I order and perhaps how to use them?
Try out joy 2% and billberry 2-3%. I couldn't get the strawberry to work for me but with billberry instead I liked it. Works as a shake and vape pretty well.

Monsoon is making me crazy. I know I've tasted this flavor before, but can't think where. My sense memory is a candy, maybe one of the Pez flavors, maybe Choward's Violet, but I have neither to test against. Sweet, fruity, up-your-nose aromatic, alien floral and spice. I used 3% and the vanilla cake hasn't come through yet. Looking forward to when it does.

Something flavored with fiora di Sicilia, maybe?

Hmmm, possibly. I've had Italian pastries and some candy but I'm not sure. Have you ever had that flavor in something you remember specifically?

I've read several descriptions of Monsoon, including yours, and it's not that they seem wrong to me--except tobacco mentioned in a few, which I don't get at all. It's just that the flavor is so specific and familiar, but a very old one, like I could have tasted it when I was a little kid.

I just took another couple hits and holiday fruitcake came to mind. Now that's a flavor I would have tasted too young and never tried again, which could account for why its hard to name. That certainly gets close your candied cake description.

OMG, is Monsoon taking me back to the S.S. Pierce gift boxes my grandfather used to send every Christmas? That fruitcake in the fancy tin which would get sampled last and always end up in the trash sometime mid-January?

I'm still not sure. But if they were in fact aiming for fruitcake, it's no wonder they decided to call it something else. :D

I just updated my "HIC's Notes on FlavourArt Flavorings" file. Since the previous (October 2015) revision I've added all the "e-motions" flavors, SOHO, a minor one or two, and updated about a dozen others. If you have an even older revision, you're missing a LOT of notes!

The current version is always available free here: http://www.hicsmixes.com/notes-etc.html

Thanks a billion. My hic's flavor notebook is the only cook book displayed on my counter and used all the time.

I'm still picking fights with zen garden and a few others but without the book I don't know where I would be.

On a side note, those mixes are in timeout just steeping in the back corner of the drawer.

Hello everyone!

I have yet to order any FA flavouring, but they'll be on my next order!

I've been doing a lot of research over the last few months, and FA seems the way to go; at least for most flavourings. So I'll be making an order with a majority of FA, some CAP, and some TFA; as well as a couple other brands as well.

I just wanted to thank @HeadInClouds @wllmc for a lot of great information, that I have been doing some HEAVY creepin' on!

PS-I have some FW/TFA flavours coming in this week, just to give em a go. I hope to make some great mixes, but that's for another thread!

I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY FA ORDER! :D

I received an email from Flavourart UK that gives a basic overview of the emotions flavours:

e-Motions is the new range of flavourings created by Massimiliano Mancini and his dedicated team at FlavourArt Italy. There are currently six flavours, two tobacco influenced, two sweet flavours, and two fabulously fruity flavours. These are the latest additions to the 184 flavourings now on offer. We recommend making up a 2ml sample using 5% flavouring (1.9ml eliquid and 0.1ml flavouring) in order to set a benchmark for your flavour strength preference, then when you have tested that for half an hour or more, you can fine tune the percentage to suit your taste.

Aurora
Aurora… a complex Lime interpretation with a subtle background, very refreshing.

Eclipse
Like a rich, deep, chocolate mint with feint floral notes along with spice and cocoa.

Glory
A clever variation on the Nutty Tobacco theme with a musky Turkish note.

Joy
A biscuit flavour fresh from the baker's oven with Meringue and Caramel to tease your taste buds.

Monsoon
Fresh Raspberry with a finely blended selection of red fruits.

Storm
A gentle tobacco with sweetness and fruit undertones.

I have the moonson in. Havnt tried it yet. Still thinking of what to pair it with for a recipie. I'm not big on single flavor recipes (never have done one since I need a mouthful of fun).

Try it, be interested to see what you think. As Huckleberried commented above, I too found it flavoursome on its own like most reviews. This is one of the few flavours I could vape standalone quite happily. As for recipes, the few I have seen seem to be adding forest fruit or other berries to it. Ive been mixing it as a twist to previous bakery or cake recipes I have made instead of using raspberry or cherry. Still steeping, Im excited to try them but at the same time, so much going on in monsoon on its own I wonder if it will over power other stuff or a lot of its complexities will be lost in recipes....soon find out

Looks like a challenge and challenge accepted. I will officially make my first single flavor this weekend to take on my trip to Seattle WA. Fingers crossed. Thinking 4% since I'm not a super taster. I can distinguish between flavors but need a little more than 2-3% normally.

