Hey all, hope this is in the correct thread, but I'm having issues with my subtank rba section. I just started building on this to avoid spending money on OCC heads. I built a .8 ohm Ni200 coil at 7 wraps, vaping it 450F at 27.5W. The cotton I am using is the Japanese Organic Cotton included with my subtank. I can't seem to shake this "cottony" taste when vaping. It just plain doesn't taste as good as when I use and OCC Coil Head.

Is this normal? Is there a break-in period? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I find it takes a few vapes to break in cotton - but not that much. Is the vape at all dry? I'm wondering if you have too much cotton! It may also be that if you turn up the temp the flavor will jump out at you - have you tried a higher temp?

Also I"m assuming you mean 0.08, not .8? (You'd need a gazillion wraps to reach .8!)

Not getting any dry hits, I'm pretty confident that there is a correct amount of cotton, and I just ramped it up to 500F and the same thing.

I just added a bit to my post above as you were posting.

Try less cotton - sometimes you need less with TC - perhaps?

Its good to note that I'm using the newest subtank RBA version, with the side feed holes.

Just re-ricked, I actually fed the cotton through the feed holes this time instead of packing it up against them, will post results.

I have not, I've been using cotton bacon for the longest time, and switched to the Japanese tonight to see if thats what was causing the bad flavor. Same results with both kinds of cotton. It's so frustrating, I cannot fathom why this is producing such bad flavor and that awful cotton taste

My tank even smells differently since using the RBA over the OCC. By that I mean when I used to smell near the drip tip I would smell my delicious home made flavor, and now it smells like it tastes almost, cottony.

I'm hoping its just my allergies fucking up my sense of taste, but even the other day I was getting this taste when all of my senses were clear.

Out of ideas! Sometimes with new things I stick them in the UC for a few cycles - any machine oil can mess with the taste. You might consider rayon from Sallys!

Rayon made a helluva difference for my subtank mini's RBA. It's certainly worth a try

Good thing I work right next door to a sallys lol. Do you guys boil your rayon?

Nooooo....it would make a terrible tangled mess! You want 'cellucotton' but check the box - some of it is actually cotton, not rayon (same color box).

The rayon hype is real. Have not used it to work on my subtank problem yet but I wicked my incredibly low 24g parallel with it and its wicks like a dream. Was getting 1 hit with cotton and now with the same amount of rayon 3-4, insane. Thank you for the recommendation.
