Seem to be getting sensitive to nicotine

I only use a 3mg mix and use vapers tek nic. I have been working a lot and no longer vape when I work. This decrease in vaping makes me feel like a new smoker when ever I vape. It is a pain in the butt. Now I need to dilute my 3mg base.

I guess I will dilute it to 1.5mg which is easy enough. Just add equal amount of 70vg/30pg to the mix I have a remaining.

Has this happened to anyone else where you become sensitive to nic?

I do have more sensitivity when I am really tired so I don't vape much then. This is not the case, though.

A few months ago I bought a dual coil RDA and initially got really nic sick from using my regular 9-12mg the first night. Mixed it down to 6mg, still got me a little nic sick if I over did it. Mixed it down more to 3-4mg and lost interest in the dual coil and went back to single coil finishing off the 3-4mg.

Now I have become a 3-4mg vaper overnight. If I slightly over do it I can get the sweaty racing feeling. I did 12mg for 4 years and occasionally I'd hit on some 18mg, never bothered me in the least.. It seems when your nic level drops this low, percentage wise it is really easy to over do the nick.

Seems, like me, you've inadvertently lowered your tolerance. Start slow and be careful when you get home from work. Drink water. Good news is you will save money on nic.

Yeah, it actually feels the same as when I used to do 18 mg. It will be a money nic saver since I have 100 mg nic. It does suck, to me, though. I hate change.

I lowered to 3 mg when I started dripping several months ago. Funny how quick the tolerance faded.

I hate change too. Going from 3 to 6mg now feels like I've gone from 12 to 24mg in the old days and I never did 24mg except a sample once. It is double so it makes sense, but a mere 3 mg increase seems like it should be nothing to a hard core addict like me.

Eyeballing my DIY isn't going to work anymore.

I'm jealous of all you low nic people, but I cannot imagine vaping at 3mg. I have noticed that my nic tolerance/craving changes, sometimes for short periods, for no apparent reason. I started super high and went down almost immediately to 16-18. After just a few months I realized I was OD'ing all the time and went down to 10-12. Over the last year, I've gone back up to 15-18 at times, but mostly stick around 12.

Oddly enough, I don't experience much of a difference when I vape 12mg in a tank vs. a dripper. I guess at first I did, very briefly, but I got used to it, and have been dripping 12mg regularly for months. I guess I have increased my tolerance, as you were saying--but it happened so fast, like within just a few days I adjusted to 12mg in the RDA. I guess I'm lucky that I can both do that and vape from a clearo at 10-12 and still feel totally satisfied.

Ultimately, I'd love to go lower, though, if for no other reason than my juice is going to taste better with less nic. I also assume intensity of dependency is somewhat diminished with lower nic... but maybe that's not true.

I switched to this stuff and it really made a difference on the nic bite...in fact...what nic bite?...all you do is feel it, not taste it...

Yup I've heard lots of people love that, as well as Vaperstek nic. Personally, I'm still on my first liter (only been DIY'ing less than a year) and it came from MFS. It seems to be okay--I mean, I've had more peppery nics in cheap vendor juices. But I'm always trying to find a way to justify trying either NN or VT nic. :)

personally, dont settle for anything other then the best. 'seems to be okay" doesnt cut it for me. i have 5 half full bottles of regular nic juice stuck behind nude nic. :) try it once and youll be wishing u switched sooner. Best of luck!!

I'm in the same boat as the op. Started vaping 2 months ago. They recommended I start at 18mg because I smoked almost 2 packs a day. It was way too much. Went to 12mg on day 2, then by day 4 went down to 6mg. Hovered there for a few weeks and it started feeling to strong so I went to 3mg. Been there for about a month, buts starting to get too strong also. I've started buying 3 AND 0 juice. 2 of the same flavor, mixing in another bottle to carry around. I'm fixin to start buying nothing but 0 and if I feel the jones' I'll just use the nic flavors I currently have sitting around. Once they r gone, I'm done with nicotine.

Atleast that's the plan

I may have been really dehydrated. It doesn't seem to be hitting me the same today. Dehydration is easy living in a place with a 22 dew point and negligible humidity. I forget to drink water.

I've had this same thing happen but over a long period of time. I use VT nic and mix around 0.5mg. Started vaping about 3 years ago at 36mg and worked my way down. If I vape 1.5mg it makes me cough and gives me a buzz...lol

Wow... this is so low! Do you definitely feel you can tell the difference between 0 and 0.5%? And how do you (or anyone who cares to respond, too) think about the way reducing the quantity of nic impacts the level of dependency you feel? I mean, does it?
Are you more likely to go out without a mod, say, and not worry about getting hit with cravings, now that your nicotine needs are so low?

I started about the same time Sully did. I was at 24 for about 6 months, and though I dont remember getting "vape nausia" much, the Nic started to hurt my throat so I went down to 18 and all was fine. A few months later my throat hurt again, and I went down to 12.....then so on and so forth until Ive settle down to 4 Mg for the past year or so.

The throat hit/ harshness made me move down, not any sick feeling. I do vape non stop it seems, but I always have.

Im not sure if I have Nic cravings or just Vape cravings. Im thinking its just the habbit of inhaling something that Im hooked on.

