I boil the cotton to clean up taste then use half of what I think I want to wick a micro. It should fit snug without dragging the coils. leave the ends bushy like a paint brush. It's going to come up short in juice delivery if its choked and then burn cotton. that's yucky!

Think you got your cotton too thick or too thin, and a lower voltage may also help.
I run both 50/50 and 70/30 in a mini PT2 without any problems.
1.8 ohm micro coil wrapped on a 1.6mm diam. # 16 blunt tip needle.
Organic Cotton Balls from Wallgreens or Sally's Rayon.
I don't worry about Hydrogen Peroxide, as it's just H202, (like water is H20).
Was even used internally by doctors in the old days.
And there's so little of it left after drying, meh.

I thought organic was bleached with peroxide? I don't know, I use yarn. I boil it. Are you using flavor wicks by any chance? Also, some flavors do gunk up quickly. Just thinking out loud here.

Just repeating what I've read about cotton, I use Sally's rayon.

Me too - won't go back to cotton (which is just as well as I have 500 feet of rayon LOL)
I'm a bit cheap some times, for $4 more I got the 3lb/1500ft box, now have enough for everyone I know that vapes.

Did you snip your coil legs, or twist them until they broke off? I always used to twist, since I had several that just BARELY stuck out after snipping, and caused some shorting, which = burnt taste.

Is it organic cotton, or the white stuff? Only use organic, the white is bleached with hydrogen peroxide, don't want that.

Great advice.

However read the fine print on your organic cotton.

Being paranoid by nature, I called the manufacturer of the organic cotton that I purchased from CVS.

Turns out they use Lye in the process.

So I boiled it and it was fine for as long as it lasted.
