Because of what I can only call dishonest marketing, I am stuck with an IPV 4.

I know the 4S is a great device, but there are issues with the IPV4 I'm not sure I want to deal with. I really wanted to vape it this week so should I keep it or try to get a refund?

Well it does say IPV4 upgraded to IPV4s software. That kind of sucks I feel your pain there.

If they do refund maybe get on this one. It's the read deal IPV4s and great price, free ship.

It clearly mentions it is an IPV4S not IPV4. Contact the vendor, if they refuse to refund you/send you the correct device, issue a chargeback through your bank.

Completely agree, contact them and see what they say. If they are not willing to do anything, then dispute the charge on your credit card. That is a crappy way to offload problematic gear!

Very deceptive marketing. Based on the price alone, even is it was a 4s, I would have moved on, but that's just me.

Here's how the discussion went with the vendor.

Hello I placed an order on your website last Friday.

You advertise one of the mod as Pioneer4you IPV 4S 120W Box Mod with Temperature Control - Silver but you sent me a regular IPV 4.

I was ordering the IPV 4S for the following reasons

  • Removed charging board (eliminate shorting issues)
  • Removed the 9 voltage port hole
  • 0.05 ohms in nickel and titanium mode
  • Supports dual titanium wire
  • OLED clear screen protector (replaced tint)

None which are present on the mod I've received and it's clearly stated on the box that this is not the mod I ordered.

I have been a happy customer with your site in the past, but I find this very frustrating and unprofessional. I was buying this mod to have something reliable to vape with during the job and I'm not interested in the IPV 4 because the 9V port hole which gets full of eliquid.

Please tell me there is a way to correct this.

Sorry you feel that way but none of that is stated in the product description for this product . it clearly states that it is a upgraded IPV 4 with the IPV 4S Software. We are not trying to fool any one with this . The product described in the product infomation is what you were sent.

Thanks

Also I haven't paid by Credit Card. The payment was made via Interac so I'm not sure if I can dispute it.

Sounds like they won't help you. They suck...The description does say ipv4, but they know damn well they wrote it to be deceptive.

I would contact Interac, explain what happened and see what can be done. I also would NEVER deal with that business again period! Good Luck!

Cheers,
Steve

Honestly, I get their point that the product description makes it obvious that it's not an IPV 4S, but I've spent 3 days researching the mod I wanted so I did not read the description. When I see IPV 4S in the title, I expet an IPV 4S.

Of course I will never deal with them again and I will warn all Canadians to not bring their business to this vendor.

Since this wasn't your first order with them, I'm surprised they won't work with you. I would think they would want to make/keep their customers happy. Seems like a failed way of doing business. If your story stops even a few people from doing business with them, it's going to cost them more than they made from the IPV4 sale. Penny wise, pound foolish.

I am seeing more and more deceptive vendor website item pages meant to mislead the buyer on purpose as of late. You have to really be sure to double check what you are buying before clicking on place order, same goes for Ebay sellers. Be more aware of items in your carts. Because this tactic that is happening and being used more and more lately, I double and triple check what the item is, what it's cost is and making sure all if any discounts are coming off the total price.

Should I still use the mod if they refuse to refund me? I could always tape the 9V port and mod the mirrored screen.

It's definitely bait and switch and overcharging based on the bait. Good luck.

As far as "issues with the IPV4" I haven't seen them, I still have my charging board in and that is the only issue I've heard about. If you are stuck I wouldn't worry about issues. If you think for some reason your board is going to fry because someone else's did simply remove it. Plenty of instructions how to do it out there.

I would. IIRC there are you tube vids showing how to remove the charging board completely if it bothers you. I would not use the on-board charging however. I would take the batteries out to charge, I don't trust charging 18650 batteries wired in series inside the mod.

Your absolutely right..I removed both of my charging boards in my two IPV4's
after hearing they could short out..clipped the three wires close to the solder and lifted out the boards..and used a eraser to remove the mirror finish on the strips to brighten up the display.. Super easy 15min job

I've had the ipv4 since it came out. I don't believe there is anything wrong with the charging board in these devices at all. The problem is its close proximity to the case without adequate insulation. I opened mine up (2 screws) and slid in a piece of plastic between the board and the case post and have been using it ever since. Upgraded to the ipv4s software and way I went. The charge board is a $10 item. They saved money by removing it and upped the price. Personally I would rather have the 4 over the 4s. That being said, If I had the mirrored screen I would probably not feel this way.

Thanks for sharing. IMHO the web page is VERY MISLEADING. Yes it says upgraded software in the description but why the fuck do they call it an IPV4S in the title? even their Product Code is "Product Code: IPV4S" I am also Canadian and I have considered ordering from them because I like their selection, but If that is how they do business and treat their customers I will not order anything from them ever.

I think I will keep the mod and just remove the board and fix the screen. Is it safe to remove the board if I have no experience in soldering whatsoever?

No soldering needed Jack..
Simply pull the two screws, let off the back and pull the board out its location..
Follow the three wires down and cut them close to the solder in the mod..
Next you can lift out the mirror strip..I used an eraser on the mirror side to remove that mirror film..
Then reassemble ..that's it..
Hope this helped

All you have to do is clip the wires at the connection point to the main board.

Alright, it seems simple enough. What kind of tool do you use to clip the wires?

If you need to ask how to clip a wire I strongly suggest you don't fix the screen yourself. No malice intended but maybe find someone with some basic skills to lend a hand.

Thanks for jumping to conclusions, but I have basic skills, I just don't have wire cutters so I was wondering how people did it.

You should contact them and tell them why you won't be a customer, maybe something good would come to the OP. If they never hear negative feedback they will continue their shady practices.

Yesterday I searched canvape on Reddit's "Canadian E Cigarette" SubReddit and there are several pages of negative feedback for canvape on there. It looks like they have a reputation for ZERO customer service after a sale. You buy it, they ship it & that's pretty much where it ends for them.

I would probably take them to small claims court to them for this. What fucking douchebags. Even the pic says IPV 4S
