Plume Veil, Veritas, Tobh, or Quasar?

Hey all,

Got a black Stingray X clone on the way and, of course, I would like a new RDA to top it. I already have a Stillare and a Magma, both of which I love for different reasons.

I'd like to blow some big clouds with this bad boy, but I don't want to lose a ton of flavor either. Recommendations??

Plume in black. I like it the best out of all of those you listed!

Yeah? I was thinking of copper, but have no idea how it would look. My Other two atties are black, so I was thinking about a change of pace... but once you go black...

Never tried the PV or Veritas, but currently own the Quasar and used to have a Tobh v2.5.

Vapor producing wise, ease of use, conductivity, and overall quality with the Tobh was very impressive, but I found it to severely lack in the flavor department, not to mention the draw was way too airy for me, even in the smallest setting.

The Quasar is great, but without having tried the other two, my recommendation doesn't really hold any weight, However, since you already have a 3 post atty that I assume you like, why not move toward something else? The PV and Veritas is something completely different from what you currently have, and based on the many reviews I've seen/read on both of them, overall consensus seems to give them both very high marks for flavor and vapor.

I stay with my patriot and TOBH for the ease of building on them.
The TOBH does have an airy draw though.
I do have a 5 post rda that hits like a beast but every time I have to do a build on it I want to throw it across the room.

Quasar is awesome for flavor but has a slightly tighter draw. Plume veil is gonna be your best bet for performance, but the Veritas is AMAZING for flavor and convenience. I take it out with me now in place of my tanks because of it's capacity.

It isn't a black one but the copper Tobh looks pretty nice on it.

I'm in love with the plumeveil. It's my favorite atty at the moment. Great flavor and huge clouds, you can't go wrong.

I have tried most of them and i keep going back to the Magma lol, at first i thought it was unbeatable for flavor then i misaligned the air holes when i refilled which killed the vape .

When you line it up correctly so both air holes are open and build a large coil , 1/8 mandrel preferred (you only need one ) it's a cloud and flavor machine , so good in fact i bought another .

Nothing else compares imo

Just bought a Veritas due to it's non leaking reputation and deep juice well . The 454 big block looks interesting as does the Viking.

Have you tried had a chance to try a plumeveil? I have a magma and while it produces decent flavor, I think the plume has it beat, but then again I haven't been able to throw dual parallels in the magma yet because of the post holes, so that may have something to do with it. I like the 454 big block, I threw dual, vertical, parallels in it and it performs like a champ. I'm just really digging the plume though... I'm getting awesome flavor and huge clouds from it. Put it on your list and if you don't like it I'll buy it from you!

I can't wait to get my Plume Veil in! It's supposed to ship Monday or Tuesday. I think it's genius how you screw down the drip tip insulator to shorten the chamber to get more flavor, but you don't lose airflow because it opens the air holes on the top. Sometimes I wish I went to school for engineering...

I have tried it and it's good but you got to remember every individual will think one is better than the others based on their individual experience . I have never read anywhere, and i read a lot, that the Magma produces decent flavor .

It seems anywhere i go and read about it , it is by far and away the overwhelming pick if flavor is your main goal . My experience with it confirms this to me, and i do a simple build on it . I can't wrap my mind around how good it could be with more technical builds.

If your only getting decent flavor somethings very very wrong but like i said everyone has their preferences.

Since when is decent a word that means bad? In my dictionary it means satisfactory.

Oh, I thought it was great flavor until I got better flavor out of the Plumeveil. I'm a flavor chaser as well, and as I said, perhaps it has something to do with the limited amount of build space on the magma. I do have dual coils, 5 or 6 wraps of twisted 28 gauge, wrapped around a 2mm screwdriver on it. I'm not done playing it with it, but yes it is my experience, and in my experience I've found something that produces better flavor. I don't think that will be my experience alone either. No need to get defensive about it though. I was just trying to help. Have a nice day.

I don't think i was getting defensive at all , sorry you feel that way . Yes, decent means "just satisfactory " to me as well , and thats why i'm confused about your above comments .

