what has the actually lived up to the hype for you?

What is a device, juice, tank or anything really which has lived up to the hype for you? For me the Smok TFV4 and tfv4 mini totally deserves its praise.

While on the same topic, what has totally not lived up to the hype for you?

My Evic VT and Kanger Pro tanks. I haven't had near the issues as many others have had with the Kangers.

I have a TFV4, although I rarely use it. But it's a keeper too.

The MVP 3 Pro, is on it's last legs after 3 months of hard use. Very disappointed with it.

The velocity has been wonderful and definitely lives up to the hype, always sold out and the activity on here is pretty high about building on it:)

Love my Kennedy and my tugboat. Also the sxmini m class, However TC in general let me down. It was suppose to be a game changer but it just doesn't do it for me.

Devices = Volcano Inferno - I've had this thing for over 2 years and I still use it regularly.
MVP3 Pro Plu - Very solid performance 60watts of power and it has seriously awesome battery life and as an added bonus it fits in my huge hands.
Smok X-Pro M80 Plus - Great battery life 80watts of power the temp control is funky but I don't vape that way so it's still a good device in my book.
Kanger Subox Mini Kit - It looks absolutely ridiculous in my huge hands but this tiny little thing is worth every single penny 50watts of teeny vaping bliss.

Tanks = iSmoka BCC Mega - This is the first clearomizer tank I ever really liked it holds 3.5ml of e-liquid and vapes pretty dang good. They still make these things they only cost $5 plus you get 3 coils in each pack 1 of which is pre-installed.
Kanger Sub-Tank Plus - Huge 7ml capacity and it comes with an RBA attachment just take my stupid money already.
Innokin iSub-G - Solid performance and better taste than other sub-ohm tanks plus it's the most inexpensive Stainless Steel and Pyrex tank on the market.Did I mention the coils last quite a while longer than other sob-ohm coils plus I know I've never gotten 1 single DOA coil.

E-Liquid Companies = Bulk E-Juice - Possibly the best bang for you buck e-liquid company I know of.
Roar Vapor - Stellar e-liquid.
Good Life Vapor - Fantastic E-liquid.
Heather's Heavenly - Possibly some of best N.E.T. e-liquids on the market.Have I mentioned that Legend is better than Boba's Bounty yet?
Want2Vape - A great place to get your N.E.T fix.The signature line is a must try for any tobacco fan.
My Vape Juice - Rock solid cigar e-liquid and the only non-N.E.T e-liquid that has ever been part of my standard rotation.(Black Honey Peach Tobacco).

Single Serve = Pencil by Must Vape - This stuff is possibly one of the best e-liquids I've ever tasted.
Bite Me! by Banzai Vapor - Like having a zen moment in a bottle very relaxing and refreshing.
Formula One by Victory Liquid - So very damn good I wished they made bigger bottles of this.
Boss Reserve by Cuttwood - Rich without being too sweet I love this stuff.

Well there you have it folks and with that I'll be heading out.Dinner is coming up quickly.

((It's going to a be light dinner of Creamy Tomato Soup and Pastrami Sandwiches))

the Armoamizer RDTA. claims to be an RTA with an RDA experience. ive tried many tanks that claim this. but this one is the real deal. very accurate rda experience with the convenience of a tank. best. tank. evar.

For their time and because they got me off cigarettes, I have to give my initial nod the my little 900 mAh ego. It's dead now, but it got me off the 30 year smoking life. Then, along came the variable voltage ego. It was better, but also met it's maker. Then along came the MVP 2 and the iTaste vv3. Loved both of those, and still use them on occasion, I've had them for 2 years. I have a Provari 2.5, I don't use it as much as I thought I would, but it's incredibly well made and a nice device. I can't knock it at all.

Then one day, you trip into more power and there's no going back for your main vape.
iPV mini
iStick

I'm not into all that super sub-ohm stuff, and I'm not knocking it, I'm a MTL vaper, though. Everyone has their thing and it keeps them from smoking - I'm happy.

Kanger Protank 2 and the mini versions. I still use these all the time, I've never had a single issue with them. I do re-build the coils for those. Don't like the stock coils at all.

Lemo Drop. FLAVOR!!!!! And really easy to build.

I'm very happy with my simple gear. My funds go into flavorings and DIY for the most part. FlavourArt lives up to the hype for DIY. DIY lives up to the hype of DIY, LOL.

Bull City Vapor
Mama J's Flavor Shop
HIC's Mixes
101Vape
RTD Vapor
Liion Wholesale
Lightning Vapes
Discount Vapers

They all live up to their hype.

I hear you on the Halo e-liquid, Torque 56 has been my steady vape for almost three years now. They rated the throat hit as "intense", and yup, that's just what it was. Also, the Kanger SUBTANK. I really held off on one because I hate band wagons but then it seems like they opened the gates for sub-ohm tanks and I finally got one. I'm glad too finally be free of my dippers.

13 months ago ish I switched from clearos on an evod to an I stick 20 and nautilus mini, after scouring this forum and begging for advice. 20+ year, 2 pack a day smoker, and I had been comboing smoking and vaping for around 6 months, and was ready to walk away with a pack of Dorals in my pocket. Haven't had a cigarette since 10/4/2014 as a result of heeding the advice.

I have, of course, upgraded that set up more than a few times over this past year...but nothing whatsoever has come close to living up to the "hype" for me of the nautilus mini. It probably saved my life tbh.

Good question. Off the top of my head:

Istick 50w. I kept hearing it was a great deal but could explode at any moment (lol...slight exaggeration)...but mine has been wonderful.

