If you recently acquired a Pioneer4You iPV2 50 watt box mod chances are you are a bit protective (perhaps even OCD) about keeping it looking clean and pristine there are two companies that provide quality vinyl wraps for this new box mod. I was very pleased that they each company were extremely helpful in providing samples for me to do a brief review and compare. I hope you find this comparison effort worthwhile and helpful. (I wanted to do a video review but was having equipment failure. My apology for the quality of photos.)

Please note. I am neither an employee of either of these companies nor am I paid to do this review. I have tried to present only the facts about each product and not skew the comparison review with my preference in product or vendor.
(BTW... I am donating the remaining wraps to two forum members that have been super helpful to the vape community: the first to BugOutMachines for his excellence in the iPV2 review process and the second to Dhim for his amazing 3D printed docks. Thanks guys, you make THIS forum top notch! )

Here are the links for the wraps offered by both companies:
http://www.vaporskinz.com/collections/ipv2
http://www.jwraps.com/All_Jwrap_Designs_s/2186.htm

VaporSkins comes shipped in a small CD case sized cardboard flat. The vinyl comes in 4 pieces: A front solid piece, a back solid piece (with notches cut out for the battery door screws), the side panel piece with button holes, an atomizer hole as well as the touch fire sensor (which looks a tad off center). There is a cut out for the display screen. The other side panel does not have a cut out for the P4Y logo screen (which may or may not be a plus) but it does have the USB port hole, the USB charging light hole, and a rather small cut out for the battery air venting. When applied correctly the side panels seams slightly overlap and connect at the touch fire corner as well as the opposite corner (near USB plug light).
COST is $18.00 US

JWraps comes in a large 8 1/2 x11 sized flat manilla envelope with cardboard enclosed to keep the product from bending. Strangely, the vinyl came to me in two different print arrangements.... not sure why or which print arrangement is the standard.
The first arrangement was in 4 pieces: A front solid piece, a back solid piece (with holes cut out for battery door screws), the side panel piece with button holes, an atomizer hole as well as the touch screen area. The other side panel does have a cut out for the P4Y logo panel (again this may be a plus or minus for you). The bottom has one large cut out to provide access to the USB port hole, to see the USB charging light hole, and a adequate space for the battery air vent . When applied correctly the side panels seam to slightly overlap and connect at the touch fire corner as well as the air vent area on the bottom
The second print arrangement was in 3 pieces. A front panel, a back panel and a long (one piece) side panel which includes the atomizer hole, the side buttons, the display screen, the USB light and plug and air hole cutout (all one large hole), the IPV logo panel, and the touch fire sensor button. The seam on this layout has a slight overlap and is located on the top of the unit between the touch fire sensor hole and the atomizer hole.
COST is $18.50 US

The Black Carbon Fiber (from both vendors) has a very slight tactile feel. I see NO difference in the carbon fiber and brushed aluminum vinyl material used by both companies. They look and feel identical.
The Black Brushed Aluminum (from both vendors) has a very slight tactile feel (and also looks to be the same 3M vinyl).
The Black Ostrich and the Black Mamba have a unique and distinct tactile feel. The Ostrich feels a little like fake leather (it is a bit tacky or sticky to the touch) while the Black Mamba feels a little like a fake snake skin (and is a little more slippery to the touch).

Both products came with all the holes properly die cut however a couple of the stickers were not removed. (ie a button hole properly cut but the inner sticker still in place) I simply peeled the inner sticker off and no problems.

As this thread is for simply comparison purposes only (to help you decided which product you prefer) please see the online video tutorials from each company on how to apply these products properly. I will say that both products apply easily and stay stuck amazingly well. I observe no corners peeling up, bubbles, etc. I needed no heat gun/blow dryer to get these to apply properly. I have also found that they are removable without leaving behind significant adhesive residue. There was NO damage to my iPV2 in applying or removing these products.

I am adding a post below with photos labeled for each company and the vinyl type. (Please don't flame me for the quality of the photography... my good video camera was not cooperating today. I did the best i could with what i had.)

Vape on, vape safe!

I really like that they at least for me add a non slip texture to the mods.

And I love the black carbon fiber look.

And installation counts as physical therapy for me as well!

i put a black ostrich (pleather) on mine and i have to say, I like it.
Gives some texture and grip.

Are they removable without leaving the mod a sticky mess? This is my only concern, if it starts peeling.
I do like the added grip and custom factor though.

I have noticed no sticky residue in removing them SO FAR. Nor any paint chipping/peeling.

Here is a before applying a wrap to my iPV2 and after applying the black ostrich wrap.
You may notice that the edge of my charcoal black box looks a little different in the after shots... sort of silver on the edge. This isn't from the flash or photo shopped. I was bored today took a little risk and actually filed (using a paper nail file) the paint off of the edges to make the box look sort of framed. (a little like the variant). 2014-08-10 06.56.50.jpg2014-08-13 19.53.29.jpg 2014-08-13 19.53.58.jpg

Yes the dock is 3D printed by Dhim (here on VU). Super clean, light, great design and inexpensive. Check out his thread.

