Problems with USPS shipping product

Ordered from Wetvapes Saturday, shipped USPS Priority 2 Day. Got the shipping notification literally minutes later. It actually hit the shipping stream late Monday. (Which I expected.) Tracking worked and progress was typical. Hit my PO Wednesday morning and was in my mailbox late Wednesday afternoon.

I know some people experience problems with USPS shipping. I so far have not been one of them.

So you're the 1 lucky bastard.
I've had to replace lots of e-liquid due to delivery person stuffing my mailbox full on several occasions. Not to mention a completely shattered Triton Tank and the CoolFire4 I got had a nice big crack on the box.

That is arguably the fault of the shipper.

This is one thing I've noticed with all three of my vape shipments, each from a different, and well-regarded vendor: Less-than-sterling packaging. My mod at least came in a USPS small box, but it was too small. The box was actually bulging. My GS-Tank and Crius each came in shipping envelopes, rather than small USPS boxes.

Luckily: Nothing arrived so much as crumpled, much less damaged, but that was more a testament to USPS' decent handling, or luck, than anything else.

Explain to me please how it's the shippers fault our delivery person is a moron who can't tell when something is too big to fit in a tiny mailbox. And also has no clue that you can't just stuff it full without damaging something.

I wrote "arguably." That means "could be." Then I gave personal examples of how vendors packaged product in such a manner that, had it not been Handled With Care, would have resulted in damaged packaging, if not damaged product.

Vendors should be shipping this stuff in such a manner that it is at least marginally resistant to shipper abuse. All I'm saying is: If your stuff was packaged in a manner similar to the way mine has been: No wonder that you've seen occasional damage. Should a local route carrier stuff more into a space than it can reasonably hold? Of course not. But they will, and it's well-known they will.

I've also had other shippers leave stuff on the front porch, in the rain and wind, with nothing to protect it from getting wet or blowing away, other than a deep soffit over the porch and a bit of luck. They shouldn't do that, either.

Well we seem to have extra stupid delivery people here. The Fed Ex person has left 50lbs of coffee on the doorstep multiple times where it promptly gets stolen. The UPS person has apparently no clue how to use an Intercom. And the USPS person must think my tiny apartment mailbox is the Tardis.

Good point if shipper packages product correctly how can they crimp or break a tank in a freaking box with popcorn or better bubble wrap.. I agree these cheap asses that put their products in a delivery envelopes with crap packing.. Seems that you hit on the actual issue of things getting broken atleast

Ha-ha-ha you postal groupies! Our wonderful USPS strikes again!
Of course some "postal" apologist will come up with some excuse or blame
angelcigs for packaging or some such BS. Maybe I'll get blamed 'cause?

Package, vapemail expected delivery: Today, Thursday November 19th. Miami.
Last scanned date: Monday November 16th departed Oakland, California.
So in 3 days this package has been in transit and has managed to avoid
getting scanned 'cause... it ain't bigger than a breadbox...?
...'cause the mail handlers don't make enough money?

Maybe it'll get here tomorrow...Saturday? Next Monday?
Who the hell knows? It's being delivered by our wonderful USPS
so one never knows because USPS may stand for United States Postal for it sure doesn't stand for SERVICE.

Lemme guess...It's the fault of the gub'min 'cause they wanna make sure you have a pension...

Whenever I have something shipped USPS Priority 2-Day: It gets scanned out of the departing sorting facility and the next time I see it, usually late the night before or early the morning of delivery, is when it hits the local sorting facility. And so it went with the vapemail I received yesterday.

If they bother to scan it I see it when it gets to the notorious Opa-Locka sorting facility,
again when it gets to my local station then when it's out for delivery.

But it doesn't always work that way. I've had packages in hand where tracking says it's still in transit
and packages scanned as delivered still in California.
I'd say it's a Miami thing but I see folks all over the US with the same complaint.
You're just a lucky dog, Jim

Mail came...still no vape mail!
The package left Oakland, California 94615
on November 16th, 8:57PM. Expected delivery to Miami, yesterday November 19th.

Today, November 20th USPS Tracking still says:
November 16, 2015 , 8:57 pm Departed USPS Facility OAKLAND, CA 94615
Expected Delivery Day: Thursday, November 19, 2015

In Transit...so for almost 4 days my goods have been sitting somewhere
hiding from USPS handlers & scanners because...?

Oh yeah, because of the pension somebody gets in 70 years.
Nah, not a Miami thang..

Post office sucks...
Evolv sent me a DNA 200 board last Friday and USPS tracking said that I'd get it today..
Cross Country in a week I can understand.... HOWEVER Evolv is in OHIO near the PA border and I'm in PA!
A week for 400 miles is (IMO) effing ridiculous! Did it go pony fucking express??

ANYHOW... Tracking said it left Harrisburg (hour and a half from here) @ 3:58AM Friday (today) and it is currently 9:09 PM and not only do I not have my fucking board, according to the tracking it hasn't "arrived" anywhere yet...

