Im dying to find out what he had....probably nothing other than diy juice compounds that itchy finger feds thought were explosive....
Ill bet he was making mechanical mods, and this is how california is going to ban them, saying that the mod bodies were for pipe bombs or some shit, more details!!!!

Crase is being held in Sacramento County Jail on booking charges of possession of a destructive device, possession of ingredients to make a destructive device and possession of a firearm silencer.

Hmm. Tubes, threaded on each end, hole in the center... I wonder if he actually had a suppressor (or parts to make one), or if they're mistaking an empty mod tube for a suppressor, or if they're intentionally labeling a mod tube as a suppressor in hopes the ATF will prosecute.

Material believed to be potentially explosive at a Citrus Heights home had to be detonated for safety.

potentially explosive???
That could be anything from a jug of PG to a half dozen Sony VTC5's!!!!

believed to be???
A dog turd could be believed to be potentially explosive!

This guy is fucked because they blew up the evidence (or lack of evidence) needed to help plead his case!

I hope he's smiling in that pic because he didn't do anything wrong, knows it, and knows he's gonna win and give the system a black eye in the process.

I hope.

This event took place on the 14th.
He was supposed to have an arraignment date of the 19th:
http://www.news10.net/story/news/local/sacramento/2014/08/16/explosives-suspect-rearrested/14161875/

I can't find anything new about this case, but my google-fu isn't the best out there. Does anyone else have further information?

I looked at the Sac County jail website earlier today. He was to be in court today, but the date has changed.

Most households already have the ingredients to make explosives under the kitchen sink and in the laundry room. It will be interesting to find out just what the cops "detonated".

It will be interesting to hear that. That info doesn't seem to be out there anywhere.

A Man I used to work with Got arrestted for having a M*th lab in his home. He has sinus troubles and often buys OTC antihistamines. Well the pharmacy called our nice police Dept on him. They searched his house and the Rookie Cop found some cleaning chemicals under the kitchen sink and walla off to jail -name in paper - missed work- the whole nine yards. Charges we dismissed and the Rookie Cop was the bunt of many jokes around the Police Dept for a few weeks

an update for those of us who ordered a big dripper:

My name is Ben Cabie and I am one of the Co-Founders of Grand Vapor Station. This is in regards to your pre order of the Big Dripper by Sub Ohm Innovations. You may have heard the news regarding the creator of the Big Dripper, Cale getting arrested. Attached is the official statement by Sub Ohm Innovations regarding the incident and production of the Big Dripper.

We have spoken to the Co-Owner of Sub Ohm Innovations and he has assured us that production of the Big Dripper is in full swing and is still on schedule for Oct 1 and may possibly be finished earlier. We will definitely keep you updated on any future developments.

It is an unfortunate event but we are hoping everything works out for Cale. We don't know full details but having gotten to know him over the past couple months, we can say that he has always been nothing but humble and down to Earth.

We understand that some people may be uncomfortable with the situation and will honor any refunds should you choose to. Sub Ohm Innovations created a great product and we are confident you will like it. There is nothing like it on the market that performs as well as it does. We saw one post in a forum where someone said it offers the convenience and flavor of a Kayfun with the performance and clouds of a dripper and from our experience, that sums it up. Add to it the unique serial number system where you can verify its authenticity and the lifetime warranty for manufacturer defects and the Big Dripper is hard to beat.

Thanks again for shopping with Grand Vapor Station and if there are any questions or problems, you can email myself or support at [email protected].

So basically once it gets to court it will be laughed out.
I had a cop stare me down because I was driving down the street hitting on my 26650 mech mod. Of course I was sub ohming and blowing copious large clouds.

Hopefully so. Never underestimate the capacity of the legal system to do stupid shit. It can be much like saying "Sorry" after running you over with a threshing machine.

The probably saw glycerin and thought it was nitroglycerin. LOL And the mech mods were mistaken for pipe bombs.

Shit, if that's the case, I'm screwed if I get searched. Same with any DIYer out there.

I have a gallon of Glycerin in my closet, and I know of people with much, much more than that!

There's some awareness of PVs in my state because moderate legislation has been passed, but I'm sure there are rogue cops out there just waiting to bust vapers on "drug paraphernalia" charges.

Take two of these mods and disassemble them completely.

Reassemble one mod using 510 caps on both ends.

Hmm, looks sorta like a suppressor...
Another one with buttons on either end could easily be misidentified as a destructive device, especially by those who know nothing about mods or vaping.

Then again, if this guy really is a hardcore tinkerer / inventor / etc., it's quite possible he assembled some things he shouldn't have.

I can see this one going either way.

Just Google "solvent trap"

1/2"x24 threads on one end, 3/4" NTP threads for an oil filter on the other

This was in Kalifornia...nuff said

P.S. Don't look now..your CAR is a possible rolling Fuel air bomb thanks to all that gasoline you have in the tank

Hmm, looks like his bail got reduced, next scheduled date is 9/30. Darn, if it was going faster, I have jury duty in a few weeks...:)

I think so, but his case is still going. There's a new court / meeting date in December.

All I can say is I wish I had bought 2 big drippers instead of one:D

All I can say is, I'm glad I waited and bought two clones for a third of the price of one genuine article made in an Orwellian police state...

I got my authentic and a clone. Want to know how close the clone is? I can interchange parts between the authentic and clone. The cloners did a rather good job on some of these Big Drippers.

I have a feeling those "clones" aren't clones at all, but extra devices made by whatever Chinese machining shop Sub-Ohm Innovation contracted to manufacture their first batch, but sold directly at Chinese prices. Why else would they copy the Sub-Ohm Innovation logo and serial number engravings on the base?

Cloners clone everything about mods and attys because that's what sells. I'm surprised as hell that my clone big dripper has parts that interchange with the authentic. You might be onto something with your idea of the machine shop running some more units to sell on the side. Considering that the Big Dripper is supposed to be a somewhat limited edition dripper, the cloners have pulled the stops out and probably have 10x the amount of big drippers for sale as the entire production runs of the authentic. If the authentic big dripper is made in CA, I'd say the Chinese cloners managed to make my clone from the exact same type of materials, down to the fucking spring in the juice chamber.

The chamber is different in all the clones the authentic has flat ceiling and only a slight taper in the center as the clone is fully tapered.

Nope, not mine. The only way I could really tell the difference was that the clone has/had rough 510 threading. Once I screwed it onto a ss building base, the burrs and crappy threading were gone.

Maybe it was just the first run? The only real one I've seen wasn't a full dome

No Idea. The guy I bought it from on ebay had 100 of the clones for sale, they lasted about a day once someone got theirs and raved about it. My buddy texted me and told me to get one, so I did. We compared mods, exact same S/N of 120. Now the guy's listing is done. He did email me to ask if I liked my clone.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think the clone was an authentic with rough 510 threads, that's the same issue that held up shipment of the "authentic" from Sub-Ohm Innovations. Shit, for $40 I should have bought 2 more while I could have.

Bump. His case has disappeared, and I've had no luck finding an update. Is anyone else still paying attention to this? The last "court" date I know of was supposed to be 12/3.

I didn't see this before. I skimmed the thread a little. I do know that there has been a few time people have came over while I had out my DIY and coil tools and what not. The one said if a cop came in and seen it they would have hit me for making m*th by the stuff and how it looked lol. Not so funny though dudes dad is a cop, he wasn't kidding. The containers and torch and other things when together are contraband around here, I guess.

I was just making a 30ml of fruit smoothie menthol and putting a fresh micro coil on the igo.
