After the unfortunate "news" earlier this week, I made it a point to watch a certain movie this weekend. I hadn't seen this movie since mom & I went when it was in theaters. Donno how long ago it was, but I'm coming up on 31; probably when I was 15. I thought it was good, but too young to fully understand it. After finally watching it again, I'm glad I did. I see a lot of myself & problems in the main character, and it made me realize a few things about myself.

Good will hunting

With Yamaha’s Electrified TransAcoustic, the Entire Piano Is the Speaker.
by Matt Peckham

It's a fully acoustic, optionally silent piano teamed with a pair of transducers and a digital sample set lifted from Yamaha's premium CFX concert grand, producing a piano sound you've never heard before.

Here's a random thought I just had....

When you hear the term "home lab", what's the first thing you think of?

Nowadays, most likely, it's drugs. However, for my Dad and I, it meant two things:

1. An actual home lab for science experiments and his work as a Pathologist.
2. A photo developing lab.

(It's how I learned to take pictures; he used 35mm B/W and Kodachrome II for color. Developed his own film, then sent the negatives out to get slides for preservation.)

My, how things have changed, eh?

Went thrift shopping...got loot...for $12.

  • Those are Calvin Klein "Super Sandwash Twill" pants. Got 'em for $1.00. Like wearing a chamois they are so soft. :D
  • Comfy boxer briefs in an understated paisley..I dig 'em.
  • The old 6-cell HP battery pack, I figured that for $2, I can try to salvage some 18650's on the cheap. ;)
  • Older, still useful D-Link WBR-2310 router in case mine takes a dive. :)
  • USB cable for my new camera, for $2

Winning....

Was just watching a few minutes of Return of the Jedi and a thought occurred to me...
Stormtroopers can be killed by getting shot with a blaster, in a fall or, apparently, getting whacked in the head with a rock thrown by some furry little mutant koala.
What the hell good is their armor?

Guess the emperor went with China clone armor to put on his stormtrooper clones. Wonder if they came with extra o rings and a little blue screwdriver.
I'm such a geek, I once seriously considered getting vanity plates
