Smok X Cube II - Smok's Temp Control Take 2

Just got mine today. Swapped from a sigelei 75w tc. The smok is amazing! Been using it all day with a smok tct and im loving it! One thing i will add though, is that you need to download the app before using the mod in tc mode. There are some settings which need to be changed on the device which can only be changed via the app. The co-efficiency was set real low, so i set it to 0.06 for my nickel coil.

I saw the same thing with the co-efficient on one of the youtube reviews. I've already downloaded the app. Just waiting on the device. Supposed to have it on Monday! So far the only negative I've seen was user error. I hope it's going to be a good device.

I was worried when i first got it out the box as it didnt feel like it was hitting hard enough. But i watched an hour review on the mod the other day and remembered them saying about having to change the co-efficiency setting. I actually got rid of both of my sigeleis to get this mod. My sigelei 150watt, and my 75watt tc. I wasnt a fan at all of the 75, battery life was terrible

You will not be dissapointed when the device shows up though. Im in love

I was/am in love with this mod, but had the money for the DNA 200. Hope I made the right choice.

Its real nice, worth buying for sure. I put my smok tct on it and ripped it at 100 joules 450 degrees so warm and flavorful :)

The only bad reviews i have read are the app sucks and the battery cover comes off often
I don't think the app sucks at all. Some will like or not like having the app, but I find it interesting and convenient. I do agree the battery door needs a couple more magnets and a slightly better fit, but I don't have a problem with mine just sliding off. It could and I could make it easily. But in my normal vaping I have no issues. I am actually really enjoying this device.

I thought the Sigeli only did 50J with nickel? Does it have the ability to TC Titanium wire?

100j with nickel and no Titanium selection but you can adjust the temp to vape with it.

I just recently bought this mod and cannot get the led turn on. I obviously turned it on in the settings but I can't actually get it to work. Can someone help me? Do I have to update to version 1.7 first?

Hi Guys,

I know this sounds so fooking stupid but,
my partner got me the x cube 2 and the Tfv4 as a gift. I have no clue what I am doing as currently use the EGO cloud. The Mod seems bad ass just dont want to hurt the coils if get the settings wrong. Is there a guide out there the SMOK one seems a little incomplete.

Cheers

I think I might pull the trigger on buying one of these this week. A local shop has them in stock and its a great place to shop. But I've been in that place 2 times, once to look at the mod and buy a new RDA, and 2nd just to look at the mod again haha. I was holding out for the Sigeli 150w TC but I think I'm just going to go with this as its a lower investment for me.

A warning to owners out there, 5 clicks don't turn it off, it just locks it, you need to 3 clicks and then slowly and softly move to the on/off function to turn it off and I strongly advise you to turn it off when not in use especially while transporting or taking it around.
Some of the features will not work to its fullest capability unless you upgrade the firmware through the computer.
But, all in all, I think this is a great box and it works well in eb

oops .... continue ....
... it works well in every aspects for me. The color spectrum is really nice. I saw the comment above, sorry can't remember who, but in order formthe color band to work, you have to put on your atom which was my initial mistake.
Now I'm waiting for my TFV4, will probably arrive tomorrow and the RBA dual coil will be here by the end of this month.

Curious... why do you suggest turning it off completely instead of just locking the device when using it while mobile?

Go with the Smok TFV4 tank. I don't think they've released the NI-200 coils for it yet, but I do know they're coming out with NI-200 coils for it as well as Ti coils. They could be out already, but if not, they should be out really soon. I'm thinking about getting one of these as my "long drive" tank.

The reason I'm choosing this tank... it produces clouds like its an RDA.

Smok TCT is a nice temp control tank wish I had more of them.
The tfv4 is another they are making ni200 coils for it soon. there is a rta/rba coil head available for it so you could build your own. however the tfv4 can be anemic you really need like 75 watts or more to get good flavor from it and decent clouds.
the new Kanger vertical nickel coils are pretty nice got one in my black out subtank plus. also comes with a rba deck.
then there's the starre pro it rivals the tct on cloud production and flavor Imo.

Agreed on the TCT, it shouldn't be overlooked. The VCT Pro coils work in it, too. They handle power and have good flavor as do the TCT coils. Only downside is no RBA deck, yet.

I LOVE my Cube. I've had it for a week and I haven't had any issues. Great temp control, easy to use, love the fire "button." I use it with Zephyrus ni200 coils; a great combo.

I heard somewhere that you should press the fire button down evenly and not just with one finger from the top. I guess you can screw up the firing button if you consistently press it unevenly....??

