The IPV4s has the power for high power dripping, but you need batteries and a charger. The Evic VT is good up to 60 Watts and has an internal LiPO battery pack. It depends on your style of vaping. The VT is smaller, the IPV4S, bigger in size. If this is going to be your daily use mod that goes everywhere with you, the VT might be better. If you want a high power mod for future use in high power dripping, then the IPV4 is the choice. Both will run subtanks with out breaking a sweat.

Have you decided on the type of topper (Tank or other ) you want to use on it?

Love my Evic

Just a suggestion, but if you are just getting in to this, you might want to consider something a little easier to start of with. This is meanly meant for more advanced users.

You could start off with something simple like a subox where all you need to is add a simple battery like VTC or INR. Alternatively, you could get the subox and then get the evic box and pair the two up like I have :)

I don't have a VT. I do have an IPV4. Watch Pbusardo's YouTube videos on the VT and IPV4. The IPV4s is a better version and can be upgraded if it should have something wrong. The VT has some issues that can't be fixed (watch the videos to know, I don't remember specifically).

You ask what watts are for and I'd normally say you needed less of a mod but with both being temperature control and temperature control heads able to be purchased they'd save a beginner from dry hits so I think it could be a good move for someone who doesn't know what watts are to start out with TC.

Watts are power. They're not the whole story but in general it's how powerful the mod can produce.
Not the whole story because although my IPV4 can go to 120w I'd have to have a .4Ω build to see that. If I had a 1Ω coil the VT would actually be more powerful because it goes to 8v while the IPV4 can only do 7.5v

Can the IPV 4s be charge and vape at the same time?

While I have an evic, and love it.... There bulk of its problems are user created, it's not as forgiving as some mods, so maybe not the best first device, unless you plan on only using pre made "blister pack" coils. The ipv may be over powered for your first mod.
You could look at something like the vaporshark dna40, solid device, USA made, plenty of power for a beginner and just about any tank you might want to use..... that has dropped in price recently due to a new model coming out.
There are many options out there, don't get stuck in just these two.
That being said, if you are set on one or the other of those two, I'd give it to the evic, for the titanium wire mode, for the aesthetics, big bright (though hard to read outdoors) screen, and the large internal lipo battery (no need to purchase seperate batteries and a charger).
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

Since you’re new to vaping, I would not recommend either. Both are good mods – I have been using and enjoying the Evic for a few weeks, and will be receiving the IPV4S later this week – but both have a longer learning curve than other options available. You may want to consider something that is a bit easier to use as your starting point to make the transition to vaping easier.

Options to consider are:

Innokin MVP3 Pro Starter Kit
Innokin Coolfire IV
Innokin Distrupter
Kanger Subox
Eleaf iStick 30W

But, if you’re locked into either the Evic or the IPV, I’d go with the Evic. It’s smaller, has an internal battery, an easy to read screen, and more than ample power. If you get the kit version it includes a tank, so it’s a full setup right out of the box.

Not the way you're thinking. But you can buy an extra set of batteries. Have a charged set in a case to put in when the ones in the mod run out.
After I found out IPV4 was going to be my main go to I ran down to pick up another set.

Hi...also a noob here. Started vaping a star 1100 series and waiting for mailman to deliver istick 30w with kanger nano. I have tried this particular istick and found i like vaping at 4.7 to 5.0 watts. Haven't found much here in the forums on this setup. Curious as to thoughts...experiences etc...

Watts is a measurement of power using Ohms law. It is a measure of how much power is pushed into a resistance load. Your atomizer is a resistance load, that's how the heat is generated to vaporize the eliquid. At his point I'd look at the Evic VT full kit. They are from $60-75 online, and a lot more at B&M's. Buy a box of standard coils (non temperature sensing) to start with if you get the VT.

It can be overwhelming when you start this hobby! There is a ton of info here and vape tech changes constantly.
My suggestion is to read, research and experiment. But read and research enough to know how to be safe with it.
I only have experience with the ipv4 and I love it. If it's what you decide to get make sure you get quality batteries from a reputable source. Learn about temp control function, and that you need special coils for that. Also that you don't have to turn on that function but it's ideal for a new or experienced vaper.
Research in the battery section too.
Also you might not want to start out with either of these mods.
The kanger her sub box kit is an excellent place to start, or maybe one of the new eleaf istick. I started with disposables, then ego pens with clearos, then longer adjustable ego pens with a kanger pro tank, then I jumped to a sigelei 150 which ended up being way more than I needed but I grew into it. Good luck

If you want some input on this set up you might want to start a new thread in the regulated mods section. More people will see it and respond there.
I had an I stick 50 with the kanger mini sub tanks and ran around 22 watts. Obviously your set up is a bit different though.

Here are my thoughts on "it's too powerful for a beginner".
They're temperature control and temperature control coils are available to buy. No dry hits assures a newbie won't have that excuse to go back to smoking. My IPV4 will go low enough or high enough to fire standard coils in a SubTank. Maybe if you want to use a CE4 it won't go low enough for that.
No matter where they end up they're be able to try it without having to buy a new mod.

It's better than saying a newb should start out with an adjustable eGo to help figure out what they like.

I have an IPv4, I'm not a huge fan of it, if I could do it again I would buy the ipv3 li.