I started out vaping at either 18 or 12mg, but for a very long time I had been at 6mg - then I got into rebuildables. I noticed that my heart was pounding all the time - especially noticed it when I was trying to get to sleep. Then it occurred to me maybe because I vape well over 100ml a week it could have something to do with it. I dropped to 3ml and almost immediately my heart stopped pounding. Recently I started mixing at 2mg...don't know if I'll ever shoot for 0mg, but I may give it a try. I like the boost in flavor that nicotine gives.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else that recently vaped 0 vs say a 3mg nic, feel like the flavor or vapor is just a bit off in the 0? I am still on my first bottle of full 0 nic, and it just feels like the flavor isn't quite as "full" I guess as with 3mg juice.

Nicotine does enhance the flavor. If you mix your own, try making juice without the nic and try it. Then add the nic and try again. You'll notice the difference right away! Nicotine & PG are both good flavor carriers.

I normally vape 0 to 3mg...most of the time it is 0. Personally I think it tastes better with 0 nicotine. I am sensitive to it especially since I have vaped that way for over a year now. I quit smoking 5 years ago, no matter what brand of nicotine I get (including vapertek) I still taste a little pepperiness or very little tobacco in it. No matter what nicotine will still age and start to taste a little peppery, harsh or whatever. Thus affecting your juice. I have not tried Nude Nicotine tho.

I totally agree with you Bryon - that no matter what nic bought over time it will all become harsher(more peppery). ;)

I just tried a batch of some simple flavors last night...with my old nic juice and the new Nude Nicotine....WOW....night and day difference...

Worse part is, i have 29 bottles of random flavors I made in my steep box that need to be REMADE with this new stuff. I cant even bear the taste of the old nicotine any more...hurts too much..

i recently got a 120ml bottle of 100mg VG nic from VT it was clear as water, barely any smell and i immediately put it in the fridge that was monday... today(wed) i pulled it out to mix and let it get to room temp then shook the everliving hell out of it(suggestion from VT) till i could barely see through it with all the bubbles mixed some up at 3mg and it was a def kick in the throat... i was kinda supprised with all the hype around the stuff... in the end i had to mix it up at 1.5 mg to get the desired "lack of throat punch" lol that i usually get at 3mg nic... i donno whats "wrong" with my nic... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... maybe @Vaperstek could help me out with ideas what to do.... i mean the nic lets the flavors come through nicely but the reason i got it was because of all the hype around it not being peppery/harsh...

no i usually mix 80/20 and no same PG and VG... i Talked to VT and there was a leak in their system whic allowed oxygen into the system and caused a big throat hit... they were very transparent about it and sent me a replacement bottle right away... I got a lot of love for VT

Yep .. know this game fairly well.
Nic starts to feel like your sucking acid but 0mg is too much like air.
This has gone far to leverage me down in nic levels ... I vape right at 2.4mg now ... at least till that starts to be painful .. then 2mg ... 1.6 perhaps ...
Something tells me Ill still have most f my nic base in 10 years

My nic level is very dependant upon which brand I use.
Myfreedomsmokes nic is very very harsh, which is no problem, I just use 2-3mg and its fine.
Wizardlabs is a bit harsh, so I can use 3-4%
Vaperstek is smooth, so I use 4-5%

lol, no ones bitching. Its a proven fact that glass will keep liquids shelf life a lot longer. Plus I have had bad experience's with eliquid+plastic.
That's all take it or leave it. Love the antique's though :p

Hey man, Idk how long you've been DIYing but, it's common practice to transfer to amber or colored glass bottles and freeze them to keep them tasting good. Some plastics can leech, this isn't new and has been common practice in the DIY community. If you don't believe me ask another experienced diyer like @Huckleberried or @wllmc or @HeadInClouds

@CurlyxCracker How long does it take to leach? I switched nics and have a plastic bottle in the closet for about 6 months. It is 24 mg in pg from eliquidmart.

Ldpe may leech. Hdpe has very good chemical resistance, which is why many nic companies feel confident using brown hdpe bottles for nic. I've never seen nic sold in ldpe bottles though. As long as its the hard hdpe plastic, I don't worry about leeching..

People crack me up, before I even attempted to DIY my own juices I read heck I still read. I bought different sized glass bottles for what I thought I would need, wee drams for testing flavorings,15,30,60,and 120 ml bottles for batches and or nicotine,PG,and VG storage. It is perfectly ok to buy nicotine in plastic - but for long term storage it is recommended to put it into glass. I now have lots of 15 ml bottles of nicotine in my freezer. I store my PG, VG and whatever nicotine mixed base I am using and all my flavorings in the fridge. My place is a sweat box and no AC. I use a pint canning jar for the nicotine and VG and a quart 1 for the PG. They all seem to be fine to me. :D and yes even in the fridge my nicotine changes but not as fast as if I leave it out of the fridge. ;)

Oh cmon guys, Its a tiny ass bottle and I go through it plenty fast enough to warrant NOT putting it in a plastic bottle, you dont need to bring in all the great DIYers into the thread to prove that you are right and KWTony might be somewhat wrong...Haha yall crack me up with this 'over complicating' things.

This thread make me LOL in so many ways

If you'll use it in a month or two, then you're fine, the bottle looked like a liter to me.
I mention them because they "mentored" me along with @Roundhouse (BullCity vapor). And that's why I bring them up, not to mention they've been at this longer than myself.
I was just trying to help you out, no need to take offense bro.