Anyways, I def like the look of this Smok cube 2. May need to pick one up asap!

Doesn't the X Cube 2 allow you to have a bunch of preset temps/wattages? For people like me with a bunch of different tanks...

I normally press it down evenly, and I suppose if you pressed only at the top or only at the bottom consistently for a long time it might affect it, but it seems solid to me.

Yes, a LOT of presets for wattage, I don't know about presets for TC because I haven't delved that far into it yet. I really love that they actually upgrade their firmware and introduce real and significant changes when they do. You now have like 5 "levels" - min, soft, norm, hard, max and they've adjust the default temperature coefficient. Another thing about the XCube that makes it so great is the different levels of customization that are accessible via the mobile app. You can change the temp coefficient to your liking (I bump mine up just a bit above the new default), as well as view tons of data related to your vaping. It's not for everyone, but for people like me who like shiny weird gadgets with lost of options and possible future upgrades (I already upgraded mine to add functionality for Ti wire), it's a really great mod.

New firmware 1.09 introduces SS TC! Woohoo! I want to go home so I can update my device. Oh well 8 more hours of work first.

Guys...I'm hoping you can help me. I just tried to do the latest upgrade, and now I"m bricked. It just says "ERROR: NO Secret-KEY!" Anyone else ever have this happen? Nevermind. I just switched back to the old firmware upgrade software and got to 1.09 fine. I think the 'beta' of the new firmware upgrade software was messing with my cube somehow. Anyway, seems to be fine now.

I got the cube 2 days ago, and so far really like it. A few little piss offs though. The Fire Bar, stuck in the fire postion, Being shiny new and all, I managed to suppress the urge to tear it down, and instead took it back to the shop the next day, where they told me that mine was the third one with that same problem. You could clearly see in the upper right gap of the fire bar, (if you are looking straight on at the fire bar) is catching on the case because there is not enough clearance. The shop guys just backed off one of the Allen screws, and it doen not stick now, but the reason it was sticking, is that the part was not finished properly, It should have been ground down a little more on the top surface of the bar. At some point its coming apart, and I'll set up a play date for it with Mr. Dremel. Annoying.

QC should be catching this stuff, after all, there is a reason it's called a FIRE fkn bar!! I upgraded the firmware today, the "new" Beta exe did not work, so I used the older version, easy peasy. What is a piss off there though, is that it still does not do temp controll on stainless (and I'm ALL about stainless) unless you use their stupid app, and pay them 3$ extera to activate it. Sort of pisses me off, and I'll be starting a thread on that bit of shamefull cheapery. Otherwise, what's not to like? It's big! its heavy! With the TFV4 on it, I can use it to club baby seals, and blow big enough clouds Greenpeace will never catch me!

I have 3 Smok M65s, I got them from 25-35$. They fit nicely in a .40cal mag pouch on my belt, and have been very durable. The X Cube 2 has continued in the lowest price per watt footsteps, and if it is half as tough as the M65, I think I'll be very happy, and may even forgive Smok their 2 bit fuckery over the stainless TC.

Not sure if ill like the firing bar. Looks like accidental firing could become an issue. Other than that, looks good. We'll see how it actually performs though.

Well I finally got my cube yesterday and put the tfv4 tank on it with the tri coil head (preinstalled) and mis fired while it was empty and cooked some cotton. filled it and it still had the taste so i swapped out for the quad coil head and b4 i could fill it again misfire.
I could load up the rba head with cotton but i think i will wait on the 3 new tc heads i got coming in. the TF-N2, Tf-N2 Air, and the TF-Ti
what was nice is when i checked tracking I got the 3 tc heads off a seller on ebay earlier this week and saw friday that both pkgs would arrive saturday I was like how lucky could i get? only to see on saturday the ineptitude of the USPS they delivered the cube and missent the coils to another town. so it got sent back to the distribution ctr and with the holiday on monday I may get them tuesday cant wait to use the tc heads.

I am getting one of these next Saturday, as long as I can find stock, I have a shop that DOES have stock though, So I do not know wether to buy it now, to get it, or wait till Saturday and risk no stock.

It was this or the IPB 3 LI. This won. £20 in the pocket, and I hear good things so far. I have 4 25R's coming from the other side of the world as they was half the price due to exchange rate, and a set of VTC4's coming from the UK that should be here tommorrow.

I will update if I order today, if not it will be next saturday. I am installing windows on my mac just for this device, to be able to upgrade the firmware.