Ashtabula OH, Akron OH, Warrendale PA, Harrisburg PA... Left Harrisburg (hour and a half away from me) @3:58 this morning and hasn't been seen since
Warrendale is a USPS black hole. I've had issues there previously...

This is almost funny. Ha-ha...
Apparently I've angered Mr Zip and the postal gods.

Not only did the package scheduled for delivery on Thursday the 19th not get delivered,
it's lost in space and USPS Tracking still says it left Oakland, California on the 16th.
It being 5 days after it got shipped I filed a case this morning..

But this is where the situation gets unbearable and makes me get "postal",
Not vape mail but another item, some keyboard adapters so I can plug an old keyboard into USB
were out for delivery this morning...

Mail woman came by left nothing. Then came by again and left junk mail.
Old lady chased her down, nothing in the truck...old lady went to PO at 2:28, closed.
Called USPS Customer Service...after ONE HOUR ON HOLD
finally spoke with a nice chick who told me it was scanned as delivered.

So today I've had to file TWO cases with USPS..one lost in space another delivered to wrong addy.
But you tell me USPS is good..

USPS has been good to me, but all my vape mail is delivered to my PO Box in town...not to my mailbox out here at the house...soon as scanning says its at the post office I can pick it up early at the front desk even.... No complaints here with USPS.. they've been on time with deliveries the last three years I've been using them...sorry to hear you have troubles.... Good luck

Have you considered tipping your mailman?

Is Hazy still upset his mailman hates him? Lol Yep!

Nobody tell him, I don't want the poor guy to have an aneurysm...but I just got my VTC mini I ordered today from my letter carrier. Total of 8 days shipped from China, 5 of which was getting to Los Angeles. Btw the little fucker rocks, very happy with it, but I must complain about something so...EFUN sent me a Cyan one, not the white one I ordered! Guess this little guy will be donated to the wife!

Have you considered tipping your mailman?

I usually leave my mail man a little bottle of JD and a gift card or something at Xmas. Also if I see him during the week I offer him cold water, I know how hot it gets waling all those miles! Tipping really isn't necessary...Honestly people, just be friendly. Some carriers are douchebags but you can usually tell if you have a nice one. Be nice...they're more likely to pay a little extra attention to you. Plenty of people on my route have my personal phone number if they need to contact me.

I grew up in the country and this was standard practice*.However I now live in a big city and we seem to have revolving postal workers so this wouldn't be an option for me.

If only I could be on your dads route :D

Back when I started and didn't have my own route I was working other carriers routes, either in whole or parts of to help out. The first Xmas I worked I was really surprised how much was left out for the mail man! I basically had my mail satchel hanging in the back of the truck full of stuff for the regular carrier. From bottles of wine, gift cards, money, and a shit ton of snacks (I admit I ate a few of the cookies) I had one in a hispanic neighborhood, I loved it. Old women bringing me fresh tamales and tamarindo drinks, I never finished a shift so damn full lol

As to your revolving letter carrier: a technician always carries the route on the regular carriers day off (sun/mon one week, sun/tues next week, so on so on) If you're constantly seeing a different carrier every day then your either on an auxillary route (no bueno) or your carrier is so overloaded he's handing off portions of his route for others to carry, which nowadays is typically CCA's...and that's a crapshoot.

We lived in a very rural part of Florida. Our house was 10miles south of where Everglades Airport is that is the very definition of truly living in the sticks.

I never used to tip our USPS delivery folks. But then, as I noted, I found that USPS was doing a better job than UPS or FedEx Ground, particularly with trying harder to notify us of a delivery to the door, so now I make sure they get a tip each Christmas.

USPS has bungled my monthly juice order and its 5 day late. I was subsequently forced to go to my local B&M for butt rape in the form of $22 30ml bottles. I hate USPS with a passion.

I don't mind paying for upscale e-liquid especially considering 1 of my local shops is Frisco Vapor.

The never ending saga of my continuous battle with Mr Zip continues.
In our last episode HazyShades bitched and complained about my problems with
USPS actually scanning and delivering my mail as they should.

In this episode we bring closure to the previous by informing y'all that I finally received my ivp mini v2
10 business, 14 days after it was scheduled to be delivered.
I had to place a tracer on the tracking number and it was eventually found.

But the story continues.
Today I receive five (5) packages in the mail.
One of those packages, with tracking number never got scanned at all.
Over a week in the USPS system, me emailing the merchant asking why he hadn't shipped my item yet
and my mail lady hands it to me..
My mail lady, who has now become very nice and friendly after out altercation mentioned in the previous episode,
also handed 4 other packages. I watched her scan them in as delivered.
As I sat inside opening up my goods I got an email from USPS
that one item had been refused by recipient. WTF! Printed out the page and ran outside,
got in my trusty steed and chased down the carrier whose route I know better than she.