I did it @ 4% myself and it was bang on for me (I like strong flavour though). Monsoon and Inawera AM4A are the only flavours I have tested standalone that were complex or tasty enough by themself for me to be happy to vape standalone, even though I dont as manic creative mind always wants to make something out of them :) Hope you enjoy it, I think its a love or hate flavour, but its certainly not a dull or "its ok" type vape which is what I foudn with Aurora though I quite liked it....Oh i forgot Soho, that is another standalone

I haven't tried strawberry aroma cap. I like strawberry FA...it not a ripe strawberry...it just strawberry. That's why I like mixing strawberry FA and ripe strawberry tpa. Give a complete strawberry

It seems to be good to me. I'm not a big fan of sugar.
It will be my first stawberry flavor and I'll take a look on the TPA version if I'm not completly convince.
Thanks

So I mixed moonson FA 4%. I sorta get a juicy fruit gum flavor. I can see where people say vanilla with tidbits of fruit. It was ok, but always lacks the depth of complexity. I also get a bit of sweet tart flavor, kinda like swetang tfa, but much more reduced.

Vaped 3mls of the 15. Then added 4 drops from the bottle of forest fruit FA, just to add a bit of additional fruit. It didn't change it too much just added alittle fruit.

I am randomly thinking my next try with this will be 3% monsoon, lemon FA 1.5% 1.5 strawberry FA, 2% ripe strawberry tfa, 0.4 rassberry FA...to get a strawberry lemonaid that is light Maybe a touch of some type of cream to smooth it out.

I found Monsoon will happily blot out most other flavors if you don't either load them on or use much less Monsoon. It's pushy.

Hmmm. Good advice. Sounds like I'll drop it down a bit. I think it could be a good starting point for taking a twist on fruit flavors. But that's my guess. Still hoping some other people have had some great successes mixing with it.

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to say thank you to you all, for helping me it to my 2 years of no cigarettes. If not for all the help with DIY, and the recipes, I don't think I would have made it. From the original crew of the PureVapes thread to all of you here, it has been so much fun! All the sharing and caring, the friendships. 1ad8f9696f8bd5d1d9d7377824c7660c.jpg

Omg. Is there a seperate set of a 150 pages to read through? Seriously.

LOL - yep - but it's a great one to skim through. When that thread started, FA had a reputation of being difficult to use, expensive, hard to find, and not very good except for tobacco flavors (!) By the end of that thread, FA flavors were way more popular with the DIY crowd. Now they're easy to find in the U.S., cheaper, and recipes with 20%+ flavoring are much less common. ;)

Omg. I havnt even gotten through this thread. Maybe if I read everything backwards it will be ok...or I'll come up with redrum af...ooohhhh the next name for the FA flavor line.

Lol. Initiation. I thought that was mixing up and trying whipped cream FA and cherry FA at 10%. Worst vape experience ever.

Suit yourself, @Chrispdx, but you'll miss HIC and wllmc as they develop the first FA recipes. Hoosier's casual knowledge and contributions borne of meticulous testing from the delightful we2rcool. You won't see how the mixologists we know and trust became the characters we interact with here. As if that's not tempting enough, if you don't read it, you'll never know how ECF became so intolerably restrictive for these creative minds, it led to the great VU exodus.

Oh, there's more, much more/ laughter, tears, pathos, rage and why mixing FA flavorings at 10% is not a great idea.

Perhaps initiation was the wrong term. Right of passage. If you weren't there as it happened, you can watch it unfold; experience it all over again. It's a trip.

Or not. Your choice.

And, hey, I'm not singling you out. I think every DIYer should read it. :)

No worries. I'll get there on the reading part. I think I've been doing pretty good so far. I know a few weird odd ball posts from me here and there. I checked my stats (on another forum) and I have like some 500+ threads reviewed (but no worries this is my home). That's not including threads here.

There is only so much time in the day, but I must say the first 4 pages of the old posts were pretty interesting. And of course I am so thankful. My latest success was mixing a Fuji Apple recipie and a seperate white peach. So yummy...and I know without the knowledge shared here on Vu I would not have great first mixes with these two.

This is like reading the jacket of "if it were a book". Nicely done. @we2rcool is how I got part of my signature. One of the2 told me I was cool.

I just finished reading this entire thread. I've been lurking in the shadows for about the past month learning and soaking up all that I can. I am brand new to the DIY scene, so I'm a blank slate. Soon I'll be making my first order of FA, and looking for some suggestions. I already know for a fact that I am getting Monsoon, that just sounds amazing. I have come to love the sweeter fruit type vapes from my local vendor. And love drinking coffee, but the coffee vapes from them have been almost tasteless and no sweetness at all.

Now with all that out of the way, a little bit about me. I'm a Texas boy. I've been vaping for about 2 years now. I used a vv tube mod when I started, but now that I'm serious about vaping got a Joyetech EVIC VTC Mini and a Crown tank. I do temp control mostly, but find that certain vapes are better in power mode. I have learned so much from you all and feel like I already know many of you.

I hope you will accept me into the family and I look forward to any suggestions and advice all are willing to give.