I also understand the $3 to unlock TC might be odd, but its only $3, I probably wont even use TC on it but I will still activate it so it can do it.

Ordering it today, so I should have it on Tuesday or wednesday. My mum is very kindly lending me the money to get it, until I get payed.

She has done this twice before, with the sig 75 and the IPV D2. She only ever excepts 30 or 40 pounds back from the 60, I want her to take the full amount as she is not a rich lady. How do you think it best I give her the full amount, I said to her "I only want to do this if you will accept the full money back" and she replied "We will see", so I know she probably wont. Maybe sneak the extra money into her room somewhere she will find it?

(Her room is not like a private place, we all go into eachothers rooms all the time, we are quite a close family, including my fiancee)

So, I guess the SMOK Xcube 2 Will be ordered and coming for during the week, early. The first site I wanted to use I cant. It says they have a lot in stock, but it says 'must select a colour' and under colour, it just says bloody colour! I can't add it to basket.

I am going to have to use a different shop, there are two others, but It will be ordered and I will have it next week woop!

I ended up using a shop called moonvapez, checked it out, its actually a shisha bar in London that also sells Mods. I phoned them as they are open 7 days a week on a landline, spoke to the guy, and said I could not choose a colour on their site, but I could add to basket.

He replied thats because we only have the silvery blue ones in stock, the one I wanted. YUESSSSS!

I have payed for it now with my fiancees help, as she had money in her account, I didn't, so am giving her the £59.60 when she comes round that my mum has also helped me with.

He said it will be with me tommorow ? or tuesday. I gather tuesday, but he did say on the phone they will package it and ship later, maybe they have a royal mail depot nearbuy? As I know they do work Sundays in the sorting offices, just don't deliver to your door on a sunday.

So, either an unlikely tommorow or a more likely tuesday they will be here. I hope that my VTC4's get shipped tomorrow, and I have some new batteries to power the Xcube 2. If not, is it safe to use a married set of batteries in more than one mod?

I just want to use it as soon as I get it, test it out and that. Annoying not having windows installed yet, as I can not update it myself yet. I have a copy, I just need to put it on disc to load it on my mac, and use bootcamp to run windows.

Some stats say.08 or .06 in TC. Can anyone say for sure which is which? I'm between this and the snow wolf 200, but the price on the Cube is much nicer!

I don't think that tiny difference would really matter in my opinion.

As long as temp control works, does it matter if one is 0.02 higher? I have bought it as a 150 mod box, the TC is just a bonus to me, but I wouldn't really worry over something so small.

The beginning of the thread lists the stats as 0.08, but I will tell you on Tuesday when mine arrives if it is wrong and is actually 0.06.

Well if you have ever built with nickel, you know how every single .01 ohms matters. It can be kinda tought to build dual coils over .1 especially if you use anything larger than 30ga wire. And you don't mush the coil together like with Kanthal, if they touch it creates hot spots so the coils are much larger. So if it could handle .06 I could use the 28 ga wire that's been sitting on my shelf lol.

True. I use tempered nickel, it handels a lot more like Kanthal, so is quite a lot easier to build with. If you find it a bit hard to work with where it is soft, try tempered NI200.

Might give that a shot. I'll have to see if anywhere around here carries it. I kinda developed my own little way of building now, I basically use a super fine threaded screw to wrap with, then unscrew the coil. Then put it over my straight jig and push the coil back into itself and that gets them pretty close together and pretty even. I wish I was satisfied with a single coil but I just don't get quite the vapor production that I would like to have.

It didn't turn up today unfortunately, but some 'genuine' VTC4's did.

Its 20 to 9 in the evening here though, so bed in a few hours, then whe I wake after a few hours mr postman should bring the Xcube 2. If not, it was not shipped on monday.

I spoke to the shop, they sent it yesterday, so it should definitely be here tommorow. My fiancee went halves with my mum, so I only owe my mum 30 quid and my fiancee payed half as a little present.

With that £30 I am going to get a 4 bay nitecore charger, then I can charge 6 batteries at once with the I2 as well. So I will never be short on batteries again lol. I want to get the D4 though, as it has a LCD screen instead of the 3 flashing lights, that gives information, such as 93% full and other info, what mode it is charging in ETC. I think £30 should be well enough, am going to have a look now at one of the shops I use, that seems to be cheapest on chargers.

I have found that the titanium from Sweet Spot Vapors on my Cube works really well. I've done a few nickel builds as well. I think because it is way easier to build with than ni200 you might want to give it a shot. It's pricey but it's definitely safe. The flavor I get is pretty amazing.