She searched her truck.."No, nobody refused a delivery today." She told me to go see her supervisor.
I did. The supervisor telephoned the carrier but the carrier's phone is messed up
and they haven't given her a new one though it's been two weeks.
The super looks and can't find the item marked as refused and returned to sender.
She asked me to go home and call her back with the tracking numbers of the packages I did get.

I came home and looked up the tracking numbers of my four packages that were scanned,
THEY WERE ALL MARKED REFUSE RETURNED TO SENDER.

In order to avoid further problems with merchants and credit cards
I had to spend ONE HOUR on hold to speak with USPS Customer Service
so they can mark my shit delivered.

There is still one item that was supposed to be delivered yesterday, December 10th
which was last scanned on December 8th somewhere in Texas.
If it doesn't get here tomorrow I have to put a tracer on it on Monday which means
another hour on hold with USPS.

In our next episode we hope to give closure to the missing item lost in Texas case
and update you on the next two items that just began the arduous and perilous
journey to my home in the hands of USPS.

I've had my own little almost-kinda-USPS-saga. Ordered a Bellow v2 Nano from Eciggity, for a Christmas present for myself. USPS Priority Mail 3-Day ™. Shipment was picked up by USPS on the 7th. Delivery was projected to be the 11th. Now, unless this is some kind of New Math with which I'm not familiar: 7 + 3 = 10. That was ok, though. It's not like I'm in a great hurry. But then it sat for three days saying "Arrived at USPS Origin Facility" in Honolulu, HI, never showing a departure. Then it mysteriously arrived in, and departed, Phoenix, AZ, in less than two hours. Leaving Phoenix early in the morning of the 11th, USPS' site was still insisting it would be delivered to nearly the opposite corner of the country on the 11th.

Of course it wasn't.

Then it mysteriously showed up at my local PO, having somehow skipped the major sorting hub further south in the state and the distribution hub in my local area.

Somehow, overnight, USPS' systems finally figured out that, no, it wasn't, in actuality, going to be delivered on the 11th
lol.gif
It's now showing "sorting complete." I imagine it'll be "out for delivery" today.

One out of 5 possible packages to be delivered is actually out for delivery today, one still in limbo in Texas
4 delivered yesterday but marked refused are still marked refused even after spending an hour on hold with USPS to have those marked as delivered.
I'll know more and be able to file a tracer on the package in Texas as in about two hours
unless they change my carrier again and her route gets done
backwards in which case I won't know until 6 PM.
I'm putting out a contract on Mr Zip

Unless it mysteriously falls off the truck.
As long as it falls into the mailbox or onto our porch: That'd be just fine :)
ETA: It made it!

LOL: Caught up with the mail lady--one of two that deliver our route. Gave her $10 as a Christmas tip to split with her alternate. She must've been the alternate (I can't keep which is which straight--they're both blondes of about the same age), because she thanked me and, when I told my wife, she said "But I already did that! I guess I should have told you..." Oh well: Merry Christmas, mail ladies :)

Meanwhile: Placed the last Internet order this morning. Paid to have it shipped UPS Ground. Not taking any chances at this point.

Apparently UPS over estimated their ability to manage their load this season (again) USPS will be handling the overflow. I've been completely screwed by the amount of UPS parcels I've been running since the beginning of the month, and by screwed I mean I''m working 84 hours a week all December till Xmas screwed.

Hopefully your side of the world doesn't get jacked, but just a warning that USPS might be handling more than the normal 40% delivery of UPS packages this holiday season...

Honestly it does depend on where it goes through. Like if your stuff is coming through Bell Gardens CA USPS sorting you can pretty much count yourself fucked. It's called the black hole...it lives up to it's name.

Actually, I misspoke myself when I said I paid to have it shipped UPS Ground. I specified "standard shipping," rather than taking advantage of free shipping. I wrote "UPS Ground" out of habit. That's the way "standard shipping" used to go, to me, by default. Reason I went that way is free shipping from Amazon now tends to take too many twists and turns for my comfort at this time of the year. Last year had a package UPS tracking claimed they'd handed-off to USPS for local delivery, but USPS didn't show having it. 24 hours later: USPS finally showed it.

Though Lord knows what they'll use. Last Amazon order my wife told me got to our doorstep via a guy dressed in plain street clothes driving a plain, unmarked car. I assume that the paid shipping will involve only one, hopefully one established, carrier. For $11 in "shipping and handling" charges: It damn well better be.

Just so you know Amazon themselves are delivering their own packages in some markets. Though typically they drive rental vehicles/vans and wear an unremarkable amazon shirt. Couldn't tell you how many packages people have given to me claiming we misdelivered it, then when I look at the package it's clearly marked as delivered by Amazon themselves (look on the upper right of the shipping label, it'll say AMZL or something to that effect)