ALSO.. if you WANT a chance to win a wrap please let me know in your post (to add your name to the hat).

I have used both J-wraps and Vaporskinz on other mods. They are both great quality.
Would love to have a new 'outfit' for the IPV2 that's on the short list of future purchases.

I got this wrap from j wraps it a black carbon fiber I wanted the red carbon fiber but I called them 3 weeks after I ordered to see where my wraps were and they told me they were out of the red so I changed to the black. I also ordered the vaping underground wrap for my vapor shark dna 30 and I think it looks amazing.

I want a wrap to protect my investment. I am in the ARMY and find myself doing so crazy stuff so knowing that I can drop my mod(I try not to) and not damage the finish is a plus in my book. Thanks for the review.

Names have been drawn and a PM sent to the winners asking if they indeed want a wrap and what their shipping address is.
If they decline or do not respond in a timely manner I will move down the list the next name.

Thank you all for your posts and views.

Giveaway timeframe is now closed but feel free to continue to comment on the review, show your iPV2 wrap, and discuss.

Sincere thank you to Jraps and VaporSkins for the samples and their commitment to provide such a great product. WAY TO GO!

Thank you for the review Budkiss. glad you liked it.
Just wanted to add a quick note about the overlap. From time to time we get an email from customers thinking its a bad cut or not accurate. The overlap help keeping the vinyl wrap on the device longer. It is much stronger then making the two edges to meet perfectly. Vinyl tends to shrink and expend within time. If we made the two edges to meet vs overlap the wrap will be prone to peeling and allowing dirt to go in-between, results in short vinyl "life". :)
I just met a lady at the Vape-A-Palooza event who purchased a wrap from us over a year ago and it looked brand new. Pretty awesome.

Thanks again for taking the time reviewing our products, we appreciate it.

I installed a Jwrap on my Vamo V2 over a year ago.

Still looks brand new after all this time and repeated cleanings.

Don't get much better than that:D

Jwraps... you are very welcome. GREAT product. You probably noticed that I using your black ostrich wrap on my iPV2. LOVE IT!!!

I got bored one day and decided to use nail file to take the "edge" off of the wrap on the front and back panel. (yes, I am a bit OCD) I discovered that if I file the charcoal black paint off the edge of the box it reveals a very nice, shiny silver. SO>... I did the whole thing to give it a bit of bling. :)

When do you think you will have a wrap for the iPV3 (due to be released aug 30)?

My guess is that they will have a wrap ready shortly after they can get their grubby hands (no offence) on the mod and do that voodoo that they do so well!

Can you imagine the stockpile of mods that they must have to allow them to make the patterns?

Or before. I saw J-Wraps post that they will have wraps for the new Provari up on their site tomorrow. Provape hasn't even announced a release date.

Please do not take my comment wrong!

Huge fan of your work no doubt about it:p

IMHO, with all these devices you have the makings of a vaping museum!

Somthing I would really like to see in the future;)

While I have your attention, do you have any intentions of coming up for a wrap for the Dovpo E-Mech?

If there ever was a mod that would really benefit from your product, this is the one!

As I understand it, the newest version comes with the decals but it is up to the owner to add them or now.

But I can't but help think that that "canvas" would look great with a SteamPunk look!

Hopefully, you are working on the V2.

V1 has too many annoying flaws IMHO to be worth your while.

Other than covering up the ugly decals!

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but Dovpo is getting ready to drop the E-Mech V3 which is supposedly the final version. Not real sure of the details though. Just a tad of a language barrier. But the E-LVT is getting an upgrade to the 30 watt chip they are using so the exterior should be remaiing the same if you are working on a wrap for that one.

I am planning on ordering a wrap from Jwraps and Vaporskins to see how they look.

I installed the gray carbon fiber on my IPV V2 from vapor skinz and it looks great but I would love to try the J wraps to see which one I like better. I'd love to try the black carbon fiber this time.

How is the jwrap holding up on your ipv2 @BUDKISS? It looks nice and I'm in the market...

Im actually using an ipv3 now. The wrap is still golden. Both companies do a great job. I recommend the stuff with a bit of texture. Seems to be thicker and sticks really well. I used a hair dryer on mine after application. (no necessary but i think it helps the adhesive set better).

I need to invest in a wrap for my V2. There are scratch marks all over by the screw holes on my v2 ( my hands shake really bad). I replaced the screws with thumb screws from an old smok scar. Problem solved and now I don't have to carry a screwdriver. Ot actually doesn't look bad either. They are brass and black carbon fiber wrapped in it would look slick.
