Temp protection istick tc40

I just purchased a Istick TC40W. Its set at 400°F, .13ohms, 38.0W.
The temp. Protection keeps kicking in while I'm taking a hit. Is that a bad thing, will it break my mod?

If you dial down the wattage to 35W, that might help. However, it shouldn't break the mod.

On the TC40, you cant dial down the watts, it is set to 40 always. Hitting protection does no harm to your mod, i would try a bit higher temp though

Lowest I can go without dealing with that is 420 F. I have only 4 devises that does good for temp control. The Sigelei 75w temp mod, Sigelei 150w temp mod, ipv 4s, and SnowWolf 200w. I also have the Hana mod 40dna and the evics 60w temp mods but they all are garbage in temp mode. Only way to get decent vape IMO is 50w or above. Over 60w is where it shines so the 40w devices are a waste of money.

As long as you're getting the flavor you are happy with it's fine! As mentioned above you can try turning up the temp and see if you prefer that. It certainly won't hurt the Istick :)

Wait... so the mod gets the coil up to temp and holds it there?
Or it is saying dry coil (or whatever it's warning is) to tell you the wick is dry and it stops firing?

No the temp protection is to keep the coil firing at that set temp... (According Manuel... The manual)

Like I said in the above comment even with the temp protection running I'm not getting any harsh or dry hits

Then it's doing what it should be doing.
Want more vape and heat, turn the temp up. Want less, turn it down.

I have a juice, that vapes best at 380F and 30W on my Sigelei 75W TC. Another juice vapes best at 490F and 45 Joules on my IPV4S. How do you explain that @keithh1981?
The "right"' setting for temperature and joule/watt depends on the juice, and your preference. In other words, your comment is BS.

That's what I thinking I mean cmon now, snow wolf sig 75 a sig 150 etc and you think temp control is garbage, I'm going to say user error, with those devices which are all really good TC devices.....

The "+1" was for your comment. Or in other words, "ditto". I'd like to see his explanation.

Sorry I misspoken, on my Vic vt 60w and my Hana mod DNA 40w. Anytime I try to vape below 450F it always going into temp protection. Often after a while using the Hana mod or evic 60w I would have to notch up the temp to keep it from going into temp protection.. I always would start around 450F would end up around 580F. I don't think some of these mods are any good in temp mode since my preference is around 420F and have no problem with the 4 mods I use when I occasionally vape nickel.

Overall I prefer regular coils over nickel for me better overall experience .

Those devises (Hana mod and evic 60w) were always garbage for me for temp mode. The Snow wolf I can temp on 200w no problem. On my Sigelei 75w mod I can vape at 75w no problem and Sigelei 150 temp 100w and my ipv 4s at 50 w all at 420 with no problem doesn't matter what juice I use. I personally believe it is the quality mod you use. I normally when I vape nickel temp I use Super Tank with the Tobecca .1 nickel coils. Not once do I have any temp protection with the 4 mods I use only with the Hana mods DNA 40 and evic 60w.

I was giving a comment on my opinion as it is user preference. Explain how my opinion is BS since on the devises I use you can go past 60w. Only good device I cannot go past 50w is the ipv 4s because only goes up to 50. Tobecca .1 coils are the best temp I have come across so far in my experience and is a pleasure to vape 120w plus at 420w on the SnowWolf 200.

It's your build. Something is up with the build kicking you out of temp mode. Make sure your leads are snug. No contact in coil. What topper are you using. All this nonsense of vaping above "x" temperature isn't you're problem. Temp control requires everything to be snug.

On my Koopor Mini with the Aspire Triton I run my temp at 520 degrees. The temperature protection kicking in is doing what it is supposed to be doing and if you are satisfied with the flavor and output at that level then don't worry about it. The temp protection keeps you from getting burnt hits. If you want more vapor and flavor, turn the temp up.

Sorry should have said to switch to vw mode press and hold the MENU button for 5 seconds. Not the fire button.
