Years ago, I bought a bucket of small and inexpensive thumb opening lock blades for like $20.

I always have one in my pocket and the ashtray in my car.

20150912_220522.jpg Actually... I have 2 Gerber multitools... One of them is the "top of the line" Legend 800...

I like my Leatherman better...

In fact... I recently got a brand new Legend 800 (Gerbers lifetime warranty IS nice) that's still in the box that I'm thinking about throwing on CL

Honestly Leathermans and Gerbers are great. It all depends what you need it for. I keep a Winchester multi tool in my backpack, but don't use it often. I like to carry just a knife, since that's all I need. It works great for any small fixes I need to do on the go, and was only around 20 bucks!

My relationship with a product begins and ends with the quality and fitness of purpose. Did I get what was paid for? Advertised? Warranteed?
If you want to base your purchases on other requirements that's your prerogative...

I carry a crkt automatic knife or a crmt M16 special ops lever lock all day every day. Before that I kept a junglee with me at all times.

I have a fondness in my cruel little heart for Gerber, local company and had family that worked there.
CRKT also local has some decent blades, I like them a ton.
kershaw... take it leave it.
Benchmade. Ok these dudes have a true place.. I used to walk to the business when they were next to Kimber firearms. The guy who sharpened my blades for me was the designer of the original conan sword.

My m16 and something I grabbed at a gun show last year.
As a former chef in the kitchen wustoff, Henckels (5star and their professional lines) and Shun have given me the most reliability.

OK I have had both of those kitchen knives in the german lines.
Honestly the best one is a shun styled cheapy I picked up, 6 bucks and takes an edge without the worry of fuckering up a 150+ blade for daily cooking.

For home use I totally agree with you.
Granted, I haven't been in an industrial kitchen for 5 years now; but I still have and use all of my professional knives. The henkels and wustoff are almost 20 years old, Shun are 10 years old and they all still bone a chicken like cutting through butter. Personally I've never fucked one up, my ex-wife on the other hand got pissed off and put them in the dishwasher once.......once.

Damn, neither one have given me any issue, I wanna say Henkels I have its a mixed group, I don't buy sets I bought, the individual knives I needed, I prefered the pairing knife from wustoff and the boning and chef knife from Henkel. But all were sent to a local guy once a year for maintence and what not.
Guess iits different when those are the tools you use to make a living. But, they've served me well at least.

Not saying they are not good blades and companies. Just saying busting a 6 dollar blade because you drop it is a ton easier on the soul that watching a 150-300 8" chief god into pieces.

Roger that, that's what I was saying home use vs industrial.
When I was married the good ones stayed in the bag and I had a set of inexpensive block knives at home.

OK on the fish no dice on the shellfish, TOOOOO much bullshit for the bivalves to filter and sea roaches are just disgusting.
Besides deathly allergic to shellfish.

had to retrain myself in how to cook once mom got sick, forgot how super simple it is and better for you.
I get cashier comments on produce I select and have had a couple of fired when they make snarky comments about eating poor.

Always trust your cashier, they moonlight as dietitians. Lmfao

Sucks on the shellfish dude, but more for me! One of my favorited is shrimp and scallop wrapped in bacon then put on a mesquite grille. :)
Put scruple of those on top of trout meunière or blackened redfish with holandaise.
ok, gotta go to the dock

I would contact the State Police in Michigan, there may be laws that allow for collector purposes and or blade length.
Or just not say anything.
Kind of faddish really, a decent liner locked one will open as fast and easy.

If you want a laugh, seriously the shit is fucking side splitting funny... see if a local vendor will hand you a copy of cold steels cds... HOLY meat abuse!!

But they have an impressive folder section on the liner and lock back stress test.

Ya know you can get a lower frame with rails and some jackass company makes pistol bayonets.

Sadly dude, I don't doubt you for a moment.

Reminds me of a guy that I most reluctantly worked with years ago who was a pathological liar.

This was before they passed the law about "Stolen Valor" making it a criminal offense to falsely represent yourself of having served in the armed forces.

While I have never served myself, I have friends and family members who have prodly served.

And I have worked with the Department of Defence as a contractor and consultant for years which has increased my exposure to second hand military knowledge.

This clown went around claiming having been in the Army and the Marines as well as the Secret Service protection detail for President Johnson.

I almost fell out of my chair one day when he was talking about the weapons he had been issued.

A 45M1.

Must have been made special for him as part of his black ops duties.

ASSHOLE!

Who knows what this dipshit was trying to say.

There were a few real vets, my buddy running the parts counter was a Sergeant in the Marines (Boot Camp I believe) and we loved listening to this jerk tell stories.

I also remember one time when he called me from a customers facility to get me to solve a problem for him.

Long story short, the metal conduit box (also known as a "Peckerhead" was breaking off the motor housing. Turns out they were running the wires throgh solid conduit which if out of alignment will do that.

I told him to tell the dude to run "BX Cable" (wire surrounded by a kind of braided flexible metal sheath) and all would be good and the problem fixed.

I was about ready to strangle the asshole anyway when he asked me what BX Cable was. He really should have known that already. I told him just to tell the guy what I said and he would knowl.

Then he started to argue with me and said "I am an electrician and I have never heard of it!!

I hung up on his sorry ass!

Oh it does and love it when it is the basis of some of their employment.
Only to have their lies, lie them right out of their jobs.

Had one who was telling astan lies at a base one of our former Marine employees were at. So after hearing a stupid amount of Military slandering bull from the tarded liar.. I called over the former Marine and asked him flat out if there was a fire control center and air traffic center at his FOB..

Lead balloons hit the air. Liar fired on the spot since it was his integrity his job needed, not his lack of tech skills. They figured if you would lie about that or steal food you were stealing from customers or lying to customers.

For all of you with CRKT watch the locks.
Cold steel filed a lawsuit about false advertising about their virtual fixed blade claims since the 45lbs ish to 75lb lock failures.

My EDC I love this knife. CRKT KISS I've had it since they came out. This knife is used abused and only thing more I could ask for is it to be fully serrated cause it doesn't hold an edge for shit. I'm naked without it. Me and this knife have a special bond I've lost it 3 times and it keeps finding its way home. Once I left it on top of a rental van cause I used it to pop out a window seal to haul a swing set. The van was then rented and made a run to Ohio and back and my knife was returned to me after I was pressure washing the van and it fell off the roof. 2 months later. Another time I left it in the rain tray of a semi truck I was working on. Truck left went across the country and out of the fleet of 10k trucks I worked on the same truck again and found my knife where I left it over a month later.
Best knife ever for what little it has to offer

I'll post some pictures tomorrow when I'm not in bed lol, but I have 3 main EDC blades I carry. I rotate between my Benchmade Mini Griptilian, CRKT Mah Eraser or my baby, my QTR Master Spicoli #259 out of 300 in the Texas tea color. Just recently sold my ZT 0560bw

CRKTs are great blades! I just got my first one (the one in my beggining post) not too long ago, and it has yet to disappoint me! I know for a fact I will be buying more CRKTs in the future. I'm considering getting the M16 E.R since it's a first-responder (glass breaker, strap cutter) blade. Could come in handy when I'll be on the ambulance.