Sig 150 box mod

subtank mini

clapton coils

dripping, in general

DIYing, in general

--one thing that, for me, didnt live up to the hype: temp control. Just didnt do anything for me.

MVP/Nautilus team. I've been using my first mod the MVPv2 everyday for well over a year with a Nautilus. It's beat up, been run over and it's getting hard to thread the tank on but it still lasts all day on a charge and I fill the nautilus once a day. It doesn't get any easier. I have the MVP 20W to replace the old one with a Nautilus mini on it for my higher nic tobacco flavors when I want a bit of extra. Also, DIY juice lived up to the hype.

RDA's in general did not live up to the hype. I have enough electronics education and hobbies that after my first coil it was just mundane. But, at least I have a couple RDA's and some wire if I ever need it.

Top of the list winner IMHO is Steam Engine & It's free but totally awesome. It has enabled me to build hybrid Claptons with exotic wire perfect the first try.
Subtank = STM with RBA deck V2 & Smok TFV4 with dual coil RBA
RTA = The Goblin mini has exceeded my expectations.
accessory = The coil master. Works great with screws set to closest position.
The DNA - 40 large screen. Mine is twin 18650 custom Hammond G box 2+ days on batteries
Reactor Wire (NiFe 52) temp control wire. This was key for temp control because I hated anemic Nickel, cant dry fire, must run spaced, cool vape BS!
Cottonman angel hair OB for my tanks & Maviton select OB for RDA
Favorite RDA for flavor is still 454 with custom taper bored Ultem chuff. It's PITA to build on but I keep going back to it after Kennedy's, Mutation V4 etc.
Juice is Cape Fear - Front, Drip Clouds - Mango Lychee, & Teleos - Pound Cake

Christmas wish list is DNA-200 & UD Bellus

VTC Mini. The best mod in the history of vaping.
I will agree with you that they are a damned amazing bit of kit for the cost.
Until I got hands on with one I did not fathom the finish was like auto paint, decent heft and hand feel. damned good on the features.

I have several mods tanks and drippers all good but the stand outs that (IMO) have lived up to the social media reviewers and their hype are:

IPV d2 battery mod. Darn thing just works and work's well.

Sigelei 150 watt TC. Well made, handles everything I put on it and lasts me all day on the two 18650s

Herakles sub ohm tank. Great flavor and vapor.

Lush dripper by Wotofo. Modestly priced great flavor and decent clouds with a deep juice well.

APO v2 by Ghetto Customs. A higher end dripper that I was very pleased to have bought. Great flavor, great vapor and so well made.

Starting from the beginning for me.
Evods. DC performance in a single coil setup.
Cotton yarn. Doubled the flavor in any tank I used, increased the vapor output and nicotine absorption as advertised.
MVP2. That dude would last me a week between charges with Evods .
Velocity rda. I don't think it has been hyped enough to be honest. Great flavor, great output, super duper easy to build on/wick and SO many ways to do it. Also refilling is just as easy. It's the closest rda to being drip and drive safe I've yet to see. Put the unit between my legs, drop a gazillion (sarcasm) drops into the chuff cap, enjoy without ever taking my eyes off the road but its only drawback when d&d is the clouds are too thick to be able to see the road if not exhaled directly out of an open window.
This new thing of tanks with rba attachments and the improvement in stock coil/wick that are included could be the next big thing. From novice to expert, 1 tank fits all potentially.

Kanger Mini Kit, Definitely did not disappoint!

Looks and feels great, as well as chucks clouds with the RDA.

Really good kit for around $65. Got one for the misses too.

What did disappoint:

Love my SMY 170 TC and 60TC Mini Mods, not really much hype about them but they work for me and I love the screen. As for tanks, the Aromamizer RDTA with the velocity dual vertical coil build gets my vote. I bought one just to try it out and now have two, one for each mod, easy build, great flavor and true RDA experience without having to drip !!

Magma RDA, I have serveral RDA's and this one has the best vape of any I have. All things being equal it gives a warmer vape and flavor that I have not been able to get out of any of my other RDA's. I do have a Nixon coming in and I am hoping it will come close to the Magma.

Lives up:
100mg nic DIY mixing (about 75 cents per 60ml/2 oz final product, supplies included, piece of cake, total win in every way)
Koh Gen Do cotton/Muji cotton (lifetime supply < $20)
Unregulated series boxes (ya had to be there)
2015 oh yeah

Does not live up:
single batt set ups
hardware cloners
tops are all shit (weakest link in the vaping chain by far imo)
YouTube vaping celebrity reviewers (started out so good and ended up so bad)

Lives Up to the Hype:
~ Vaping as a smoking cessation aid
~ The money saved by vaping compared to smoking
~ DIY helps save even more money, as long as you do not have to have the 'latest and greatest' gear
~ There are a lot of stupid people vaping and there are a lot of people that know absolutely nothing about vaping.
~ There are a lot of smart and experienced people and vaping organizations that are not being listened to by the public, local, state and national government.

Does Not Live Up to the Hype:
~ Vaping has taken huge leaps in recent time, making it hard for local vape shops to stay as informed as their own customers (the ones that try to stay informed). I would rather hear "I do not know, but I will check on that." then listen to some line of crap. The principles remain the same, but too many people are getting lost in the huge leaps forward that the industry is taking.
~ the Vaping Community sticks together. This is not true. There are quite a few groups (just look at some of the different message board as an example) that want to have all the input and all the control. There is also large difference of backgrounds and reasons for vaping. From younger generations to older generations, from vaping cloud chasing 'thugs' to vaping 'social clubs', from vaping groups (of various type) to those who do not care about anything beyond themselves.

I will stop here before I turn this into a /rant about one thing or another....
