I freaking love this calculator.

Okay, now that I've said that, how do I use the portable setup correctly - or should I even use it at all? I have my main desktop computer that I work at, and a small laptop/tablet combo that I like to use at my "flavor lab" desk. In fact, that's why I bought it. I want to be able to have the same information available on both computers at once. Inventory, new recipes, etc.

I have a OneDrive account with more than adequate space, and was thinking about using that. Can I use the OneDrive account to make a folder specifically for the Juice Calculator data files and just use the default directories for the program files? Basically, just install the program on each computer and then use the OneDrive for the working directories and files.

Thanks!

P.S. You can download the most current version HERE if you don't have it yet.

I love this calculator too! Here's the summary of the answer Rod gave on another forum when someone had a similar question:

"So... if you just want to share your recipes and ingredients you can use the standard installation and save your juice file on Google Drive. If you also want to share settings and shopping list, use the portable installation and install it choosing a folder on Google Drive. Create a shortcut on your desktop and point it to the EJuiceCalculator.exe on your Google Drive (done automatically by the installer)."

So will that include adjusting my inventory levels as well?

There are some subtle differences between installing it on 2 machines and linking to the data file versus doing a portable install.

If you do the portable install, both machines point to the same program file so your settings, printing and shopping list are shared. (shopping list is my downfall!). I believe inventory is ok either way.

Before I lead you too far astray, if you visit the ECF forum under DIY E-Liquid there is a thread New Calculator to Try and it's Post #1319

As WhiteHighlights stated; You can use the standard installation and store your juice file on something such as OneDrive (google, etc) and have the same juice file available to all installations. If you use the portable installation and install it on OneDrive and launch the program from OneDrive, you will also share all settings and your shopping list.

This is too cool! Installed the portable version to my OneDrive folder on my desktop and created a portable folder. Saved the juice file there. Loaded it on the laptop/tablet from the OneDrive folder. No installation needed, and it is fully synced with the desktop. YES! :D :D :D

Is there an option to make a VENDOR drop down list somewhere - like for the MANUFACTURER option? I couldn't seem to find anything in the help file. If not, it would be a very useful item to have for inventory and pricing purposes. I get wholesale pricing through Capella, but say I want to buy from somewhere else - say, a single flavor to complete an order to get free shipping. I have FA flavors from 3 different vendors right now, as well as CAP.

Version 6.0.1.1 is available for download. It includes:

1. An internal change that I hope nobody will need to use. If an exception is thrown I create a text file that can be sent to me to aide in troubleshooting the problem.
2. I added the ability to "remember" previously entered vendors and allow you to select from a dropdown list. This change is in both the shopping list window and the ingredient window. (see the ReadMe for more details).
3. When printing a recipe also print the "last made on" date.

Well crap. I put in a BUTTLOAD of flavors and inventory levels earlier today. I just now went to put together a recipe, and almost all of the flavors weren't there! Apparently, I didn't exit the program correctly and lost all of my input.

My bad, gotta go put in some flavors - again.

Okay, so I tried to duplicate a flavor so that I could give it 2 different costs from 2 different Vendors, and I got an error. Is there any way around this without having to change the name of the flavor?

If you made updates and attempted to close without saving you should have gotten a warning message. Are you sure you lost the changes?

A manufacturer (not vendor) plus ingredient name makes an ingredient unique. Based on the error you are trying to add a duplicate ingredient.

I got the warning. I hit "Yes" to the "Close without saving?" warning by accident. Purely my mistake. :(

Yes. Is there a workaround? I need to be able to apply more than one cost to an inventory item with the same manufacturer but different vendors.

I know this is asking a lot, since you've already gone FAR above and beyond, but is there a way to make Manufacturer+Ingredient.Name+Vendor to make an ingredient unique? Also, sometimes there are different costs associated with the same vendor, such as Labor Day sales.

Now that I think about it, even 2 different sized bottle from the same manufacturer and the same vendor will have 2 different costs/ml.
