This is getting fustrating

I have been making some batches of Juice and my current result / issue is getting annoying. What is happening is a total lack of flavor, like none. It smells amazing in the bottle, but when you vape it.... :( none. now let me break down what I have done and am doing.

1. I noticed this happening when developing my own blends so I grabbed a few recipes from other people that they know to be good to see if the error is with me. Here is a simple example mix I have been testing:

10ml
70 vg 30 pg
TFA Rice Crunchies 10.2%
TFA Strawberry (Ripe) 3%

Bottle 1: I let it sit and steep for a week then tried it.... No flavor but juice in bottle smells great. I know it should steep for longer because of the crunches but I should be getting some flavor notes after a week of steeping.

Bottle 2: Steep in crock pot for 4 hours @140 deg.... Same results as above.

Bottle 3: Steep in crockpot for 4 hours @140 deg, let rest and steep for 3 days, then steep in ultrasonic for 2 hours @150 deg. Same results as above.

All three bottles have a noticeable color change after steeping but zero impact on flavor. Keep in mind that this is not the only rec that this is going on with. I have a batch of tigers blood at 70vg 30pg that is normally great right after mixing and that is just bland and dull. I the only thing in my set up that I have changed is I am now using pipette's and a pipette pump for mixing instead of syringes. All flavors are TFA and PG and VG are not some crap brand stuff. Also I have tested these juices in many different devices, RDA, 2 different subtanks etc.

What in the hell is going on??? Aside from any input that you have. Can someone post a recipe that they know is great straight after mixing with no steeping so I can make it tonight and see if once again I am getting this result.

Thanks in advance for the help.

well that sux .. hopefully some one of us can help ya out a bit...

are you a smoker past/present?
are you on any medications?
is there NIC in the mix? what kind?
you already said it's vg and pg that you've used b4 right?

try to have someone else vape your juice and see what they taste.
how does premade juice taste to you right now... try that to make sure your taste buds are ok
maybe do a test batch 50/50 to boost flavor carry (ie pg)

Did you SHAKE the flavors really well right b4 mixing???? any chance the flavors are OLD?

I'm not real up on tfa stuff but lots here are.. am sure you can get a recipe or two in short order to try.
definitely a strange problem ..

Thanks for the post @Foggz to answer some of your questions:

Have not smoked in years.
Just ADD meds but I have been vaping for years with these meds and no issues
Nic is in the current mixes. I just mixed some last night with 0 nic and going to start testing them soon. Nic is wizard Labs.
PG and VG are the same as I always use.

I will have to go out and buy some OTC juice and see if I taste that. I have had vapors tounge in mind and I am pounding water now. The only reason why I did not bring this up becuse another issue I did not mention is that aside from zero taste in my juice, when I put these in a sub tank, after the third hit I am burning cotton. Then I have to wait for a while for the cotton to get wet. I really dont want to dilute my VG but I might add some distilled water in one of my bottles I have been steeping and see if that helps.

All flavors are only about 3 weeks old.

Thanks for the input and help.

Thanks for the input and help.
no trouble .. anytime..

try some 'resets' also, lemon juice OR vinegar & water can be helpful ( i gargle them then drink water for a bit) -

after the third hit I am burning cotton.

hmm sounds like the vg is not feeding the coils fast enuff - bring the wattage up and down - draw slower - i'd probably opt for a lower vg to pg ratio before I did the water ;p just me. pg will carry a bit more flavor .. less sweet of course.

good luck - am sure you will figure it out !

I'm rather new to the vaping scene myself and have not gotten into DIY yet... but I've noticed a tremendous amount of flavor loss when my coil needs to be replaced...

That, and if you're getting dry hits after only 3 or so...you might have way too much cotton in there as well. When you have the cotton too tight it can choke the coil and prevent juice from feeding properly. Personally, I use 60vg/40pg in all my subtanks and never have an issue. I would try a new coil and maybe a little less cotton. Are you using RBA decks in your tanks or using premade heads? The way too simple answer might be that you got a bad batch of heads. I'm assuming that to have bought all of those flavors, you have made some sort of juice that you liked at some point...no? I don't think you just suddenly "forgot how to mix"..LOL Sounds like it'll just take some tinkering :)

I agree with @soulshine. If you have been mixing for any length of time, you have had to of made something that you like! So make that again. Change your coil or cotton or both, or atty if that is what your using. Start fresh so to speak.

If your new to mixing and your vape equipment is "fresh" then maybe just up the % a little bit on your recipes. I know when I first started mixing, using @HeadInClouds recipes, I couldn't taste anything! He is a "super taster"! Just up the % some and see what happens.

One possibility might be that in this particular example, the Rice flavor (which doesn't taste like much on its own, and is also at a high enough percentage here to be muted) is "absorbing" the Strawberry. There's something about a lot of creamy or base-type flavors that just sucks the pungency out of other things you add to them. I've found I have to try to account for that beforehand, so in this case, it might taste more flavorful with half the Rice and twice as much Strawberry. Just a thought.

I think you said this is happening with other blends, too, and @Foggz gave you a lot of good things to check out. Is the same thing happening with just fruit blends? You could try honeydew 1% + 5% strawberry + 3% peach. Not sure if you like that combo, but I'd be willing to bet it tastes very fruity right away--or after a few hours and a good shake.