You say "great flavor " but before said just satisfactory or decent . When i say decent my interpretation is it's OK , definitely not bad but definitely not great . Sorry for any misunderstanding friend.

Glad you like your PV

My bad, Sometimes it's hard to decipher a person's tone and intention when using text to communicate. I didn't mean to belittle the magma in any way. I still enjoy mine. I just currently enjoy the plumeveil more, so I was focused more on the description of my experience with that. Admittedly the magma was the top of my list for flavor production up until this point. It may be back there again, as I'm always playing with builds. I'll try to not use lackluster adjectives when speaking about products that deserve more praise. :)

Love my Quasar for flavor! The others are excellent as well but I just keep going back to my quasar.

I didn't take notice until I went back to some other favorite atties that I found how much I really like the Quasar. Perfect draw and the chamber seems to be just the right size for the flavor I like. I run mine on single coil only, but use both airflow slots a little less than halfway open on each side.

Yes, it is hard and some have taken what i was trying to say differently than i had hoped on more than one occasion , guess it's the nature of communicating by text as you mentioned , no harm done.

Hey, no need to change the way you refer to things , i was the one who read it wrong , nobody else seemed to take it the wrong way or found it confusing so your fine , i think i'm the one at fault here.

Anyways, enjoy your Labor day weekend.

@Dutzy, that's good news because I have one on order from FT and can't wait for it to come in. Probably another two weeks or so... big upgrade from my K100! Btw, how's the switch? Heard it was a bit crunchy before it breaks in.

Ont thing to consider is that there are a lot of add ons/mods that you can get for the TOBH (some crossplatform to the Plume) like glass top caps, Chuff Enuff drip tops, etc. if your the type of guy that takes a dremel to his new RDA the Vulcan clone would be a good choice, as I dremeled eout the entire 'V' for more airflow. For easy dual/quad specific RDA's the Doge Competition RDA and the 454 Big Block are hard to beat for the price.

Take it apart when you get it and clean the hell out of every little nook and cranny in the switch. I used a toothbrush and warm soapy water. It's nice and smooth.

Forgot to ask, did you have to disassemble the switch to clean it?

So just a quick update. Just got my copper Plume Veil in from FT. No holes in the negative posts! SO. WEAK.

Put in a ticket to see if they'll send me a new base. Last thing I want to do is ship the whole damn thing back. Considering it was $13 and change I can't be too mad. Besides, first time I got anything shitty from them.

But DAMN!!

Did it ship any faster than normal? Another two weeks before I can use this thing would be downright cruel! :)

Fasttech will be offering a Kayfun lite base replacement like they do for the 3.1 but as of yet still waiting . Regarding shipping , always choose one of the USPS options , i think it's under a buck or may not even be a cost difference but definitely a speed difference .

This is for USA based customers of course , average speed is around 12 days but could be considerably shorter .

@VH fan

Not necessarily , my point was that the Magma still works fantastic with just a single coil and ohm's from around 1.2 up to 1.8 . I was very surprised just how good it was with builds in that range , especially if taste is your thing. I like 28 gauge

If your going with a single coil go with a larger diameter , it holds more wicking material and be sure to tuck both ends into the well .

Rayon (preferred for RDA's ) or cotton works fantastic , if using Rayon, use a slightly tighter fit through the coil but if using cotton don't snug it through the coil as tightly.

Dual coils work great as well but i prefer higher ohm builds than most people on my dripper's and other stuff. I like a somewhat neutral vape and don't care for the overly warm types that many seem to like .

Yeah With the magma I am seeing that I have a dual coil twisted 28 g and I thing I will jump to 1 ohm like ya said for the magma it seems a bit hot

Always worth experimenting , for me personally , i get better flavor when i go with builds higher than most like , i have tried all types of hotter builds but i just do not experience the same flavor lol.

Make sure both air holes are open regardless of whether your using dual or singles. My favorite builds are typically in the 1.2-1.5 ohm range and under 20 watts , much closer to 15 actually .
